The twists! The turns! I had a hard time putting this one down. Nothing is quite as it seems, and if certain plot threads and characters seem a little far-fetched, well, all in good fun. Extremely entertaining, and I loved the setting.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

wheeew there are some lunatics in this book. First off, let’s get this right out of the way. Writing and dialogue….basic and a little laughable at times. We aren’t talking Pulitzer winning conversations…but DAMN this is the definition of a popcorn thriller. I really liked the the sequence of events being told from one character then it switching to the second POV and what that character was REALLY like. You just never really know a persons true motives and what they hide behind the social media screen. Another pro is how some chapters had interview style dialogue and you got to see all different POVs and motives to throw you off. It was just enough variety and not too overwhelming, like some previous “whodunit at the wedding” books I have read, where there are 5 plus characters and it’s hard to keep track.

Another WTH I just read, why the hell this author so smart and I cannot see those twists coming till they hit me in the head and leave me numb kind of book from brilliant writer of My Sweet Girl!

This book is so intelligent, so addictive, so riveting! Most of the characters are ruthless, unconventional opportunists, ready to eliminate anyone who cross them and prevent them to accomplish their big schemes.

Amaya seems like the villanelle of the story who cyber stalks her estranged best friend Kaavi for 5 years and finds out her marriage with her ex- boyfriend who broke her into pieces!

She flies to Sri Lanka to stop the wedding after getting an e-mail invitation from Kaavi who advises her to leave the past behind and entire family is ready to welcome her with open arms.

But as soon as she reaches at the family house of her friend, she realizes nobody is expecting her! Why did Kaavi lie to her? Does she also have a hidden agenda or she is innocent and has no idea who invited her!

And now Kaavi is missing! From the blood traces and proof of big fight at her hotel room, it seems like she may have been murdered and Amaya is prime suspect.

Did Amaya see the red and take her best friend’s love because she was so jealous of her to steal her love of her life!

We also read the interrogations of several people who witness the events before the wedding day and they truly confuse our minds, making us focus on different theories about the real victim and per perpetrator!

The book is great blend of secrets, lies, manipulation, gaslighting, mental abuse!

I devoured in one sitting! I even liked more than the author’s first book that I also gave five stars!

This is absolute delight and wildest ride you have to buckle and take without hesitation!
I’m absolutely highly recommending you to read it!

Special thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

When Amaya is invited to ex-best friend Kaavi’s extravagent wedding in Sri Lanka, she plans to attend to make sure the marriage will not happen as Kaavi is marrying Amaya's ex boyfriend Stephen. The premise of the book seems clear at this point. Jealousy, vengeance, feelings of betrayal on Amaya's part.

This premise turns into something else as the plot advances. The narrator switches from the determined Amaya to her ex-BFF, Kaavi, whose point of view we see in the second part of the book. The setting and lavish preparations and ceremonies of a Sri Lankan upper class marriage is very interesting and attention grabbing. In between however, we get to know the two girls in more detail and though they are both sympathetic characters to a certain degree, overall I felt they were not only unreliable, but not at all likeable in the final analysis.

They represents the worst of the elite society in Sri Lanka, it seems. And the book and plot surely points fingers at that closed society with its hypocrisy and excess.

The plot was a good one, partly predictable, but only just so. The main characters, Amaya and Kaavi turn out to be so unsympathetic, the author may have wanted it so.

I love books like this. It reminds me of a modern Agatha Christie. It all centers around a social gathering in a murder. I don’t want to spoil anything but you are absolutely going to enjoy this book. Highly recommend!

It’s been years since Amaya has heard from her best friend, Kaavi, and when she finally does, it’s to invite Amaya to a destination wedding in Sri Lanka. The groom? Amaya’s ex-boyfriend. Nothing will keep her away from that wedding, but only to see that it never takes place. Amaya is determined to stop the wedding, but in Sri Lanka, she hears guests and family members whispering some nasty rumors about her. Then Kaavi disappears and all eyes turn to Amaya, who is considered a prime suspect in Kaavi’s presumed death. It’s up tp Amaya to prove her own innocence and she soon discovers that plenty of the wedding guests had secrets and reasons of their own to stop the wedding by any means necessary.
