Enola has another case to solve and this one involves the disappearance of her best friend, Cecily. This is a story that young adult readers will enjoy trying to decode secret messages and seeing Enola best her older brother, Sherlock, in her latest case.

While I did enjoy the story, I was disappointed that Sherlock didn’t seem to be able to piece some of the clues together. I was hoping to see more cooperation between the older world famous detective and his younger sister and perhaps some mentoring by Sherlock.

𝐄𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐚 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐬 is so witty and brilliant, and I just love her. Last year, I really enjoyed 𝘌𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘢 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦 and was so pumped to get an ARC of this next book in the series!⁣

While 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘌𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘥𝘦 is enjoyable, I can’t say I enjoyed it as much as 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩𝘦. The premise isn’t quite as exciting as you would typically expect from a 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐬 mystery and honestly seemed a little bit silly to me at times.⁣

But what I 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 appreciate about these books is that they are short, sweet, and full of witty banter. And I loved the strong presence of 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 in this one!⁣

I think that this second incarnation of this series has lost a little of the charm of the originals, but they are still very fun and nostalgic for me :)

I love this series so much! Clever women and wonderfully written plots. I recommend these to anyone who enjoys mysteries and puzzles.

A jaunt into the world of Arthur Conan Doyle with a twist. Enola the younger sister of Holmes brothers has found her own way. She has set herself up in school, and with a reputation of solving problems was able to create a sideline business of sorts. This is her second adventure in trying to help her friend with a difficult time and an abusive father. Enola has a way of not expecting things to happen, her attempt to check on her friend becomes a jail break, and she is faced with Sherlock as her opposition as she tries to save her friend. A misadventure old friend. A great lighthearted story with strong female roll models for young girls.

Another book in the Enola Holmes series! While I have enjoyed this series I do wish the feminist vibes weren't so in your face. I would rather be shown how strong and capable the women in the story are instead of constantly told by the author.

I really liked the split personality storyline in this one, it may be my favorite Enola book yet!

Using all her guile, talents and disguises, Enola rescues a young woman being held prisoner in her bedroom by her own father, who has determined she has been ruined and therefore will marry anyone he chooses. Enola helps her escape, only to lose her and have to track her down, which only Enola can do. The father turns out to be even more terrible than suspected and Enola is truly the heroine who sets the family free.
Delightful to read a story without topics and subjects many young adult novelists try to incorporate. Purely and adventure.

A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series, but reads well as a stand alone. For me, these are just fun reads. I enjoy the mystery, Enola's interactions with her brother Sherlock and her growing up. They are interesting to read. Still not sure I understand what a coddled egg is though. I would highly recommend to young people and anyone who reads cozy mysteries. 4 stars

I do enjoy the author's depiction of Sherlock's little sister. Enola is bright and witty and very much her own person. the burgeoning relationship with Sherlock is delightful, as they get to know each other as individuals. it's funny watching Sherlock in his exasperation, but then acceptance, of Enola's quirks, much like his own.

This mystery brings back Miss Cecily and her dual personalities, and her ghastly father, who has locked her up with plans to marry her off as soon as her hair grows out. Cecily escapes (with some help from you-know-who), and the battle is on!!

excitement and adventure ensue, as Enola brings Lady Vienna into the plans.

A satisfactory conclusion to this case leaves us anxious to jump into the next installment.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. Another great mystery in this series. I felt like you did need to read previous ones to enjoy this one as several characters were back again for the new mystery.

This latest in the Enola Holmes series for young adults finds the titular heroine living in a women's club and growing closer to her famous brother. She is trying to make a living as a perditorian - finder of lost people and things. Enola is an unusual case for a young lady in Victorian England. Typically a young woman is under the care of her nearest male relative until they marry. Lady Cecily Tyson, one of Enola's friends. Enola has had to save Cecily several times from her controlling father. This time he refuses to let Enola see her friend, so Enola helps Cecily escape, only to lose track of her altogether. Enola must find Cecily, evade her famous brother who is also looking for the missing girl, and check on Cecily's mother. The situation is exacerbated by Cecily's dual personality - one who is cooperative and daring, and the other who is meek and mild. I was pleased to read this next installment in Enola's story. Fans of Sherlock will enjoy this, and it is a great introduction to the Conan Doyle stories with a decidedly feminist slant. Readers should start with the beginning of the series, but there is enough back ground to read the Elegant Escapade on its own. Why would you want to though?! I was excited to hear there was another Enola Holmes adventure available but sadly, this one fell a bit short for me.

Enola has matured a little, although she was already mature beyond her years. She's comfortably ensconced in a boarding home for other ladies of proper breeding and independence. Enola's brothers have calmed down and agreed to leave her to own devices, and Enola has enrolled in some classes at the women's college. She becomes aware that her friend from a previous story, Lady Cecily, is being kept prisoner in her own home by her greedy and heartless father. You may recall that Enola had an opportunity in the past to assist Lady Cecily, and though they hadn't spent much time together, Enola considered Cecily to be a very close friend. In true Enola Holmes style, she sets off to free Lady Cecily and get the world to know about the treachery of Lord Alistair, her father.

For me, this went a little sideways with the left-handed business and at times it seemed like this was taking a different direction. I'll likely pick up the next one in the series, should Mrs. Springer decide to continue the series but I'll just say that this one could have been better.

I was really excited to read this, having thoroughly enjoyed the first Enola Holmes book. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The plot line was very weak, which was too bad as it could have been much better based on research of understanding the time period and views of mental disorders from the time. Enola is a wonderful character but we didn't really get any deeper insights into her character in this book. All in all, a disappointment.

The title of this book was changed to remove the slur for the Romani people, but the book itself still used it!!! That really is not acceptable in this day and age and does a lot of harm. It was impossible to even get into the book as this was so jarring and offensive.

Do better.

I love any and all Enola Holmes stories. Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade did not disappoint! I loved following along with the case and seeing how Enola and Sherlock figure it out.

Another great Enola Holmes saga! I really like Enola as a character. This book had a good plot line that moved along at a good speed. I was captivated by the world building and it was easy to read. If you’ve previously enjoyed a book from this series, definitely pick this one up. If you haven’t read any and you enjoy YA historical fiction, this is a great series!

I love Sherlock Holmes to my very core was my introduction to mystery novels as a child and made me fall in love with the genre.
So naturally I was drawn to our dear Enola I adored this books it was a fun adventure that will get kids interested in mysteries without all the old language of Sherlock. Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a fun mystery

My favorite teenage sleuth is back in “Enola Holmes and the Elegant Escapade”. Enola hears that a friend is confined in her bedroom from a bully of a father and sets out to help. Lady Cecily escapes her father and goes on the run into the city. Unique and complicated, Lady Cecily has been pressured to conform to societal standards of being right handed which has caused a split in her personality. Working along side Sherlock, Enola works on a plan to stop Lady Cecily’s father once and for all while helping Cecily become the Lady she was born to be. Full of subterfuge and Enola’s own brand of trouble, the story is fun and fast paced for a compelling mystery that can be shared with the whole family. I'm so glad that Nancy Springer's Enola Holmes books are reaching new audiences due to the Netflix adaptation. Enola is finding her stride in the Elegant Escapade, rescuing her sole friend Cecily from her brute of a father. Sherlock appears to be at loggerheads with Enola, but will it be sibling vs. sibling?

Great addition to the series. Recommend purchase for MS, HS
