Someone said "chronically online sally rooney" and they were right. It's one of those collections that starts fascinating and slowly starts to grate on you. Sometimes I like a bit of grating, but it just felt so much like it was trying to be academic and modern, and like it didn't care if I didn't like it, so I put it down around 50%.

I wanted to enjoy these stories more than I did -- seeing as I'm more or less the target audience for them. But maybe that was the problem? They hit too close to home? Regardless, I just never found myself gaining traction with the collection, the ennui was a little too... well, too close to home.
