Cowboy Ever After. Jennie Marts. 2022. Hallmark Publishing (ARC eBook).

Romance author Kaylee Collins is struggling with achieving realism in her romance stories about cowboys an ranching. To help, her editor Faye send Kaylee to the ranch of Faye’s brother, Luke, to gain real-life experience with the people and lifestyle. There hasn’t been a Jennie Marts book I met and haven’t liked. Overall, an engaging romance with sweet characters and small town charm.

I am a true sucker for the cowboy theme and this book delivered it!! As a girl who lives in a rural community, cowboys are a way to make a girl's heart beat like no other. This book definitely got my attention and I wouldn't want it any other way! A million times yes to recommending it to others. Thank you again to the publishers and author of this sweet lovable read. :)

Cowboy Ever After had me smiling throughout, especially at the banter between Kaylee and Luke. She’s a romance writer who has never set foot on a ranch, or been near livestock, or even knows one end of a working barn from the other… and it’s beginning to show in her writing. Her editor suggests actually staying at a real ranch, seeing how reality stacks up against her Google searches. Kaylee isn’t exactly thrilled, but she’ll take on the persona of her feisty main character and make the most of it. She never expected to love country life or the effect that one working cowboy would have on her heart.

I loved everything about this story and this couple. Luke no longer believes in happily ever afters since his wife’s death, but Kaylee is having him take a second look at that possibility as she slowly winds herself around his heart. And it’s hard not to love Kaylee with a heart as big as the sky, the ability to laugh at herself, and a spirit that won’t be tied down. Watching this couple fall in love was a fun, emotional journey with lots of laughter sprinkled freely about. I had a good time here, and if you’ve ever read or watched something by Hallmark, then you know what to expect – a happy ending.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own – good, bad, or indifferent.*

Cowboy Ever After is the story I didn't know I needed. This is the second book I've read by author Jennie Marts and once again she has gotten me to love a cowboy story, which is not typically my book of choice. Marts's characters are so relatable and real that you can't help but fall in love alongside them.

Cowboy Ever After was a great novel. Clean, funny, good pacing. It left you with that content feeling when you were done reading it. And it is a novel you can re-read.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

Who doesn't love a good cowboy love story? Jennie Marts' Cowboy Ever After is an entertaining romance about a romance writer who has never been to a ranch, never ridden a horse, or mucked around in a stall. Her sales are struggling, so her editor suggests that she go visit one of her favorite places. Unfortunately, her brother still owns and operates the ranch, and she doesn't want to go there. Faye refused to take no for an answer from either of her brothers, Luke or Kaylee. She decided to make the two-day trip to Montana with her dog, Gladys.

While driving, she spotted her hero, Duke, who came to life in the form of Luke. Upon getting out of her car, she almost fainted as Duke greeted her. Before she knew it, she was already mucking around in stalls and preparing for dinner. The book was very charming, and it was reminiscent of a lot of cowboy romance writers from Australia and England. Although she was very shy, she took some advice from Faye, who told her that she should try and think of what her heroine would do in the same situation. She did this and it helped her grow. Luke also liked the girl she saw, but he was not ready to open up about his feelings for her.

Although the two main characters, Luke and Faye, were very good friends, Faye was a great worker and was a bit of a wild and crazy person when we first met her. The plot of the book was simple: no kidnappings, no murders, and just romance and the ranch work. It was a great read and made my day.

This clean cowboy romance was my first read by this author and I found the beginning to be tediously slow, which I found surprising for a Hallmark novel. It was hard to become connected to any of the characters.

By the middle of the book the pace had picked up, and it was an enjoyable read. The chicken scene was quite funny, and there was a happy ever after at the end.

Thank you to @netgalley who provided me with a copy in return for my honest review.

Kaylee writes western historical romances, but has no experience with cowboys or ranches, and it’s beginning to show in her writing. Her editor wants her to go to her brother’s ranch to get some experience of living on a ranch. Kaylee meets Luke, who reminds her of her male main character. Luke tries to discourage her into leaving, but she steps right in to help. She becomes friends with the townspeople, many of them have read her books. As a widower, Luke has to overcome his fears of losing someone else that he loves. Misunderstandings are cleared up and Luke and Kaylee get together.

You know the fulfilled, comforted feeling you get after finishing a Hallmark movie? This is that, wrapped up in between the pages and in the lines of this book.

The romance between Kaylee and Luke is sweet and endearing, and had me smiling to myself the entire time I got to spend with them. The chicken scene will live rent-free in my mind until I someday re-enact it myself.

Cowboy Ever After was published in June 2022. Thank you to Hallmark Publishing, NetGalley and the author for the ARC.

I enjoyed this story.
Kaylee is an author who has writers block and doesn't know a thing about what happens on a Ranch. No more faking it, so she heads to her editor's brothers ranch. Luke might be just the person to show her "the ropes". He's dealing with some pain of losing his wife and not sure he's ready for romance, but when Kaylee shows up, they might both be just what the other needs.
The story is a perfect blend of enjoyable characters, scenery, heartwarming moments, some humor and romance.
Oh, and lots of adorable animals.

I never miss a chance to read a Jennie Marts book because I know it will be a page turner .

Cowboy Ever After by Jennie Marts is an entertaining romance about a popular cowboy romance writer who has never been on a ranch, never ridden a horse, and never mucked out a stall. Her sales are stalling and her editor has a suggestion: go visit a ranch. She has the perfect one in mind: the one she grew up on and her brother still owns and operates. Kaylee does not want to do it. She likes staying inside her apartment, away from people. Faye wouldn’t take no for an answer from Kaylee or from her brother, Luke, who didn’t like the idea much more than Kaylee did. None-the-less, Kaylee and her corgi, Gladys, got into the car and made the two day trek to Montana. She minute she got out of her car she spied her hero, Duke, walking toward her. She almost fainted. It turned out it was Duke, come to life in the form of Luke, Faye’s brother, who “welcomed” her to his ranch. Before she knew it she was mucking out stalls and eating beanie and weenies for dinner. He was determined to run her off. The opposite thing happened.

This was such a cute book, probably reminiscent of more than one cowboy romance writer. It always kills me when someone in England or Australia is writing cowboy romance. Kaylee was very shy but determined. She took one piece of Faye’s advice: she tried to think of what Sassy (her heroine) would do in a similar situation and she just did it. Her courage grew and grew. Luke liked the girl he saw. He had been hurt and was in no mood to open up but she kind of forced him to. They were a good pair, but a character I would like to see more of is Faye. The little we saw of her she was a hoot and a half and obviously great at her job. The plot was simple: no kidnappings or murders in the offing, just romance and ranch work. Well, OK, one little accident. It was a terrific, simple and endearing plot that made my day.

Author Kaylee Collins has been almost exposed as a fraud. She writes romance novels about cowboys. The problem, she's never met a cowboy, or even ridden a horse herself. Her editor sets up a vacation on a ranch for her. When Kaylee gets there and realizes that the cowboy she's going to be staying with is the spitting image of her main character, she can't help but start to fall for him.

This was a fun read. I liked Kaylee and Luke as a couple. I loved watching Kaylee learning about ranch life. I could totally see this one as a movie! I loved the supporting characters and I hope that there will be more books in this world.

Jennie Marts’ cowboy stories are always cute and heartwarming. I’ve read most of her Cowboys of Creedence series, as well as her Creedence Horse Rescue series and they are lovely.

Cowboy Ever After is a standalone and it is sugary sweet and funny. we meet Kaylee. A shy city girl who writes cowboy novels for a living. She has a big fan base, but there are some complaints that her romances don’t have the authentic feel of a cowboy life. Therefore, her editor sends her out to Montana, to experience some real cowboy life to improve her writing. When she arrives on Luke Montgomery’s range, she is flabbergasted: Luke is the spitting image of the cowboy hero in her books!

Ever since Luke’s wife died several years ago, Luke has been on his own. He doesn’t need the heartbreak following his wife’s death again. As a favor to his sister, he allows a romance author in his house for two weeks. Kaylee is, however, in no way the spoiled city girl, he expects her to be. Even when tasked with the most dirty jobs at the range, she just sets out to work and thanks him afterwards for the experience.

Luke doesn’t know what to make of Kaylee. What he does know, is that he doesn’t want her to leave after the two weeks. Can he convince her to stay?

Cute, funny and full of great dialogues. Enjoy it for yourself. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Kaylee Collins is writing a Western romance but, has no real experience in the country. She is a city dweller at heart; and now no one is buying into her attempt at sounding like she knows what she is talking about. Her editor ends her to spend a week at a working ranch. She is reluctant but, slowly straps on her superficial boots and prepares to go on an adventure. Her slightly overweight corgi Gladys comes along for the ride too.

Cowboy Ever After takes place in Montana. When Kaylee arrives at the ranch, she meets the ranch owner, Luke, who also happens to be her editors brother. He is not exactly thrilled to have a romance author in his midst but, he owes his sister a favor. As Luke and Kaylee spend time together doing the chores of the ranch, they slowly learn to adapt to each other. They also start realizing there is more below the surface than either one expected.

Kaylee is naturally shy which is way she writes bold and daring characters . Being naturally shy also impacts her inability to understand life in the west. During her stay at the ranch, she tries to channel the spirit of her heroine in her newest novel. It doesn't hurt that Luke is the spitting image of the cowboy in her book. It was so much fun watching Kaylee explore the ranch and find an inner strength that she did not know she possessed.

Luke and Kaylee are super cute together. There are so many moments that had me smiling. It was like a Hallmark movie which I guess makes seeing as how that is also who published it. If were to cast Kaylee and Luke using some of the usual Hallmark performers, I think I would have to go with Bethany Joy Lenz and Andrew Walker. I've always enjoyed their movies together and I think they could pull off these characters and their romance with their chemistry.

Cowboy Ever After is a clean romance that will brighten your day. Predictable? Slightly but still manages to keep you guessing with so many "almost" moments. Plus, there are two dogs tagging along for the ride, and who form their own special friendship. Seriously, these dogs are adorable.

Rating: 3.5 Stars

Cowboy Ever After was a heartwarming tale that was filled with love, laughter and friendship. If you love small town romances and stories that play out like you're watching a Hallmark movie, you need this book in your life. I desperately need this to be made into a Hallmark movie so I can binge it again and again! Cowboy Ever After was a charming, sweet and delightful romance that landed right on my favorites list!

All she could focus on was the way his fingers had felt as they brushed her cheek and the crystal blue shade of his eyes as he peered down at her. She was caught in his gaze, powerless to move as she drowned in their depths.

Kaylee Collins was an author who lived in Chicago, but needed to perfect some of the smaller details in her cowboy romance stories. When her editor suggested that she go to Montana, to stay with her brother and learn how a ranch works, Kaylee agreed. She embarked on a trip, along with her adorable corgi Gladys who I absolutely loved! Their adventure was filled with an adorable small town, friendly townspeople, farm animals and a sexy cowboy that looked like just like the hero in one of her books!

Kaylee Collins had landed in his life, with her pudgy dog, hot pink cowgirl outfit and a smashed vegetable cake, and he hadn’t been the same since.

I loved Kaylee! She was so relatable and easy to click with. From choosing the wrong clothes, to trying and channel one of her characters for bravery, I absolutely adored her! And from that first goosetastic moment she stepped on Luke's ranch, Kaylee's world started to change. She tried her best to get out of her comfort zone, while helping on a working ranch. And I loved how her time helping or being around the ranch inspired moments in her books! But most of all, I loved that Kaylee was always a joy to be around. Her cheerfulness and happiness was infectious! And before Luke knew it, that broody cowboy started to feel things he hadn't felt in years!

He held the book sideways, and she could see he was already half-way through. “I was just gonna read a couple of pages, but I couldn’t put it down. You’re a great writer, Kaylee.”
“Thank you,” she whispered. “That means a lot.” His words touched something in her.

Luke was a tortured hero I fell hard for! He seemed to keep his head down, work hard, and didn't expect much from a city person coming and staying with him. So I loved that Kaylee shocked him. Her willingness to jump right in and help, while getting her hands dirty, made him pause and look at her. Which he hadn't done with anyone in quite a long time. And as Kaylee got Luke to open up, I loved that he was charming and easy to talk to. He was also kind, thoughtful, protective and extremely sexy! Even if he could be a little clueless when it came to women at times. Luke was a hero that so many people will easily fall for!

The air felt different here. And so did she. Something about being on the ranch was filling an empty place inside her. Maybe a place she didn’t even know was there. Not until she got here and found the missing pieces to fill it with.

While Luke and Kaylee seemed like polar opposites, they both spent so much time alone and loved their dogs Gladys and Cooper with their whole heart and souls. I loved what Gladys and Cooper added to the story; they both easily wiggled their ways into my heart! And as Kaylee spent more time around Luke, I fell hard for him right along with her! He was swoon worthy, sigh inducing and had such a good heart. I loved them working on the ranch together and going to town events. But Luke had his walls up high and Kaylee was only there to research her book, and then would be heading back to the city. Still, neither of them could ignore the tension between them that simmered with electricity!

“All that matters is just you and me, darlin’.”
“Just you and me,” she repeated in a whisper.

Cowboy Ever After was a story-line that captured my heart! Every time I pick up a Jennie Marts book I know that I will be smiling from that first page to the last, and that the story will be filled with so much heart! There were also hidden treasures with Dean, Emma, Bear and so many animals! With laughter, romance, jealousy, friendship and love, this book was everything! If you need a feel good story, definitely look no further then this book!

Kaylee is a western romance author who has never been west. How can you write about a sexy cowboy, if you’ve never met one! Kaylees editor Faye jumps in and decides to send Kaylee to her brothers ranch. Luke is still grieving over the loss of his wife but the arrival of Kaylee might be just the thing to make him open up again.

I love hallmark. The cheesy beautiful predictability of it just warms my heart. This book is wonderful and actually reminds me of the hallmark movie with #lukeperry where he’s a western star that can’t ride a horse. I alway recommend a hall@ark book, they are like a nice warm hug.

The author bets you'll fall in love with Montana after you read this heartwarmng romantic adventure.
I know I fell in love with Kaylee, Luke, their dogs and a few other characters.
It's been a few years since I have been on a horse or visited a rodeo but her wonderful writing set me smack in the middle of all the action, yes, even mucking out stalls.
Kaylee's editor feels her writing needs more depth. She suggests Kaylee spend some time on a real, working ranch. Feel her own muscles burn and smell the authentic country air.
City girl Kaylee has her doubts, but writing is her life so she will do whatever it takes to be successful.
Well, at least that's what she tells herself and her editor.

Romantic, funny, exciting are all ways to describe this book. I enjoyed every moment I could escape into it.

When Kaylee struggles to really capture the Cowboy life in her novels, her publisher/friend sends her to a ranch for a week. There she meets Luke, a cowboy who is not overly excited to have Kaylee there. Kaylee lacks confidence and social skills so she tries to channel her heroine when faced with decisions.
It was an enjoyable book, but I felt some parts dragged on. I also struggled to really like Kaylee. I fell in love with “Bear” and am glad he was more than just a passing character in the book.
