This manga makes me want to read an idol manga!

Tachibana and Onda both work at a cafe. They're otaku friends until they decide to give dating a try. There's a lot of talk about idols in this (obviously) and from what I've read recently, and also having lived in Japan, I feel like there's a slight turn towards "otaku" being associated with something more positive than in the past. With the rise of kpop groups, my students were always showing me merchandise and telling me about their favorite songs and groups. This is what this manga felt like. It was all very positive and fun.

I could use more romance now that they've gotten the idol bit squared away. Also, the scene with Onda and Kiwa definitely gives off a different genre vibe that I would also enjoy reading. Spin off? Haha

Why was this SO cute?! It’s definitely different than a normal josei manga but it’s got a nice light feel and an interesting premise! I really love the idol talk and I enjoyed the talk about gender not being a “requirement” for liking an idol. Love what you love!

The art style is very adorable and I liked how the mangaka was able to give us some adorable scenes with the two main characters. I’m excited to see where this manga takes them!

The story is meh even if it was cute seeing the couple be idol fans…

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for the volume 1!

(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)

Synopsis: Tachibana works with Onda-san in a café. They are friends but also true hardcore Idol fans. Suddenly, Onda-san confesses his love to Tachibana, leaving her startled. She thought about it and said, why not start to date someone who shares my fan idol interest?

As always, this book caught my eye first of all because of the cover. It has beautiful drawings, and it's easy to read. I love how it showed the male character being a hardcore fan of a male star because we don't see this a lot in mangas or general books. However, I can't give it 4 or 5 stars because it didn't keep my interest in it. In my opinion, everything happened too fast. But maybe you could enjoy it? So give it a try.

*WARNING: SPOILER BELOW*

I meant that the relationship shifted so fast from friends to lovers. Like they were friends, and they started dating in the blink of an eye. I would enjoy it much if it was a slow-burn romance and after that, they became boyfriend and girlfriend.

This was a super cute and quick read. Male idol fans are always treated really differently from female fans so I could totally understand Onda-San’s feelings. Their relationship blossoming over this shared interest and the fact that they could be their genuine selves with each other was adorable and heart-warming. The artwork was beautiful!

DNF. This manga did not gel with me at all unfortunately. I get mangas typically can tackle anc create the weirdest of topics, but this was super weird. The plot made minimal sense, and the characters acted really oddly. Maybe it is because I am not a manga guy, and wanted to give one a shot, but for me, this was not very good.
