This was pretty mediocre in my opinion. I was hoping it would have been a lot funnier and more engaging than it was. I felt like the format was a bit odd for an audiobook as well.

A very entertaining listen, but this did not feel like I was listening to an audio book. I felt like this was the audio recording of a night of stand-up. I really liked it once I got over the idea that it was a book. I am a fan of both Rachel Bloom and Jay Pharoah, so this was really enjoyable!

This was a really quick and fun listen for a road-trip! (Slight warning: this is not a work-friendly or child friendly listen, so use your headphones!)

I love Rachel Bloom and was excited for this audiobook but the format of essentially a stand up routine was not what I was expecting. My favorite part was that it was the audio because that made a huge difference here, otherwise this was just average.

I loved the Saudia book in Hope to every higher power that they have another just like it. It was like being at a comedy club without the smoke in the Hacklers. I loved Rachel Bloom and although she sounded a little nervous she made me laugh I also love Jay Farrell and thought the first three comedians were hilarious my husband and I started listening when we ate lunch and didn’t get up until after 3 o’clock we laughed so much especially to the guy who said he can’t watch dead porn stars but they have so many other hilarious moments in this audiobook and I sincerely and absolutely loved it! I received this from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review. A totally hilarious audiobook!

Essentially 5 hours of standup about "Love, Sex, Etc."
Introduction by Rachel Bloom & Jay Pharaoh- enjoyed Bloom, Pharaoh not so much. They also had skits in between some of the other comics- I would say I enjoyed these 50/50.
Each "chapter" is a different comic, all new to me.
Chinedu Unaka- did not enjoy his style of comedy
Chris Garcias- seemed very freshman, wasn't reading the crowd reaction and continued his jokes with no laughs anyways. Skipped most of his set.
Sydney Battle- loved her voice! "Smart" comedy, more story telling style than stand up- wasn't getting the laughs from the crowd the previous comics did, which disappointed me. I would happily watch more of her work. I appreciated how she tailored her skit for the audiobook- speaking to the listeners not viewing audience to clarify that she is black to explain her joke
JB Ball- not my style of humor, don't appreciate his "online dating is settling for the trash remaining" take
Danielle Perez- she has an adorable laugh, valley girl style of speaking, did not realize she is in a wheelchair until halfway through the set- she did not tailor to the audio book as Battle did, enjoyed her set
Zach Noe Towers- started with "Y'all f***ing?" to give you a good example of his set, 8 minutes of fingering and threesome jokes
Aisha Alfa- jokes about "winning" in relationship arguments
Nate Jackson- Slut shaming, not a fan
Morgan Jay- singing comedian, not my taste so I skipped
Noah Findling & Sydney Steinberg- married comedian couple, not a fan of her voice, didn't enjoy their bantering style for the skit, skipped most of it
Ron Taylor- basically a demeaning love letter to his past roommate that hooked up with him during quarantine. Girl you deserve better
Luke Mones & Alyssa Limperis- comedian couple, together for 6 years and it shows, they have a great rhythm together and were clearly having fun performing, heavy on the Greek jokes and it wasn't clicking with me
The Sklar Brothers- actually comedians I've heard of! Suprise! Didn't know them by name but by Google search lol Great banter as usual from them- enjoyed this skit even though it was parent/child focused
Mike Lawrence- bathroom jokes early in, SKIP
Atsuko Okatsuka- unique voice, fun skit where she brought her non-performer husband on stage with a buzzer to object to certain jokes as she poked fun at him
James III- yet another skit that didn't play well as an audio book, showed a sketchpad from HS as part of his first joke

General review: this doesn't perform well as an audiobook- most of the skits are not tailored for an audiobook, most treat it as a stand up performance. In the host skits, Bloom always clarified jokes for the audiobook and Pharaoh did not. I would have enjoyed this more as a comedy special to watch, not listen to. The title of the audio book- Kiss & Tell: Stand Up & Stories About Love, Sex, Etc. is clear, you should expect stand up and many many sex jokes. If my favorite skits hadn't spoken to the audiobook I may not have wanted the difference, but I appreciated those more than the standard skits in this book. Generally an easy listen, definitely listen with headphones. I don't think I would have made it through the entire thing if I was listening just for me, not to review. I'm glad I did listen because I discovered a few new-to-me comics but I definitely skipped a good portion of the skits because they weren't to my taste. 2 stars based on not liking the majority of the performers and the poor attention to the ACTUAL audience- audiobook listeners.

Content warnings: discussion of sex, use of N-word, rape jokes, vaccine jokes, Trump jokes
I recieved an ARC (AAC? lol) in exchange for my fair and honest review.
