"Seventeen-year-old film noir fan Neve Lanier is a girl who just wants to be seen but doesn’t really fit in anywhere. When Neve is betrayed by her best friend, Yasmin, at the end of the school year, she heads off to a girl’s empowerment camp feeling like no one will ever love her again. So when she grabs the attention of the beautiful, charismatic Diane, she falls right under her spell, and may accidentally promise to murder Diane’s predatory step-brother, Javier, in exchange for Diane murdering Yasmin. But that was just a joke…right?"

This book was a wild ride. I started it without having read the description and I was happy I did. The description describes everything that happens in the first half of the book. This was a fast pace and very quick read. If you are a fan of YA thrillers and can suspend believability this is a fun read!

This was a miss for me. Maybe because I don't know Stranger on the Train , which this is a retelling of?? So maybe if you know the original this might be more enjoyable. I did enjoy parts of this book, the mystery was good, but the ending got a little to weird for me, and it killed the vibe.

II appreciate the strangers on a train vibe of this title, but I could not get into this title. It was a DNF for me. I did purchase this in print for my collection because I think it would appeal to some of my teen readers.

I was not really a fan of this book. I wanted to be. I loved the premise of this book but when it came down to the actual plot there was just way too much going on. I think it would have been better if the author spread out some of these ideas among several different books instead of just putting them all in one.

Thank you NetGalley for e-audio arc. I was super excited to read Dig Two Graves. I thoroughly enjoyed #Murdertrending by this author. However, I found myself not enjoying this nearly as much. The protagonist, Neve is a film noir buff, she quotes old movies and dresses like the females of the time period. One the one had she stands out because of her style and her snarky attitude and on the other she continuously comments about her lack of socialization, being unable to read people and not wanting to be seen. I had a huge question mark in my head while reading this.
Also, I felt the characters weren't fully developed. Neve's father has some sort of mental disorder and is nervous all the time, The friends were sort of put together haphazardly.
That being said, I would still recommend this to a reluctant reader. The plot is a good one and worth the effort.

I was excited for this book, but everything went downhill for me after they returned home from GLAM camp. I didn't feel connected to the characters. There were too many characters and not enough character development so I didn't feel invested in their outcomes. I think the plot had potential, even though it was a bit unrealistic. Something just didn't click for me. I did, however, enjoy the narration!

I'd say it leaned more to the "Young" of "Young Adult", but I still enjoyed it. I did not anticipate the twist and was kept wondering what would happen, although it did take me about half way into the story (possibly less) for me to truly get into it. Overall, I appreciated the narration. One thing I dislike about young adult audiobooks often is that older narrators can't seem to speak for teenagers in a plausible way and I believe she was successful in the younger voices, however she did occasionally make Diane seem excessively young and it didn't quite match what I likely would have read for the character if I was reading for myself. All in all, it was an enjoyable book. Thank you to Netgalley, author, and publisher, for the early copy!!

Thanks to NetGalley for an early audiobook copy of this book.

Started out good with a high school party and fight between friends. Shortly after that, the main character went to camp, and I still found that part interesting.

Suddenly after camp, it all went downhill. I found the plot very far-fetched and unrealistic. Fast paced but not deep.

Characters are pretty shallow. Plot isn’t super interesting.

I read this ARC via Netgalley.

After her best friend Yasmin turned on her, Neve isn't sure about making new friends, even at Glam Camp. But she soon finds a friend in Diane, and by the end of the two weeks, Diane proposes a deal: Diane will kill Yasmin, while Neve will kill Javier, Diane's stepbrother. Neve agrees, but only as a joke. Then Yasmin turns up dead. How can Neve get out of the deal?

This story was slow to start, with lots of time spent at camp and developing Neve and Diane's friendship. Sure, there were some red flags, but it just took a long time to get to the meat of the story: what happens when Yasmin turns up dead. After that, the pace picked up and it was a race for Neve to figure out how she can get away with *not* murdering Javier. There were plenty of twists and turns that almost resembled a "Cruel Intentions" scenario. Neve's bisexuality gave this a little boost of interest.

This book was fantastic! It had great twists and kept me guessing the whole time. The major twist at the end really did me in. For a YA novel I really enjoyed it and I know my students will really love it. I wasn’t crazy about the audio because it was very tinny sounding but eventually I got used to it.

DNF'd this one I got to 50% and was just not enjoying it. Sorry I would have rather just said I don't want to review it but you didn't give me that option. I just couldn't get into this one. sorry I don't know what else to ay hopefully it's 100 characters now.

the narrator Chelsea Stephens did a good job

BTW they made me do a star rating I would not have rated this one as I did not finish..

I really expected to like this based on the description, but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't like the narrator's voice or style, and I found myself instantly disliking the characters. DNF

I received a free audio version of this book thanks to NetGalley. The book started out like any good YA book does, and so I thought maybe I was confused by the title. The main character was kind of unlikeable, but in that way that is just a semi self centered teenager - so that was fine. Once the story really got going though...it was fast-paced and kept me interested. But I also found that...once I put it down, I wasn't in a huge hurry to pick it back up. There were portions of back story that were alluded to a lot, but were never really fully explained - and they were interesting, so I wish they had been more front and center. Portions of the story were just a little too hard to believe plausible, hence the three star rating. But, I would totally still put it on my classroom shelves. I think a lot of kids would really enjoy it.

I do not have many DNF as a reader, but I could not go on halfway through the book. The main character was not well developed and flat. The character development was all over the place and did nothing to move the plot. I really wanted to like the book as the summary was right up my alley, but unfortunately this was a miss.

Oh well, I tried to read this book. I really did, but I gave up after listening to a bunch of characters just cuss at each other. I wasn't born yesterday. I know that realistically that's how a lot of teenagers talk, but I don't need it in my YA books. I can just step out into the halls to listen to that. I'm really surprised that Disney put this out.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this ALC. Chelsea Stephens was a fine narrator, but this book is definitely not for me.

To be quite honest, Dig Two Graves was not my cup of tea. I personally did not feel a connection to the characters or plot, but can see the areas in which another might.

I felt the overall storyline was slow paced while relationships were quick, shallow, and nonsensical. I am a fan of mysteries/thrillers and found the twists in the plot to be underwhelming and sudden. I typically am a fan of fast paced stories with lots of action, so those who don’t mind the slow build will likely still enjoy the story.

The premise of the book was fantastic though. The concept of a killer best friend, blackmail, and shady characters are a recipe for an entertaining disaster. The cover art and description of the story will do a great job drawing in readers immediately.

I received this book in audio format and did enjoy the narration. Chelsea did an excellent job being both clear with her enunciations, but also giving her voices dynamics. While I enjoy audio books overall, I can’t help but wonder if I would’ve enjoyed this particular story more on paper and maybe that would have influenced my opinions on the pacing and connections to the story. There’s just something about reading a book yourself that lets your imagination fill in the gaps you may otherwise be noticing.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for sharing this ARC copy with me to review!

I loved this YA thriller! Perfect for fans of Karen McManus! I did find the very beginning a little slow, but I don't think it will deter Teen readers. Perfect addition to all YA collections!

Dig Two Graves is a fantastic YA thriller! As promised, it's bits of Strangers on a Train and One of Us Is Lying, but also with a bit of Cruel Intentions mixed in. McNeil has created a riveting storyline, with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers wanting to read "just one more chapter" (until they've finished it in one sitting!). I've already started recommending it to people to snag upon its April 2022 release!

I experienced the story via audiobook, and Chelsea Stephens is an excellent narrator for this particular book.

My thanks to Disney audiobooks and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview this title in exchange for my honest opinion!
