I love Ms. Reus;'s books, especially the ones about dragons! I LUUUURRRVVVEEEEE DRAGONSSSSSS!!! Juniper and Zephyr had me rolling over with laughter. I loved it. Juniper had some trials and tribulations that she had to go through but she is a warrior and I loved her for it! Great read! 4.5 stars

I wasn't quite sure where the series was going after Ancient Vendetta because King and Aurora were kind of #lifegoals but I seriously loved Juniper and Zephyr's story.

I don't want to give too much away about the story but in this book, we get two dragons that are both warrior types. They both have very interesting backstories and we get a story rich in heel gates and a human trafficking ring.

I really loved Juniper and her merry band of badass found family. Further, I was absolutely into her whole back story and wished we got more time to discover that. But, maybe that's for future books to explore? Moreover, I am so hoping Juniper's gang all get some HEAs as well.

Zephyr was a type of lead male character that I love. He was alpha but he was patient and waited Juniper out with all of her hangups about long term things.

All in all, I’m loving this series and I really enjoyed this one. Can't wait to read more from this series and which direction Katie will take it next.

Dragons, vampires, soulmates, and quite the action hunting human traffickers! A definite adventure with one determined older brother dragon creating a lot of heat, and earthquakes. A fun read, they can alone, but read them all.

Ancient Retribution is the 5th in the Ancient’s Rising series. Loved the romance between Juniper and Zephyr but I also keep coming back for the story arc that continues through all the books - rebuilding after the fall, discovering relationships, conquering enemies, plus action and romance. I'm looking forward to the next in this series!

Juniper is a dragon shifter, adopted by a pair of wolves as a child she has no memories of her biological parents or where she came from. She now works as Spec-Ops for August, tracking down supernaturals who prey on others. Her latest hunt is for a group of vampires who are abducting humans and sending them into a Hell Realm. Whilst on a mission she and her team encounter Zephyr, a dragon shifter who has only just escaped from a Hell realm himself after being trapped there by a sorcerer. It happens, insta-lust, but Zephyr isn't interested in a one-night stand, he's playing for keeps.

As Juniper and her team track down the vampires in an attempt to uncover their leader, Juniper meets an ancient and powerful dragon who claims to be her grandmother and that Juniper is a princess from another realm.

Sorry to say this, but I'm bored of dragon shifters, bored of insta-love, bored of seeing someone and having the mating bond manifest itself, especially bored of shifters with 'thick' everything. Are none of them shy, willowy, or with long thin fingers (please also spare me from digits FFS).

I'll be honest I've been in another book downer having given several favourite authors and series very mediocre ratings recently but this just felt a bit tired and by rote to me.

An amazing action packed, slow building romance. This is Juniper's story. A dragon abandoned and raised by wolves. She is a black ops team leader, fighting for the rights of supernatural beings as well as humans. She meets Zephyr and the Sparks fly. An amazing read. Can be read as a standalone but why wouldn't you read the stories of the other characters. I hope to read more of Starlena in the coming books.

An ancient that was in hibernation, upon waking Zephyr finds Juniper, who he is sure is his mate. Both are dragon shifters but Juniper is Black Ops without a past, and was raised by wolves. Juniper and Zephyr's story is one hot action packed story that was hard to put down. As in all of the books in the Ancients Rising series, each are standalone reads and real page turners for readers of the genre. **I was gifted "Ancient Retribution" via NetGalley, leaving my review based on my reading.** 5 Stars!

The fifth book in Ancient Rising, Ancient Retribution is a well written paranormal romance. The characters are compelling and the interaction captivating, and the story powerful and well delivered. This story and series is definitely a keeper and one I highly recommend to readers of this genre.

Oh hell yes! Only a few months after Ancient Vendetta, I saw another Ancient Rising story popping up at Netgalley. So, of course I had to request it. Because after King and Aurora got their HEA in Ancient Vendetta, we still had some unfinished business in New Orleans. There are still people disappearing and there are creatures coming into this world, who definitely don’t belong here.

Juniper has been catching bad creatures for as long as she can remember. Ever since her adoptive parents left their clan to keep her safe, she has been determined to make them proud. If only she knew where she originally came from, so that she would understand her temper and her strange manifestations. Like her magic chains from her arms.

Zephyr has a hard time adjusting to this new age. After awakening from his hibernation, he has learned that people now know of the existence of dragon shifters. And his brothers are happily mated to said humans. (Mikael’s story is in Ancient Enforcer). But Zephyr still needs to find a place in this new world. When he meets Juniper and her strange group of various shifters, he learns of their cause and decides he likes their goals and way of working. And his dragon especially likes Juniper. But Juniper is skittish and she doesn’t like the idea of being mated. Ever. Because family can only give you heartbreak. And leave you, just as her parents have done.

Zephyr is determined to break down these walls around Juniper’s heart. But first they need to find out why there are people disappearing and who is behind it. Fortunately, King and Aurora have friends who can help out Juniper and her team. So, it is a very happy reunion for you readers! For instance, Alex, the lion shifter from Ancient Protector is back. And there is a lot of tension between him and the vampire Christian. And als Greer makes her appearance and Hunter as well! In all, yet another addition to this series and I can’t wait for the next part! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

In Katie Reus’ Ancient Retribution, Ancients Rising #5, a lost dragon princess finds her mate and lost clan while tracking missing humans and battling an unknown, treacherous enemy. I loved the development of the relationship between Zephyr and Juniper. Juniper being a fantastic fighter and leader and all-around badass goes without saying. But I loved Zephyr’s character. Zephyr is all in on Juniper from the moment they meet. He respects her so much and never undermines her leadership. Despite being an alpha male, there’s not one moment when he's at all bothered by her being in charge. He becomes her partner, offering her support, caring for her, and meeting her needs—first. I loved all that and how sexy he finds her being in control and the leader of the crew, his leader. Juniper and Zephyr have fiery chemistry. And their interactions and relationship are intense, sexy, and steamy, but also sweet, even though she tries to resist him and their connection at every turn because of trust issues and fear.

Juniper leads her black ops crew on missions hunting dangerous criminals. Raised by wolves, she’s a dragon shifter who doesn’t know her birth clan—something she gave up on discovering a century ago. Since rogue dragons destroyed half the planet in the Fall, she’s focused on her missions and hunting down supernaturals, ensuring they don’t escape justice. During a treacherous mission, she meets dragon shifter warrior Zephyr. They join forces to track missing humans and the ones responsible. Until meeting Juniper and her crew, Zephyr doesn’t feel like he fits in anywhere, especially in this new world. Adjusting to life after being trapped in a hell dimension hasn’t been easy. But from the moment he sees her, he knows he fits with Juniper, his destined mate. Zephyr’s set on winning her heart, even knowing it will be his most formidable challenge because she doesn’t trust anyone with her heart and doesn’t want to get mated. Zephyr cannot lose this battle, so he won’t give in or ever stop fighting to win her. He’s up against Juniper’s stubbornness, a long-lost clan who has come to bring their lost dragon princess home, and an enemy with endless resources.

Reus’s descriptive and thrilling action scenes, intriguing suspense plot, and deft world-building and character development make this another exciting read in her Ancients Rising series. But how she takes an issue—found families, estranged families, kidnapping, organ theft, human trafficking, etc.—giving it a supernatural spin makes her stories fascinating and gives them added depth. She brilliantly does so here. My only complaint is that the villains lacked sufficient development to match their threat level and inflicted harm. Likewise, while Reus nicely plants seeds connected with Juniper’s separation from her clan, the resolution of this central plot point was dealt with too quickly, as though there wasn’t enough time to resolve it in the detail it deserved.

Action-packed, suspenseful, and steamy, Ancient Retribution is an entertaining and intriguing paranormal romance.

Katie Reus always delivers, and Ancient Retribution is no exception. Zephyr and Juniper's story, like the previous ones in the series, is a lovely blend of humor, heart, and heat. Both dragons, Z and J have a lot of raw power between them, and, as is the way with dragon shifters, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. I'm a sucker for the trope.

Juniper was raised by wolves, who found her abandoned when she was a child. Since then, she has become a black ops operative, working with her wolf- and jaguar- shifter brothers and a female vampire friend to bring down any and all threats to supernaturals and humans alike. They run into Zephyr while on such an op, and Zephyr immediately feels the mating bond. Juniper does too, but abandonment issues have her holding him at arms length. Zephyr joins their team as they pursue supernatural human traffickers in the New Orleans territory and beyond. When Juniper's forgotten past suddenly finds her, a wrench is thrown into the works. Juniper suffers a sight identity crisis, though none of it adversely affects her ability to bring the bad guys down.

The missing star is due to the plot having a slight identity crisis of its own. Though there is definitely a romance element, Z and J's mating is pretty much a foregone conclusion; there are no real roadblocks that threaten the relationship. Juniper's past is also clearly important, but in many ways, it is secondary to the trafficking storyline (Juniper is too much of a professional to let personal issues distract her from an op). However, the trafficking storyline by itself doesn't present much of a challenge either. There's enough going on between the three subplots to make the book very enjoyable, but it's hard not to feel a little disappointed at the end simply because everything was just a little too easy.

This criticism isn't enough to put me off this wonderful supernatural series or the author though, not by a long shot. Reus' characters are just so delightful and her supernatural worlds so well developed that any future novels will push to the top of my to-read pile.

I received an ARC of the book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

This was awesome! This is part of a series, but can definitely be read alone. I truly enjoyed every page, and was completely caught up in this story. I felt the characters were very well written and balanced and the story had just the perfect amount of PNR.

Absolutely amazing! . Juniper and Zephyr are well-developed characters. He is definitely an Alpha male, but I enjoyed his interactions with Juniper. She has some abandonment issues, which related well to the overall arch. I enjoyed seeing how the dragon shifter tackled human trafficking. It was definitely suspenseful and the romance was great. I highly recommend it.

This book was provided to me by netgalley. This is 100% an honest review and all my own thoughts and opinions about the story I read.

This book... This book WOW... I'm a little lost for words. This book has a lot of what I dream of in a paranormal romance. This has dragon shifters. Did u hear me? DRAGONS!!!! a rare shifter type and apparently the author knew this for they wrote this into the story that dragon shifters were thought to be extinct. This is definitely a play on fated mates and at first, who you thought was going to be the love interest, wasn't at all who it is going to be!

The world in the book is open and the author plays with this fact by including other dimensions and worlds where you can go through portals to reach them. This story was a unique look into enemies to lovers or in this case the hunter and hunted (shape shifter vs witch) in the middle of the war and mixed with forced proximity and fated mates.

Would recommend and will be checking out more of the authors work

This is book 5 in the Ancient's Rising series and I would read the other books in this series before reading this one or you may be lost as to things that are talked about that happened previously. In this one we get Juniper and Zephyr's story. Juniper is part of a black ops team that hunts down dangerous criminals. She is a dragon shifter who was raised by wolves with no idea who her parent's or clan is. Since the fall, her team has been hunting down the worst supernaturals, the ones who think rules don't apply to them. During one mission, she meets a warrior dragon who she knows is trouble right from the start. Zephyr doesn't feel as if he belongs in this time period. He has been reunited with his brothers but he doesn't feel like he fits in any longer. And then he meets Juniper and knows he has met his mate. And while he is trying to make her realize what they are to each other, there are other forces at play that may keep them apart.

I absolutely loved this story! Juniper and her team were great and I loved them all! I loved her interactions with Zephyr and the fact that she knows the things that are holding her back. She is more self aware than most people. I was slightly confused at the beginning because I don't remember Juniper in any of the books before, but then a certain someone is mentioned and it made sense to me! I loved that Zephyr is the type of male that knows that a female is strong and not afraid to follow her lead! The sexy times were hot and definitely showed the chemistry between them. But more than that-the connection these two had from the start is what sucked me into the story and kept me wanting to know more. Of course now there are more characters that I need stories for, but that is what I loved about this series!

Another great book in this series. I loved Juniper was just as much of a warrior as Zephyr. He was willing to let her led and be in charge, and it didn't make him feel small. King and his peeps are all great. Still don't like who the lion is probably going to end up with.
