This was a really sweet middle grade book, with some of the most gorgeous art I have ever seen. Would have maybe preferred more depth and length, but it is probably fine for the target audience.

A special thanks to NetGalley and Diamond Book Distributors for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I read this illustrated book after reading The Dragon Universe and I thought that this was better in terms of illustrations and stories. I liked the creepy aspects of many of the stories but similar to the dragon illustrations, I liked some better than others. Many of the illustrations, specifically the little fairies, were not exactly my cup of tea in terms of artistic style, but I think fairy enthusiasts would enjoy this book. Also, similar to the dragon book, I think this would be a much more enjoyable physical reading experience than an ebook experience since I think the book would be better enjoyed that way.

Overall, I liked the lore but the artistic style for many of the little fairies was simply not very engaging to me.

A gorgeous collection of illustrations featuring all different faries! My favourites are the Ludwig and Morgane - This would make a lovely coffee table book.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Diamond Book Dist. for a copy for review!

WOW. Welcome to the most beautifully written and illustrated encyclopedia for all things fairy! I can't articulate how much I loved this! The stories kept me entertained for hours. I escaped and was a part of every story, not just because of the writing. Still, the illustrations brought a wealth of imagination and transportation into a beautiful yet sometimes dangerous world! This book will be a favorite of anyone who loves fantasy, fairies, and magical worlds!

I NEED a physical copy of this book, and it will be something I come back to repeatedly! Must-have for any fantasy and imaginative reader!

The Fairy Universe is a spectacular treat. The art is intricate, dramatic, and often downright stunning, moving seamlessly from colorful double page spreads to pencil drawings and back again. The care taken in each decision about design and layout is easy to see, and the attention to detail pays off. The evocative art and few sentences of description for each fairy create the illusion of rich and detailed stories despite their "simple" elements.

My one disappointment is in the lack of representation. The female fairies in particular have very little variety in body shape and white skin tones. The art is beautiful, but it is not diverse.
There is also female nudity for those who would prefer to avoid it.

I'm very excited to page through a physical copy of this book. I can only imagine how much more wonderful the full-size art will be when compared to the images on my tiny phone screen!

Cannot give feedback. File will not download/open.

Attempted troubleshooting of deleting & redownloading the main Netgalley program for viewing/reading/reviewing books on the PC, still would not open The Fairy Universe while it still opened other similar Netgalley download files. Attempt three downloads of The Fairy Universe file but none of them open & I received an error (Unload to download - Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY).

I'll be looking for a copy once it's published.

I wish I could give feedback, because this book looked like something I would have loved to display on my shelf. However, I had issues with the download and couldn't view the file.

Unable to view on devices, which was truly disappointing, because I love the art on the cover. There seems to be a lot of positive feedback about this book, so I'm going to look out for it in book stores.

I was mostly interested in this book as a reference text and on that level it did not disappoint at all. The interior art is absolutely gorgeous. Don’t have much to say except that I am excited for the release of a physical version, and will likely be returning to this text often.

Unfortunately this was only available as a file download and not on the netgalley shelf app and despite spending 2 hours downloading various apps I could not read the file and have given up. Please consider making this available in the app.

This book, illustrated by Olivier Ledroit, reminds me of other fairy books I have seen in the past. However, unlike them, there are quite a lot of fairies in here I have never heard of - I assume they have sprung from the creator themselves. Quite lovely. This book is full of secrets and surprises. It is so intricately illustrated that you could look at it dozens of times over and still find things you hadn't seen before.
Definitely recommend it to fairy enthusiasts of all types.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book

Gorgeous illustrations and the stories within them were also interesting, calling back to some popular literary works featuring art/fairies. I do wish that there weren't quite so many naked female-presenting fairies, or at least they throw in some naked male fairies too because it can be quite gratuitous for no real reason it feels like.

The Fairy Universe by Olivier Ledroit and Laurent Souillé is amazing, beautiful fairy encyclopedia. I remember getting encyclopedias like this when I was kid at Costco. I loved going through the entries and reading about mythical creatures that I had never heard of before. This book is a throwback to that series and includes detailed drawing for every entry. According to the description, this book "offers us the keys to this magical and poetic universe through hundreds of drawings by Olivier Ledroit... spread over double-pages in watercolor and pencil."

Overall, The Fairy Universe is an amazing, detailed encyclopedia with gorgeous illustrations. One highlight of this book are the beautiful artwork. The fairies and elves are depicted enchantingly, and I couldn't stop turning the pages to see more of the art. Another highlight of this book is the amount of research that the author must have done in order to create this encyclopedia. There were plenty of interesting creatures that I had never heard of before. If you're intrigued by the description, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in May!

This is a beautiful art/informative book for fans of the Fae or that general universe of mythical creatures. Not only is it FILLED with beautiful and fun artwork but the small snippets of story and descriptions of the different creatures are very interesting. I thought I knew a lot of different folklore related creatures but there were tons in here I'd never even heard of. A great read!

The illustrations in The Fairy Universe are absolutely gorgeous and captivating and some of them so detailed that I spent ages looking at them and taking in all the details. The little descriptions of the different fairies and other creatures were partially creepy and sweet, and some were downright hilarious. In honestly wish this book was longer, and I’d love to read a full length book about a few of the characters depicted in this book, because I absolutely adored some of them.

The illustrations in this book are very well done. The descriptions were interesting and fun to read. Some were rather dark.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is so pretty and creepy I love it! I loved all the illustrations and stories about the fairies! My only complaint is that it's too small; it should be at least 100 pages longer!

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this!
