Haven Marbury is an aspiring illustrator, looking for a big break, but for now, she has to clean out her late father’s seaside home, Malice House. Marbury was an award winning horror story author, but thanks to some very bad decisions at the end of his life, Haven is left nothing but the creepy old house. She hopes to be able to sell the house, but first she has to clean up decades worth of clutter. When she discovers pages from an unknown manuscript written by her father, Haven believes she may be looking at a fortune. Bedtime Stories for Monsters isn’t her father’s usual type of work, but the macabre short stories should still bring a pretty penny, and if accompanies them with her own illustrations, she might be looking at a huge haul. But the longer haven is at Malice House, the more she begins to wonder if her father’s manuscript was based, not on his imagination, but on what’s happening in the walls and under the beds of his house. One of the creepiest and most fun books I’ve read in a long time. This book gets my vote for best haunted house book of 2022
