La protagonista di questo manga è decisamente carina questo è certo (assomiglia parecchio a Lucy Heartfilia), ma anche parecchio egocentrica e con poco cervello.
I suoi compagni di classe ci han messo due capitoli per andare a chiedere che problema aveva Medaka con la protagonista. E lei ancora non riesce a chiederglielo? Con tutto il suo carisma e la sua carineria?
In effetti è stato abbastanza ripetitivo questo primo numero e scommetto che anche il finale del primo volume finirà come al solito.
E' tutto sommato comunque una lettura divertente e piacevole.

The protagonist of this manga is very pretty that's for sure (she looks a lot like Lucy Heartfilia), but also quite self-centered and with little brain.
Her classmates took two chapters to go and ask what problem Medaka had with the female protagonist. And she still can't ask him? With all her charisma and her cuteness?
In fact, this first issue was quite repetitive and I bet that the ending of the first volume will end as usual as well.
All in all, however, it's a fun and enjoyable read.

This wasn’t my favorite. The female lead is too annoying. She needs to have every male fall in love with her. I don’t like that at all. She’s trying to seduce a boy just because he didn’t show interest. He has a life goal and she’s going to ruin it. I won’t read anymore of this series..

This manga is about a girl that always get what she wants. She's the queen bee. The only thing she can't have is the attention/love of the new guy at school. This is a popular guy / nerdy girl gender switch that made my heart so warmy. One thing I didn't appreciate was the fan service, those were things that kinda made the experience not so nice for me, that wanted just the fluffy part. Besides that, awesome mangá, I hope to read the next ones.

Nothing is worse than having a story be average. Both great and terrible stories can be talked about for weeks on end; average ones tend to linger in the air for just a blink of an eye. I say this because Ran Kuze’s Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms is as average as a rom-com manga can get. And after spending a bit pondering over its first volume, I can’t help but feel nothing about what I just read.

The manga follows Mona, a popular high schooler who can capture almost anyone’s attention. Medaka Kuroiwa is the reason for the “almost anyone” part, as she cannot find a way to woo the recent transfer student. But when Mona’s not looking, Medaka is trying to get his feeling er for her out of his head. His reason: he’s the son of a monk, and his temple forbids all romantic relationships.

On the surface, the premise of Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms sounds like something that can get some mileage. Mona’s interactions with Medaka in the first chapter are pretty funny, especially regarding catty chats and fan-service-y shots. The fact that Medaka treats Mona with disdain is brought out with such great polar opposite personalities. Mona’s bubbly self is a great contrast to Medaka’s shrewdness, which could make for some great comedy down the line.

But the moment the great what-ifs this story could do fade from existence is when Medaka’s monk self is revealed. I get that a lot of romance manga plays on plenty of confusion, but this is an excuse that could easily be talked about in one single sentence. All misunderstandings would be cleared between Mona and Medaka, and she wouldn’t be trying so hard to get a ruse out of him. The issue is so simplistic, that the fact that Medaka has said nothing about it to Mona is just downright frustrating!

Adding in a character like Tsubomi also does nothing to freshen up the story. She’s no different from the weird stalker-y types that we’ve seen in the past like Komi Can’t Communicate or My Idol Sits the Next Desk Over. At least she’s not super-psychotic, with Mona kind of glad she took pictures of her instead of Medaka. While it’s a gag that’s been done one too many times, at least it doesn’t reach criminal levels of cringe.

Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms could have had so much potential. Sadly, it’s just another shojo rom-com with a premise that could easily be solved with barely ten words uttered. This is the kind of manga that easily forgettable as soon as one reads the final page of it, with there being nothing unique to be shown throughout it. As such, I’m pushing Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms out of my brain, so as to make more room for the more interesting things in life.

I'll give this title points for our leading lady. It's nice to see her sheer confidence in herself in this fan-servicey title. She's the one pushing her affections on our male lead, and it's nice to see her feelings becoming less of an act as the volume goes on.. The added bit about him being a monk in training is funny, but I was hoping he wouldn't be in to girls or romance at all, just to continue to shake things up. If you like this sort of title, you'll probably like this one, too!

Such a funny story about a súper popular girl trying to get a shy guy to fall in love with her charm but little does she know that he is a monk in training haha. A light hearted comedy with funny scenes. Can’t wait to see what will happen next

Overall I thought this was a good book it had a solid cost of characters it was funny easy to read and although the theme is a bit shallow and seems very Skindeep I am very much enjoying the lightheartedness of this series and I will continue on to read volume two as I think it’s a fun easy read that kind of boosts your happiness.

I don't usually read Manga, but I picked this up to try something new - and I quite loved it!

Mona-Chan is a popular girl in the school - in fact she won't rest until everyone is in love with her and falls at her feet. But, the new boy Medaka isn't interested and does everything he can to push her away. This only makes Mona try even harder and more ridiculous schemes to get him to love her.

I had no idea what to expect with this and did find some of it a little crazy. Mona will do anything for that wow factor to get attention. She comes off as vain and silly and some of her stunts are a little cringe-worthy. But, at the same time she really grew on me and I loved those little moments where she let her real self shine through a bit, even if it was accidental.

Medaka is in training for priesthood and has cast off all relationships - he uses multiple strategies to not fall for Mona's shenanigans but you can see him struggling.

This was a quick read, and fun - it does end on a fairly dramatic cliff-hanger and I would definitely pick up Volume 2 to find out what happens.

This was a pretty fun manga although it had many fan service bits 😂 Mona does some drastic things to try and seduce Kuroiwa but he barely reacts. It's funny because when you see his inner thoughts, he's deeply affected by what she's doing and it seems like he's slowly falling for her. He always acts like a gentleman though and never takes advantage of Mona. I also really liked the side story with Haruno-san and thought the misunderstanding she had with Mona was hilarious. I love how supportive she is of Mona though, it's so sweet. I can't wait to read more and see if Kuroiwa ever succumbs to Mona's charm.

Mona is the queen bee at school, beloved by everyone. Well, almost everyone... The new boy in her class Medaka is the only person in school who hasn't fallen for her charms and it is driving her up a wall! What follows are Mona's hijinks as she tries to get him to fall for her (and perhaps fall for Medaka herself).

In ways this felt fresh. Mona is unlike the usual shojo protagonist in that she's unabashedly in love with herself. Yet, within just one volume her attempts to attract Medaka got pretty repetitive and felt like typical fanservice. For his part, the gap between what Medaka thinks and what he shows was endearing but I feel like there needs to be more of his parents/upbringing at the monestary shown to really drive the point home of where he's coming from. I think I'll give the second volume a shot to see where this develops because there's a foundation here that can definitely get better.

Honestly I though Medaka was so cute but I had a hard time rooting for Mona because of how forward/shameless she was, and how she never took the time to consider how Medaka might be feeling about all of this. The fanservice was a little much but the art was so adorable and I can already see their relationship developing into something more so I’m looking forward to see what happens in the next volume!

Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms (vol. 1) is about well, boobs. There's not really much else going on. Our MC is a popular girl in highschool (which is... bad for what the plot is) and everyone basically wants her except for a new transfer student. Because of this she desperately tries to seduce him but it doesn't work. She thinks it's because he hates her but in reality he's a monk (or training to be one??). That starts their journey of him seeing her in a lot of bad ways.

This was bad. The entire plot was just her showing him her boobs in order to get him to love her. Wouldn't recommend.

Mona is used to people falling for her, however, there is one person who is not showering her with attention. Mona is determined to have Kuroiwa to fall for her; however she seems to be falling for him. What she doesn’t know though is he is training to become a monk and forbidden to have intimate relations with girls. He is trying his best to refrain from falling for her, which is why she also thinks all he is doing is scowling at her. Mona is actively being aggressive to get what she wants, but it doesn’t always go as planned and she ends up in some awkward situations.

I enjoyed reading this volume,but Mona does come off too full of herself. I am curious on how the series will continue.I like the twist of Kuroiwa trying to refrain from the temptation/ rejecting her and love all the reactions we see from him.

It is a pretty quick read and there is fan service throughout it.

A funny rom-com which focuses on the 'it girl' of a high school, and the new transfer student who seems to be the only person not noticing her the way she would like! In order to sustain her pride, she is determined to make him fall in love with her!

Medaka Kuroiwa and Mona are two very different characters - one trying to make the other fall in love with her so she can move forward and reject him as she always does, and the other avoiding temptations and keeping his vows to the priesthood. As her attempts get more and more bold, things get more difficult for both of them!

A very fun and great start to this manga series, look forward to the rest of it!

This was def a cute read, very rom-com. It is def a little on the smutty side as our FL wants the guy who seems to not care that she is cute and desirable will stop at almost nothing to seduce him. Our ML is a monk in training - the fact that she has no idea is the sad but funny truth of miscommunication.

It is geared more to male teens but that doesn't mean that others won't enjoy the silly antics of high school romance.

The art style is cute and for those that might complain that she is too busty...as a teen, I had what was considered an "adult" figure so it isn't out of the ordinary.

First want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review! No, just no. Female lead is a borderline rapist who thinks everything is about her. When I learned why the Male Lead was always denying her advances and then the scenes after that was just disgusting. The girl can't take NO for an answer and basically sexually assaults him in the nurses office. If you consider this romance you might want to go see someone for that.

This fun shoujo follows queen bee Mona, who has been popular, pretty, and admired her entire life. Any guy she wants, she can get... except for new transfer Medaka Kuroiwa, who just makes faces, turns away, and refuses to talk to her whenever she tries to flirt. Assuming Medaka hates her, she decides to step up her game-- not realizing that Medaka is actually a monk in training trying to resist how cute he finds her.

This was a decent read! I loved the dynamic between the two main characters and I loved that instead of having a rival storyline, Mona and Tsubomi become friends and Tsubomi roots for her. However I wasn't super ensnared by the characters and the humorous moments were really the only things that stuck out. I think this is probably best for a younger audience.

When I started this manga, I worried that it would end up being one I didn't finish or just skimmed through.
However, it completely won me over and now I can't wait for volume two!

I admit, I was slightly annoyed with Mona (female MC) when I first started reading. She's the typical "I'm pretty, I know I'm pretty, Everyone Loves Me, I can get/do anything I want cause I'm pretty" and she comes on so strong and conceited at first that I didn't think I would enjoy this manga.

Then we meet Medaka Kuroiwa, the male MC. I did find it amusing that he rejected all of Mona's advances and flirting, he was just "whatever" when it came to her, sometimes even to the point of "really? seriously?" haha and I loved it. I was thrilled it wasn't going to be an instant "cute popular girl wins over the quiet broody guy", I love that the author made a character who wasn't completely charmed by the "I'm pretty and popular Queen Bee" girl. Medaka Kuroiwa kept me reading this manga.

And then the story really started developing and we learn more about our guy, we see the not so confident side of our girl which does make her much more likeable and relatable. Now the flirty chase has become awkward and cute with an additional character added in.

By the end of the volume, I was enjoying the story and ready to continue reading volume two. Although it was a rocky start, once past that first little bit, the story takes off and the manga develops a cute storyline. I'm looking forward to seeing what the author does with it.

Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms, Vol. 1 by Ran Kuze is a shonen manga that wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The story revolves around Mona, a popular girl who has been admired wherever she goes. One day, Medaka transfers to the school, but despite giving him all of her attention and seduction attempts, he still treats her coldly. Why won't he pay any attention to her? And is she falling for him?

Overall, Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms, Vol. 1 has an interesting premise, but I wish that I had known about the target audience before I started reading it. I would consider this book to be 18 plus, because of the suggestive sexual content. Although the characters don't have sex, there is plenty of fanservice, including panty shots. I didn't feel comfortable reading this, and I would not feel comfortable putting this in a classroom or school library. I feel like this book is definitely for adults only. As a result, that is why I took off 2 stars. If this is the type of book that you're looking for, you can check out this book, which is available now.
