I just never get tired of this series! Lucy is an outcast in her own family. Or is she? Donal, an Agent of the Crown, is tasked with protecting her after an attempt on her life. These two will grow closer as they work to discover who wants her dead and why. Exactly who is Lucy? Mystery, intrigue and romance abound in this Regency Romp.
Thank you Meara Platt, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

The Bluestocking and the Agent of the Crown

Someone wants to kill Lucy. She has deadly secrets she knows nothing about. She must go on the run with an agent of the Crown. A necklace she is wearing holds the clues. What will it reveal?

This is a lovely romance. It grabbed my attention from the very first page. The suspense starts from the very beginning and keeps you turning the pages. Who wants to kill Lucy, and can Donal protect her? Will he prove to her that she is lovable, contrary to what she believes? I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story and would recommend it to those who like Regency romance with mystery and intrigue.

This is book 13 of a series which might explain why the beginning was so abrupt. (I haven’t read the previous books.) There wasn’t an explanatory introduction to the characters – not even a prologue. I almost felt like I was missing a chapter or two from the beginning. There were also references to other characters and events in the past that were not in the telling of this book.

The romance was interesting (mild steam) and the mystery/suspense was engaging however I prefer my h’s to have more chutzpah. Lucy came across as a sighing wall flower through much of the book. Donal was your typical strong protective alpha although the reader is repeatedly reminded of his status as “one of the best agents of the Crown”.

This was only an ok read for me as I struggled to finish this.

I can always count on Ms. Platt to deliver a captivating and romantic tale and this certainly did not disappoint. This is the thirteenth book in the fantastical series Book of Love in which individuals reading the book together fall in love. Not realistic, but oh so romantic! Lucy has always felt like an outcast in her family, everyone always doting on her sister. She has only experienced any type of real love from her sister and doesn't truly realize how special she is. When Donal, an agent of the Crown, is tasked with protecting her from assassins hired to kill her, he realizes just how special she is. Danger surrounds them and things are not what they seem as Lucy learns her parents are not who she thought they were. A beautiful and heartwarming story that is full of intrigue, danger, and romance, you will not be able to put it down. I was hooked from the beginning anxiously turning the pages to see how things progressed. With wonderful characters and captivating storyline, this story is one that is definitely not to be missed and I wholeheartedly recommend!

Who is Lucy?

Lucy grew up as an outsider in her own family.
Donal is her protector (aw). This book had more suspense than normal for this series (it is book 13).
It moves at a fast clip and I enjoyed Lucy and Donal, as they figure out who Lucy is and why she''s a target.

I received a free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a series that, though I read the first several, I have not read those immediately before this one. I felt a little confused at the beginning, as it feels as if it picks up in the middle of some of the action from the last book, but after a few pages it was minimal. This series is always a guarantee of a fun mystery and a sweet love story along the way, and this was no exception. As in previous books, the characters are not strangers, but have some connection and personal issues that prevent them from expressing themselves well. In her case, she’s never really felt loved. I will likely pick up the books I’ve missed to catch up again, as I forgot how much I enjoyed this series.

Meara has brought the final Brayden boy to heel and tamed him in awesome fashion.
It had to happen, and it was wonderful to read.
I loved the book and the story, a strong woman and a lovely lady who tames the man protecting her.

They need to find the spy who’s turned on the system that they all follow, treasonous plots follow them and family issues need solving, but will their relationship survive the upheaval.
Excellent drama and romance that will have you on the edge of you seat.

Miss Luciana Lessing is a blue stocking who happily hides away in the library instead of dancing at the ball. So why is she suddenly running for her life??

Donal Braydon is in service to the crown. His new task is to protect a young lady from whoever wants her dead.

This is a fun-filled historical romance that follows a certain book through various hands. The "Book of Love" has been responsible for many happy marriages but not everyone wants to read it. The danger to our heroine is very real. She needs to discover some family secrets before she can know who wants to kill her.

Although this is part of a series, each book can be read alone.

Great fun.

Someone is trying to kill Lucy Lessing. The Duke of Wooten has assigned his best agent to protect her. Why is someone trying to kill her, and why is it a matter for the Home Office?
Brayden and Lucy make a hurried trip across England to the safety of his grandfather’s manor on the coast.

He is a professional; she is assignment, and a whole lot more. Donal already cared for Lucy when her father (she doesn’t know he’s her father) tasks him with her protection. Their interaction is charming, at times laugh-out-loud funny. She is an inquisitive chatterbox, full of questions. Donal has been passed the Book of Love. He doesn’t put much stock in it’s magic, but Lucy is fascinated. This is an exciting story. There is danger, intrigue, family secrets, murders, romance, and a father-daughter reunion. There is quite an assortment of characters, a brave swoony-worthy hero, a feisty endearing heroine, nasty villains (they get what they deserve), great friends and family. It wasn’t hard for Donal and Lucy to fall in love with each other, and it isn’t hard for the reader to fall in love with the two of them. The Book of Love has worked it’s magic again, and is on its way to Rafe Quinten, the Brayden’s cousin, in the hand of the lovely Lady Augusta Nesbitt as a favor to Lucy and the Brayden brothers. This is another in a delightful series of happily ever afters. I enjoyed and recommend this delightfully entertaining story.

The Treasure of Love by Meara Platt is the thirteenth book in the Book of Love Series. This is a totally unrealistic series, in which a book causes people that read it together to fall in love. That being said I love it. It s upbeat, happy (mostly), and leave a smile on my face. Platt writes good characters. Although not deep, they are intelligent, good, and loving characters. In this case, Lucy Lessing has had a hard bringing up up, with parents who don't seem to love her, in fact, shunt her aside at every turn. She has spent hours wondering why and has come up with nothing. They dote on her sister, who fortunately loves Lucy and has made her life bearable. Now, all of a sudden, Donal Brayden is saying she must come with him, he wants her. She had been doing what she normally did when attending a ball, hiding in the library.

Donal is a government agent and does what he is told. He is intelligent, courageous, and very handsome, like his brothers and cousins. The last thing he needs is to fall in love. He doesn't care how happy they are. It's not for him. They are now on the run and doing things that are beyond the pale. Pretending to be married and sleeping in the same room. Lucy is shocked and aghast, but she trusts Donal and so tries to do as she is told. When they get to his deceased grandfather's home, they start researching, trying to figure out why someone wants her dead. It is something both of them are good at, the research. Not characters with a lot of depth, but lovable, nonetheless. The whole thing makes me happy with just enough plot to keep me satisfied. I recommend the entire series.

London 1821
"She was reading the Book of Love."
Donal certainly did not mind since it had been given to him and he had no intention of reading it.
What he had to to do was get her to safety and away from the killers.

Lucy had no idea who wanted her dead, but she wanted to read that book, since she had never felt any love in her life except from her sister. She could not believe how Donal seemed to think she was beautiful.

As these two are on the run, truths begin to come out and as they grow closer, it seems that the book just might be making it's magic happen again!

Once again, Meara Platt did a fabulous job on the characters and the plot. The story was entertaining throughout. I knew this book would be as romantic the other books in the series. Donal and Lucy were a perfect pair and a great addition to the series. I love the Brayden's and the Farthingales. I am looking forward to reading Rafe's book next.

Donal Brayden is the top agent for the Crown and finds himself in possession of The Book of Love. It was passed on to him after his brother and sister-in-law were married. Donal has been given an assignment by Duke of Wooton to guard Ms. Lucy Lessing as someone wants to kill her. She is a bespectacled, bluestocking, and boring; but that is his work assignment. He finds her in the library of the Duke of Edgeware reading his book. She is reluctant to leave with him but finally picking up the book, they head for the carriage. Gun shots ring out as they try to enter the carriage and soon it is incased in fire. Just who are these people and where is his driver? The story develops from here and becomes quite interesting. I enjoyed the characters and how they worked together to find out who is after them. Another wonderful novel, great drama, and interesting read. Thank you, Meara Platt.

Meara Platt’s thirteenth book in her The Book of Love series is beautiful, sweet, heartwarming historical romance, with a whole lot of intrigue. Donal Brayden has been assigned to protect bluestocking Lucy Lessing from a killer. As they flee London, Lucy takes the book of love with her as she wants to unravel the secrets of how of all kinds of love. Their safe house is Donal’s grandfather’s estate, where the couple learn about love, each other and unravel the mystery of why someone wants Lucy dead.

This was an amazing read, full of intrigue, love and great characters. Donal is an iconic hero - swoon worthy, and I loved Lucy, spunky, relatable and her obsession with the book of love is endearing. The sparks they generate were great. This is one of those books that you have a hard time putting down because you want to read what happens next, find out why the killer is after Lucy, what her family story is and most of all how the love story will play out. It’s that special kind of story that sticks with you. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series and going back to read the previous 12.

This book began in a confusing way. It seems much of the action took place in previous books and, having not read them, I was in the dark. Donal and Lucy must flee London because assassins are after Lucy. I'm not sure if this was known in the previous book but we do not learn the reason why until much later.

Our heroine Lucy has possession of a book about love. Her parents didn't love her, no one loves her. Well, maybe her sister and possibly one friend who comes in at the very last chapter. Lucy goes on and on and on internally, and externally, about this lack of love and why she is so unloveable. But, thank goodness, she is sweet and has a positive disposition.

Our hero is an Agent of the Crown. Did you know he was an Agent of the Crown? If not, it is mentioned every other sentence.

There is a mystery surrounding Lucy and our MC's must try to solve it while staying alive. I did enjoy much of the story but the repetitive nature of Lucy's boohooing and Donal's status as an Agent of the Crown were a bit much.

Beautifully romantic, I thoroughly enjoyed this heart-warming story. The characters are delightful and complement one another perfectly. On the run from hired assassins who want to destroy her, Lucy is bemused and confused, trying to understand what all the fuss is about. Totally unaware that her parents are not the people she thought they were, things start to fall into place as a new understanding of her true identity comes to light. Donal is a professional agent for the Crown and his job is to protect and serve, but once his heart starts to open up to Lucy, he knows he is a lost cause. The fact that Lucy has so little understanding of how sweet and precious she is, makes it hard for him to separate his feelings from his responsibilities, but the more time they spend together, the more he comes to appreciate the intelligent and resourceful young woman. Rather than fainting and bemoaning her fate, Lucy works with Donal to stay the course until such time as they can find a safe place, all the while trying to understand why she has been targeted. The novel comes to a sweet conclusion with the promise that The Book of Love still has work to do. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Donal Brayden is the Crown’s top agent and he will need all his wiles to protect the bookish Luciana Lessing from the villains who are after her. He has no idea who they are or why they want her, only that they will go to extraordinary means to kill her. As he takes the beautiful bluestocking into hiding, he realizes two things. First, that Lucy is not the Lessing’s daughter but her necklace may be a clue to her true identity. Second, that he is falling in love with the brainy beauty. Luciana Lessing grew up feeling like an outcast in her own family. Her parents doted on her sister, but mostly ignored her, never once showing her affection. As they try to unravel the mystery of her true identity and those of the villains who are after her, she finds herself falling in love with Donal.
The Book of Love has its thirteenth outing & another engrossing read. I loved the patient Donal but Luciana’s constant chattering did grate on me at times. There's the added elements of who is trying to kill Luciana & what's her true identity. Not as light hearted as previous books but I loved the mystery & devoured it in a sitting
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

You will fall in love with Lucy & Donal right from the start. A truly endearing and genuinely sweet couple. Learning the secrets of love together to build a fabulous foundation.
Donal is tasked with Lucy’s protection when her life is put in jeopardy. Lucy has spent her entire life feeling unloved and unappreciated in every way. This leaves her with an undeniable innocence and fragile self worth. But these qualities also make her a selfless and loving woman. Spending all her time wrapped in a book, she is a fount of knowledge to fill her nervous chatter. These two must go into hiding to escape the threats against her. Many unknown mysteries await as Lucy learns the reasons behind the threat on her life, and the truths of her origins. But the growing love between Donal & Lucy is never a mystery! A sweet and endearing love story of a book mouse and her protector.

Another Brayden finds love in the Book of Love saga. As an agent for the crown, Donal has risked his life for king and country. Now he has been assigned protection to a woman who is in danger, but has no idea why. Lucy has grownup feeling unloved, not knowing why. She reads the book of love, hoping it will provide insight to her dilemma. Little did she know love would come in the form of a protector, who would give his life to save her. Donal tries to hide his feelings, but cannot in the end. He knows some of why Lucy is being targeted, but not everything. As they travel to avoid her pursuers, they try to discover Lucy’s past, searching for answers. What they discover explains much, but not all and the danger is still following them. They need each other more than ever. But will love be able to overcome duty?
I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Book of Love shows up again in the hands of Lucy Lessing. Never knowing love except from her sister, Lucy wants to learn the meaning of love. Donal Brayden has been assigned to protect Lucy from assassins. Questions can only be answered by the past. Her true identity with the necklace is the key. On the run there is only one man she can trust to protect her, Donal Brayden. Lucy wants him to read the book, but he thinks he already knows everything about love. On the run will bring them closer together.
Lucy's incessant chattering gets a little tedious, even though that is a big part of her personality. Donal has more patience listening to it than I do reading it. Not nearly as funny as some of the other books, but a nice ending with answers.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
