Josie Quinn is back and when I say she's back, I mean she's BACK. The grief of losing her beloved grandmother has ebbed and she's ready to tackle the next case with full Josie determination. She just doesn't expect this case to take her where it does.

Picture it, senior prom night, a night of laughter, pretty dresses, and dead bodies. At least that's what prom night included in Denton. A young girl is found 'sleeping' until they discover the gruesome way she died. With a new case on the docket, Josie is never more surprised than when the Chief gets involved from the beginning.

For me, the Chief has always been this background character everyone loved to hate because he usurped the position from Josie. I still gleefully smile every time Gretchen or Mett call Josie boss with the Chief standing right there, but after this book, I'll no longer take joy in that. I guess it's true what they say about what you see isn't always what you get and when it comes to Robert 'Bobby' Chitwood, there was never a truer statement made. I'm not going to lie, I thoroughly enjoyed this little window into his soul because it made him as real and flawed as we all are.

Josie is taken aback when Bobby pulls her into the case by taking her to his home and revealing a shocking truth that Josie never saw coming. Faced with the evidence, she didn't have a choice but to tell the rest of the team, and this time, the rest of the team included their elusive chief. For the first time, he's taken a front seat to an investigation and the insight you get into who he is outside of the Denton Police Station is a mind twist and the very last thing you expect.

Watch Her Disappear was less about Josie and her demons this time around and more about the Chief and his. It was about Bobby's determination to find justice and to make sure it sticks. Is he still gruff and bossy? Yes, but the things you learn about him and his family are enough to explain the reasons why. I loved watching the whole team soften towards the man who before only rankled them. Watch Her Disappear was a solid police procedural and there wasn't much time for Josie to have any personal failures or successes. We were too busy trying to save young girls from certain death and getting justice for 'Bobby' after all these years. The twists and turns, not to mention the new towns and new characters, were enough to keep you turning pages late into the night to unravel the mystery along with Josie and the team. Book 14 was an exceptional installment to the Josie Quinn series!

Good Lort…

I could not put this book down. Could. Not. Walk. Away.

Talk about a tangled web of horror. WOW.

I can’t tell you how riveted I was delving into the Chiefs history. What a sad back story. He carried a heavy burden.

This story was fast paced with so many twists you better hold on or get whiplash. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. This author has so much talent it blows my mind.
