I will say I struggled to finish this book. I wanted to like it and by all accounts should have but something stopped me from really falling into the stories told. I know this is a book that I will have to try again in the future so that I can see if I was approaching it from the wrong perspective/time in life, or if the book just really doesn't suit me. I tend to love anything in the Horror genre and short stories.

Wow, Stephen Gallagher really knows how to write. He can craft a story and realistic characters like few others. The writing is crisp, efficient, and effective language for moving the story forward. I really enjoyed all the stories in this book, some more than others; my favorites were "The Beautiful Feast of the Valley" and "The Backtrack", but they're all good in some way. As for the production value, Subterranean Press has a way of formatting their books beautifully, and this was no exception. The whole thing is a masterpiece of storytelling and creativity.
