Rachel loses the job she’s had for the last ten years as a hotel concierge in one night when a rich entitled jerk doesn’t get his way. All she’s worked hard for seems to have gone up in smoke and she’s faced with taking a job at a budget hotel chain. However, another option presents itself when a friend recommends Rachel to another friend starting up a boutique hotel/lodge on an island off Lake Erie, miles away from Miami Beach. Rachel would have to take a chance and leave the only home she’s ever known in Florida, the father of her child (a total deadbeat dad). I was totally on board with this gamble, especially when the owner/proprietor is revealed to be a hot reclusive guy.

Mason was a good guy, and it was apparent he had a sad past, but this was the perfect situation for Rachel and her three-year-old daughter. Of course, I knew there’d be a romance coming and I couldn’t wait! These two deserved each other and every happiness I hoped was coming. I loved that Rachel found a such a perfect life situation in an unexpected place by making a last minute, sort of impulsive choice by taking a job so far from home. I found the process of starting up the hotel/brewery fascinating! Choosing the layout, theme, and décor, sounded like a lot of fun. I could picture the cabins and brewery, with all its rustic charm and it sounded like a place I’d love to stay!

The Suite Spot was a sweet, easy-going romance. Rachel and Mason were firmly friends before there was romance and I appreciated that strong foundation. It was a low drama romance with the conflict coming from another source. The Suite Spot was book two in the Beck Sisters series, however, you don’t need to read the first book in order to enjoy this installment. It works well as a standalone since it’s focused on a different couple.

I alternately listened and read the book and I thought Sarah Naughton did a fantastic job with both the male and female voices. She also narrated Float Plan, which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. Total recommend! I listened at 1.5-1.7x normal speed.

I want to preface this by saying that I did not read the first book, so anything that was important to the plot from the first book I do not have any knowledge of.

Now, I am absolutely obsessed with the trope of the hard-working single mom getting to achieve her dreams because the handsome rich single man decided that he wanted to help her more than he wanted to do anything else in the world. So obviously I fell in love with Rachel and Mason immediately.

The storyline is cute, and the kids are even cuter. I love all of the relationships that Rachel formed with the townsfolk, and the kind of family that all the Islanders had that included Mason. All of the so-called supporting/background characters in this novel deserve to have their own fully fledged out arcs and I would read every single one of them. The world building in the story is just incredible and I hope it comes back sooner rather than later.

The author handles grief really well, there is a lot of heavy subjects included that I felt were handled very appropriately and added to the story without feeling uncomfortable or mismanaged. it is very important to read the trigger warnings before going into the story, but that being said, I highly recommend even with the more sensitive topics that it deals with.

I really enjoyed this and listened to it as an audiobook. The narrator is very clear and has incredible timing and the story itself is a masterpiece. if you haven’t picked up a copy yet, what are you doing?

I enjoyed this book. It moved quickly. I love how supportive all the characters were of the main characters. I'm glad the whole custody issue didn't drag out.

This was such a sweet, heart-warming romance. It is the second book in the Beck sisters series. I did not read Float Plan (and this works fine as a stand-alone) but I want to remedy that situation after loving this one.

Rachel is a single mom who has been holding out hope for her daughter's father to step up for too long. Professionally she loves her job at a high class hotel in Florida but after a guest reports her after she turns down his advances she is adrift. When a coworker mentions there is a Brew-hotel in Ohio in need of a manager she decides to give it a go. When she arrives in Ohio the hotel is not as advertised...as in it isn't hardly started let alone close to opening. The furnished housing is also not as advertised and happens to come with a roommate, the Brew-hotel owner.
Mason, the owner, is coming off a divorce and has lost his motivation to get the hotel running. After losing his young daughter will Rachel and her daughter being in his life be more than he can handle or just what he needs.

Mason's back story was heart-breaking and comes with some trigger warnings at the beginning of the book but I felt it was handled in a way in which that the book still felt light when all was said and done. Now if this was a trigger for me I'm sure I would be saying otherwise so do go in prepared as needed.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press, Macmillan audio and NetGalley for advanced copies of this one for review. The narration was very well done and I would recommend this on audio without hesitation.

Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan audio for this ARC audiobook. Having listened and enjoyed The Float Plan, I was looking forward to meeting Rachel Beck, the older and more serious sister of Anna. Unfortunately, Rachel's story did not grab me in the same way. The ease in which she was welcomed into the Kelleys Island community felt artificial and her relationship with Mason (and his extended family) was just TOO PERFECT to believe. The scenarios that Rachel found herself in felt contrived and the big conflict that broke Rachel and Mason up is a trope that has been played out time and again with a resolution that, like the rest of the book, was too easy. The biggest highlight of this book was finding out what Anna and Keane have been up to since the end of their story.

I really enjoyed this book but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. The storyline was good but it felt like there was minimal built up to the romance part so I didn’t quite believe the connection. Individually, I really loved each character. Overall it was a quick read with a great ending. I recommend checking this one out.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a free advanced copy of this ebook and audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Anna and Keane’s story in the Float Plan but I think I loved Rachel and Mason’s story even more. I’m not sure why, but I was getting major Muskoka vibes from the rustic resort. The drama was short lived at the end which I liked. All the relationships felt very real. Overall a really cute Rom Com.

This was a sweet and special story about a single mom who just needs a helping hand. After she is fired from her job after a patron gets handsy and turns it around and accuses her of assault she takes a nowhere job until she is given a number for a job in Ohio. After some deliberation with her mom who has been her primarily help with her young daughter, she takes the job and she and her daughter drive to Ohio for the job. Mason is grumpy and lost and really only knows about brewing beer and not about running a hotel and that is what he hired Rachel for. Little did she know she was hired to literally build and get running the hotel. Not only do they build a hotel together but they both put their lives back together. This was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lovely romcom. Narrator did a stellar job. Loved her voice and speed. The MCs were adorable. Very much a feel good story.

The Suite Spot is one of the most endearing reads I’ve read this year! Single mom Rachel is wrongfully fired from her job at a hotel and she is offered a job a tiny island in Lake Eerie to manage a brew hotel where she finds not only her dream job but a family of quirky characters and the handsome recluse Mason, who owns the hotel. I loved all of this book. The sense of community on this island is amazing, the characters are so alive and quirky and fun. The writing and story is lively and beautiful and touching. I loved Rachel’s journey as she found her place and her dream. And I loved the slow burn too of Mason and Rachel as they figure out how to move from a working relationship to a romantic one. I loved the shyness in their love at first and the adorable awkwardness as they developed their crushes on each other. I would’ve loved Mason’s POV but only because I loved him so much. Rachel’s narration was perfect and balanced. Their romance was so cute and I loved their chemistry too. I loved the book club and how much kindness there was in this story. There were some trigger warnings for this so I would recommend checking those—they’re listed at the start of the book, which I appreciated. But this book is emotional, it takes on heavy topics, while remaining light and heartwarming. Truly I adored this. I just wish this hotel and characters were real because I’d book a trip there in a heartbeat!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I had read a previous book by this author and enjoyed it too, but this book had everything I love, small town feel, two likable characters, and a sweet romance! It also helps that I have been to Kelley's Island and the surrounding small Ohio towns that are described in this book. I love this unique setting and highly recommend this book! The author was fantastic as well! 5 Stars!

Rachel Beck takes a risk accepting a new job at a new brewery & hotel on a tiny island in Lake Erie. With her young daughter in tow she drives from Florida to start her new life. She arrives to find the hotel hasn’t finished construction and the owner Mason is more interested in the brewery. The money is good and helping design the hotel is becoming her dream job. The downside is until the hotel is finished she needs to share the house with grumpy Mason. Rachel finds a small and welcoming island community where she joins in a yoga, a bookclub and gets her daughter in pre-school. She also eases down Mason’s walls and they inspire each other as they work together.

I like that although there is attraction but things are handled realistically. Rachel is cautious because of her past, her daughter and the employment relationship. They are not swept away by passion but take baby steps into a relationship. Intimacy is minimally described. The child in the relationship is young and very much a child complete with tiredness and needs for attention. There is drama from the baby daddy that was expected from the set up. I think the least realistic thing for me was Rachel not consulting a lawyer before making huge decisions.

This is a sequel but was easy to enjoy as a stand alone. I haven’t read the first book, Float Plan, featuring is Rachel’s sister. But the main couple visits in this book. (My daughter has the book so I will probably read it as well.) I listened to the audio book with narration by Sarah Naughton. I enjoyed her storytelling and soothing tones. This isn’t a rom-com but a contemporary romance with a couple who have had challenges in their lives. If that appeals to you I think you’ll enjoy the story as much as I did. Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an audio book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this story. It depicted anxiety accurately, was family centered, with some tasteful romance. It was a nice break from romance novels that don’t focus on anything else but romance itself. I would definitely recommend this book!

A very cute romance novel. Part 2 following “Float On”.
Enjoyed the various vocabulary words in different languages that were provided in the beginning one the chapter. Gave readers a preview of what was to come.
And loved the body positivity!
Recommend to those who enjoy family drama/romance.

Rachel, luxury hotel night manager, has her world turned upside down when she’s fired for something she didn’t do. Taking a chance, she moves her and her three year old daughter from Florida to a small island on Lake Erie to help run a brewery hotel. Its owner, Mason may have misled her into thinking the hotel wasn’t a construction zone, and it’s going to take a lot of work before it’s ready to open.

I am a sucker for a single parent romance, especially when the kid says the most adorable stuff. I appreciated how hard living with a young child would be for Mason after losing his daughter so tragically. Maisie’s moments were adorable, and I especially like all the moments with the moody cat.

As someone from a small town, I appreciate the little bits of community that we are exposed to - yoga, book club, antique stores, etc. It was nice to see Rachel become part of the island and get more of a support system.

This was a quick listen and I thought the narrator did a great job. I would say this book would be medium spicy (we get some steamy moments but not a lot of description).

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of "The Suite Spot" in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book. This is exactly what I needed binge reading a book is so much more satisfying than binge watching TV. I found myself smiling while reading this. I appreciated the authenticity of the conflict/tension towards the end of the book and I loved the resolution. I haven't read "Float Plan" yet but definitely will after reading this. I really enjoyed this and it was a little dose of happy.

After reading and loving Float Plan by Trish Doller, I was excited to hear that her next book would follow the heroine’s sister, Rachel. While The Suite Spot can technically be read as a standalone, there are several mentions of and even an appearance by familiar characters, so I recommend reading Float Plan prior to starting this one.

After getting unceremoniously fired from her job, our heroine, Rachel, is stuck in a rut, in her life, her career, and with love. Deciding to make a new start, she uproots her and her daughter’s life for a new career opportunity on a small island. Only her new job isn’t *quite* what she expects, and her boss, Mason, turns out to be a grumpy, but handsome recluse with a mysterious past. But as she makes new friends, becomes an integral part of Mason’s business, and gives in to the spark of attraction she feels with her boss, Rachel realizes that she’s finally found a place she could potentially call home.

At its heart, The Suite Spot is a beautifully written, thoroughly enjoyable love story about second chances and new beginnings. It’s heartfelt and emotional, without being overly angsty. It’s slow-burning, but with a bit of steam. And it touches on heavier topics, without being too serious or intense. With a romance that’s sweet and tentative, protagonists that are endearing, yet saddled with emotional baggage, and an eclectic cast of characters that give the narrative a fun-loving, tight-knit feel, The Suite Spot, is a swoon-worthy, evocative, entertaining read.

The audiobook made this a truly delightful listening experience. While I typically listen at 2x speed, I slowed it down to savor the story, but even still, the narrative seemed to fly by. Sarah Naughton's narration helped me delve deeper into Rachel's character and become more emotionally invested in her journey, which I appreciated.

Many thanks to NetGalley, St Martin's Press and Macmillan Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of this wonderful new book by Trish Doller - 5 stars! This is book two about the Beck Sisters, following The Float Plan, but it would read perfectly as a stand-alone as well. But read Float Plan because it's wonderful too!

Single mom to young Maisie, Rachel loves her job in an upscale Miami Beach hotel, until she is fired by an incident not of her doing. She decides to take a job as a manager at a new brew pub/hotel which is her dream job, except that it is located on a Lake Erie Island, Kelleys Island, in NE Ohio. But she takes a breath and moves. There she meets Mason, owner and brewmaster, who is floundering and has exaggerated the state of the facility when he offered Rachel the job.

I adored this story, just as I did Float Plan. It's a wonderfully-written story of second chances, trusting, community. These characters feel like friends, ones you want to sit with on an island with a beer. I've done just that on Kelleys Island, so I loved the setting. Each chapter opened with a foreign word or phrase that perfectly captured the topic of that chapter. I alternated reading the digital copy and listening to the wonderful narration by Sarah Naughton. Don't miss this heartwarming story!

A very sweet love story, supposed to be a romcom, but I am just going to say there were not many laughs. Rachel used to work at a very nice hotel in Florida, when a sleezeball guest tried to take advantage of her, which ended with the truth being twisted and Rachel being fired. Having a young child to care for, she started applying for jobs when a friend suggested her dream job, only problem? It was in Ohio. Deciding to take a chance, she packs up and moves to unknown territory. Insert a good looking grump, and no hotel in site. Will Rachel and her daughter head back to Florida, or stay and live her dream of building a hotel from the ground up with a grumpy boss?
The book was very sweet. There are a few adult scenes but nothing very spicy. There is mention of child death before the story actually starts, so the entire time I was hoping nothing happened to Rachel's daughter. It was a good story but I do not think it should be listed as romcom.

How much can I rave about this book, and Trish Doller? I adored Float Plan, book one in this series, but I'm not sure which book I loved the most. They are both absolutely incredible, each in their own ways. It's a tie!

I love the travel industry aspect of each book (I work in travel myself), with Anna running off on a sail boat, but this one is about Rachel (Anna's sister), working for a big hotel in Miami. Both books tackle some very difficult topics, with Anna's huge loss, and this book being a bit on the lighter side - though Rachel still has some difficulties in her life to overcome. Mason also has a tragic past.

Rachel works at one of the best resorts in Miami Beach as a night concierge and manager. One of the entitled, Rich, regular guests tries to take advantage of her and in an attempted sexual assault (#metoo), pulls the "rich white dude that knows everybody and always gets his way" card, and got her fired when she wouldn't accept his advances. Having lost the job she loves and needs, and can't get another decent job in the surrounding Florida area (likely blacklisted after that, by the other rich and entitled white dudes), and having a 3 year old daughter to support, Rachel accepts the advice of a former coworker to contact a friend that runs a Brew Hotel in a former winery, on an island in Ohio (Kelleys Island), Mason.

While a difficult place to find anything out about, she is immediately hired, packs up her life, leaves her Mom and her daughter's deadbeat father behind, and drives across the country to start a brand new life. Getting to the island, she finds a partially built hotel that is nothing like it was talked up to be, an extremely grumpy new boss, and wonders what she has done to herself!

This is a tale of new beginnings, finding themselves, where they belong in the world, finding their places, and forging new friendships and families. The main characters, Rachel and Mason (the grumpy hotel owner), with their forced proximity, find themselves - with each other - and in the new friends on the island. They grow and change together. The grumpy cat finds a new best friend in a toddler. A deadbeat father sorts himself out. An historical family home is loved once again. Drama and hardships are figured out - together.

The chemistry all around is brilliant. Trish Doller is such a beautiful storyteller. I wish there was another Beck Sister to get another Beck Sisters series book! I can't wait for more brilliant works from her to be lost in the storylines again.

I absolutely recommend this book and series to everyone, and especially to listen to the audio - Sarah Naughton does a superb job again, as with Float Plan! 5-stars to Trish for the writing and also to Sarah for the narrating.

I received an ALC review copy from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, and this is my honest feedback. Thank you!
