A farewell slumber party turns deadly in the Party at Number 12.

When partygoers wake up to a dead body, they make the choice to protect each other - but does it really leave them protected? Hannah must find out what really happened before the wrong person is charged with murder.

The book took me a little bit to get into, but once things started rolling I could not put it down. I thought the ending wasn’t obvious but could be logic-ed out - I felt smart for figuring it out, but I missed several important clues along the way.

This is a solid, not gory or creepy suspense mystery.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the narrators were enjoyable as well. It's hard for me to give a review about the story without spoilers, but I will say I was very much intrigued with this storyline. It put into perspective what some people would do in order to keep themselves/their families out of harms way.

There were a lot of characters in this story which I feel like had I been reading the book I would have been better able to keep track of them. In audio I kept having to think about who was who. I also didn't enjoy the ending. I feel like it was rushed. So much "investigating" went into figuring out what happened and then it was just over within a short chapter it seemed. I would have liked for the author to beef up the ending a little bit if that makes sense.

I will keep an eye out for another book by this author however because it was over all enjoyable.

This was a good entertaining quick read. I enjoyed the writing style and the flow of the story and it kept me guessing throughout. Overall a fun 'who done it' with lots of secrets, jealousy and criminal pasts thrown in. The one thing that let it down for me was the twist at the end. Although it was unexpected and well constructed, I wasn't entirely convinced by the motive and and it felt a little extreme and far fetched to me. Still well worth a read though. This was the first book I have read by this author and I would happily pick up another. I listened to the book as an audible and the narration was very good.

Kerry Wilkerson writes another exciting thriller!

There is a party at Number 12 to celebrate one of the friends going away on a trip. The party is. small consisting of just a few old friends and family determined to have a great send off. They do have fun until the next morning when one is found dead and things spiral out of control from there.

This was a fun listen as the narrator was fantastic and story was great.

Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

3.75 ⭐ rounded up
8 party guests - 1 dead = 7 suspects

This was a fast paced, suspenseful, whodunit read that really started gripping me after about ½ to ⅔ in. Each chapter ending made me have to go onto the next one right away to see what happens.

Hannah is moving out of town and her family and friends are getting together for a proper send off. There's years worth of tension between most of the guests for various reasons.
When one of the guests turns up dead ~ shall they be logical and call the police? Shall they try to cover it up? Shall they tell the police the truth when they start asking questions?

Zach - friend/coworker/lover of the deceased. He really stirs things up and gets the ball rolling when he starts doing some investigating on his own.

My favorite writing style ~ dual pov is told by Hannah and Zach.
It always takes me a minute to get used to voices when the accent differs from my own, but I thought Tamsin Kennard and Andrew Kingston did a wonderful job.

This is my first time with this author, but not my last.

*Thanks for Netgalley, Bookouture Audio and Kerry Wilkinson for the advance audiobook. I am voluntarily leaving my honest review*

A good book of you like this genre. Fairly fast paced with quite a few characters (I did get some of the confused at the beginning as there are so many women). A good plot, though I did guess the ending quite early on. Definitely worth a read, however, and I’ll now be checking out more by this author. Great narrators, too.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

When a group of women get together for a going-away party, there is likely to be some drama or other but no one could predict what was going to happen at No 12.

"Everyone’s invited. Someone will never leave."

This was entertaining. I listened to the audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrators did a great job of portraying each of the different characters; they drew me in and kept me there until the end.

The characters are an interesting bunch of people; not particularly likeable but interesting nonetheless. The plot is engaging with the requisite twists and turns which keeps you guessing and the pace is good.

Overall, an enjoyable listen and whilst I haven't read or listened to anything by this author before, I will certainly keep an eye out in the future.

Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for my audio copy in return for an honest, unbiased and unedited review.

3.5 stars

Kerry Wilkinson writes fast paced twisty page turners that never disappoint!

Hannah is moving away! To celebrate a beautiful home has been rented and friends and family have been invited. Should make for a fun filled send off. But there are secrets and resentments in the group. But they gather themselves together, determined to have a good time despite all the water under the bridge.

In the morning one of them is dead!

Hannah wants to ring the police but as I mentioned, everyone has secrets and something to hide. They decide to take matters into their own hands. As they stumble over their secrets and lies, will someone stumble over the truth?

Another fun and engaging read by Wilkinson. I enjoyed switching back and forth between the book and audiobook. I often have an inkling as to whodunit, but this time, I didn't have a clue. Although not my favorite book by Wilkinson, I enjoyed this one and enjoyed not knowing what really happened until the ending.

Thank you to Bookouture, Bookouture Audio and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Enjoyment: 4
Total rating: 3.93

Hannah is moving away from her hometown, and to send her off, close friends and family members rent a house for the night as a mini all-girls sleepover. The night seems to go well, but when they wake up and find one of them dead, Hannah's life spiral out of control and hangs by the thread of a collective lie.

I first listened to The Party at No. 12 as an audiobook produced by Bookouture Audio and narrated by Tamsin Kennard and Andrew Kingston. They really helped bring the story to life.

The Party at No. 12 was a very enjoyable thriller with quite a few twists and turns, a fast-paced narrative and some characters that make horrible decisions under stress and have to live with them.

Reading Between the Wines book review #19/135 for 2022:
Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: The Party at Number 12
Author: Kerry Wilkinson
Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Mystery & Thrillers
RELEASED on March 11, 2022!!! Available now!

Sipping thoughts: I really like one setting stories with a group of people that turns into a whodunnit. This storyline was not that different than most other books like that except where the killer and the way it was done. I enjoyed this book enough but didn’t love it. When reading this you will not know whether to root for Hannah to find out if her family or friends’ killer one of the guests or if she is the guilty party. I like the red herrings thrown in and could not figure out the killer even though I thought I had.

Cheers and thank you to @BookoutureAudio and @NetGalley for an advanced copy of @ThePartyAtNumber12

AUDIBLE BOOK - 8 hours & 57 minutes
The Party at No 12 by Kerry Wilkinson
Published date: 11 March 2022
Narrators: Tamsin Kennard & Andrew Kingston

This audible book caught me out! I commenced listening and thought the storyline a little off to begin with. But for me, Tamsin Kennard narration won the day! Tamsin is an excellent narrator, the voice changes were exceptional and caught my ear from the start. Andrew Kingston, at the beginning, not so much but as I listened further into the audible book, I was so wrong, Andrew's narration was very good.

The storyline, I thought a little far fetched with red herrings everywhere but kept me listening to the end. Characters were liked and disliked in equal measure.

I give a 5 start rating and would recommend this audible book.

I WANT TO THANK NEGALLEY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY OF LISTENING TO AN ADVANCED COPY OF THIS AUDIBLE BOOK IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST OPINION

I found this a strange book with several characters whose stories were interwoven, but there wasn't any substance to any of them. There were characters who seemed there for the sake of adding bulk, for example, the nosy neighbour. I was giving up hope on finding anything interesting about the story until the twist of who slept where.

First time listening to a psychological thriller and it was a good experience. Loved the novel kept me attached the whole time. The characters and the setting everything was in place and took us step by step toward the end while keeping the same excitement from the start.
Recommended, you will love it.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fairly fast paced listen, with varying viewpoints throughout. I enjoyed the storyline of a classic whodunnit, with best friends and family all involved. I liked the tenacity of the new boyfriend trying to solve what happened. Some twists I didn't see coming, and some I did. The ending was good but a little far fetched, putting it at a solid 3 stars for me.

Overall, I was happy to have listened to this during my commute this week.

Audiobook review

The book opens with the discovery of a dead body. The location a house rented by Hannah and her friends and family for a farewell party before Hannah goes travelling.

It didn't get off to a great start for me, some of the party scenes came across as lists of names of characters I hardly knew it. It soon picked up though as I got to more more about the main characters and I was fairly engrossed.

There are two narrators, one female for chapters from Hannah's perspective and a male voice for Zach's chapter, Zach being a friend of the victim turned accidental investigator. Sorry to say I didn't take to the male narrator's voice.

I stayed engaged throughout, and it picks up the pace and tension towards the end. One of the revelations felt unnecessary, unlikely and shoehorned in.

A genuine 3.5⭐️ for me, it could go either way but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and round it up.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookoutre Audio

This audio was narrated so well and I could not wait to find out how everything turned out.
Hannah receives a sizable inheritance and decided to have a party for her sister, mother and friends before invoking on a new adventure. She rents a place and everyone seems to be having fun, but by the next morning a girl is found dead!

What comes next is shocking! Do they tell the police? No they decided to take care of the problem. Each guest has something the hide. As the police show up to do interviews, will someone tell the truth? Accuse someone else? After all they each have a past, or perhaps a secret. You will be on the edge of your seat to find out what happens.

First of all I have to say that the cover and title total sold this to me the second I saw it I knew I had to read it. It has been a while since I have read one of Kerry’s books but I know you are always guaranteed an exciting unputdownable read. The Party at No. 12 didn’t disappoint…..I was hooked from the very first page and kept there until the last. It is absolutely brilliant.

In this book we follow a story about a group of family and friends who have a party to celebrate happy times. The next morning a body is found they all agree to stick to the same story. But clearly someone at the party is hiding something.

So many twists and turns this book which had me guessing until the end I couldn’t listen to it fast enough. The narrator has done an awesome job bringing this story to life! I couldn’t stop listening to it and devoured it in two days. It is a highly entertaining, addictive audio full of suspense. I had no idea who did it has the story makes you question all the characters. I love it when a story does this!

This is a physiological thriller you dont want to miss. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to Sarah Hardy for inviting me to take part on this epic tour

Happy publication day! 🤗
This is only the second audiobook I’ve ever listened to so naturally, I’m still getting the hang of not letting my mind wander and resisting the urge to clean the house while I listen! 😂 However, the narrators were great and it was very calming listening to this book despite the heavy plot.
I did not want to stop listening to what happened next! Most chapters left off on a cliffhanger to make you itch for more. I loved how gripping it was and how many pieces to the puzzle there were to make you wonder where they all fit. There’s something comforting about all your questions being answered as it’s the perfect closure to a book.
There were times when you have to believe the unbelievable and some of the decisions made are so wildly out of reality, but it didn’t draw me away from the story. I felt very entertained throughout and would be very interested in reading more from this author.
A huge thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

I read a lot of Bookouture's cozy mysteries, and I have wanted to try their suspense/thriller novels. When I saw The Pary at No. 12 was available as an audiobook for review, I thought now was a perfect time (I've always have been wanting to try their audiobooks).

Hannah is about to use the inheritance from her grandmother to do some traveling and decides to host a going-away party with family and a few friends. She rents a "party house" (think AirBnB rental) but things look to be more strained than fun when an old friend shows up. Katherine, Sophie, and Hannah had been the best of friends until Sophie started dating, and eventually marrying, Katherine's boyfriend. Hannah hopes this will be an opportunity to bury the hatchet. But when Katherine is found dead the next morning, was it an accident or was someone trying to settle the score?

I usually shy away from mysteries and thrillers on audiobooks because I usually miss details due to distractions. However, this one was pretty easy to listen to. I did confuse Katherine and Charolotte early on, but once I had them straight in my head I was good. Tamsin Kennard narrators the chapters that are from Hannah's point of view and Andrew Kingston narrators Zach's chapters. They both do a great job. Sometimes I find it difficult with changing narrators and characters sounding different but that wasn't the cause with this book.

I'm not a huge fan of the covering up a death trope. I could kind of understand the 20-something characters wanting to cover it up even though they think Katherine's death was an accident. But the two mothers? It's actually Hannah's mother that seems to be leading the cover-up. But once the mystery of what actually happened starts to unravel, I really enjoyed the story.

I was kept guessing and never saw the ending coming. Of course, it made sense in the end but there are a lot of red herrings in the story. I enjoyed the characters. I felt for both Hannah and Zach as they search for answers. Hannah doesn't want to believe that one of her friends or family could be a killer and Zach is bereft over the loss of Katherine and what they could have been.

I didn't want to put this book down. If you want to stay snuggled in a blanket all weekend, then this is the book to pick up.

My review will be published at Girl Who Reads on Friday, March 11 - https://www.girl-who-reads.com/2022/03/2-mysteries-perfect-for-weekend-reading.html

This book kept me guessing till the end!!
thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the advance audio copy - this was a fabulous book, narration by
Tamsin Kennard, Andrew Kingston really was awesome.

Hannah has a going away party in a house rented specially for this, but on that evening she is nervous she is not sure whether it's a good idea to have the party. On her mom's instance she goes ahead, what with all the struggles with her divorce and her job.
8 women are in the house no. 12, by morning only 7 have survived. What happened that fateful night is nicely told to the reader by using alternative POV between Hannah and Zach.
My first read by the author Kerry Wilkinson and I want to grab all other books by this author.
