Poison Pen Conundrum…
The sixth outing in this delightful series. Jessica Ellicott has created a pair of delightfully twee amateur sleuths, the very American and eccentric Beryl and the very English and proper Edwina, old school pals, meet up again following an advertisement Edwina places for a lodger and things take off from there. Set post war in the seemingly peaceful village of Walmsley Parva, the duo soon discover sinister goings on and commence their enquiry agency. This time a glut of poison pen letters gets the village buzzing. Constable Gibbs calls upon the duo for their assistance but when murder rears it’s ugly head the ladies really need to spring into action. Are the pals really chalk and cheese?....maybe....but their rapport is an absolute pleasure. They are a perfect pairing. Humour dances off the page from the first page to the last. Another delicious entry in this series.

Poison pen letters begin to arrive in Walmsley Parva and Beryl and Edwina know how evil these letters can be. They even receive one themselves and know the insidious nature of the falsehoods. But before long someone tries to kill herself over a letter and when another villager is murdered, Beryl and Edwina, along with Constable Gibbs set out to find the author of the letters. This is an entertaining series and the ability to see how women's lives were changing after World War i makes these books even more fun. Looking forward to the next book.

Someone is sending letters to locals and is creating a lot of angst. From accusations to malice, the letters are creating madness in the village. When Beryl receives a letter she finds it amusing, but others aren’t laughing and it’s gotten tot he point where Beryl and Edwina start looking into who is sending the letters and why. Will the duo figure it out so that the magistrate can take action and stop the madness? Only time will tell.

This was the first book I have read in this series and there was no gaps, so it reads fine as a stand alone. I love the blending of an American and a British team of women after WWI, when women were being relegated back to their homes when the men came home and were taking jobs back. Smart, well written and a solid whodunit. I’ll be back for more in this series.

Accusations...friendship...enemies...secrets...what next? Surprises...family...why? This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley. This book moves somewhat slowly at times, but it is worth reading to the end. Try it and enjoy.

When a rash of poisoned pen letters envelops their sleepy English village, Beryl and Edwina, the delightfully mismatched friends and sleuths-of-a-certain-age step up to stamp out the evil-minded epistles in Jessica Ellicott’s sixth historical mystery set in the wake of WWI.

Murder Through the English Post has some interesting characters and I loved the setting. Highly recommend this book.

Murder Through the Post was an unusual book. Edwina Davenport is the main character who lives in the town of Walmsley Parva, England. She lives in her family home named Beeches with 3 other people, Beryl Helliwell an old friend and partner in Davenport & Helliwell Private Inquiry Agency. Simpkins her gardener and now majority owner of a company named Colonel Kimberly. that he inherited. and Beddoes their housekeeper. Edwina has been elected the new magistrate of their town. Her first day on the bench it is bought to her attention that there are poisonous letters being mailed to the people in the town. This is where the story becomes interesting as she and Beryl try to find out who is sending these letters. They work along with Constable Doris Gibbs interviewing people. Because of these letters the doctor's wife tries to commit suicide and later another person dies. The reader is taken on an adventure to the surprising conclusion of whodunit

Thank you NetGalley, and Kensington Publishing Corp. for this ARC.

Poisoned pen letters lead to murder in this cozy mystery. I haven’t read any others in this series, so I found it a little hard to follow along since there was not much explanation of characters. I do always like the poisoned pen concept though and that delivered well!

Another fun and cozy mystery series set in a small English village after WW1. In this book Edwina and her friend Beryl have been hired to find out who is sending poison pen letters. They are full of hateful comments and sparking dissent among the villagers.Reminds me a bit of Agatha Christie's "The Moving Finger", which is also another great read. Enjoyed this one and the twists at the end. Highly recommend.

1920s, England, friendship, private-investigators, investigation, law-enforcement, sly-humor, cosy-mystery, relationships, lies, small-town, small-business*****

Why are there so many vile lying poisoned pen letters about? Is it only about malicious mischief or is one of them hiding the writer's murder of one of the victims?
Beryl is a peripatetic American and Edwina is a proper Britisher, but they were at finishing school together and became good friends. Several months ago, Beryl moved in with Edwina and they set up a private enquiry agency with the help of the resourceful gardener (who has since inherited a prolific condiment business) and the more than helpful housekeeper. The publisher's blurb caught my attention AGAIN, but the story reeled me in right to the astonishing end!
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

Murder Through the English Post is the sixth Beryl and Edwina mystery. I have read none of the other books in the series. So, how was it reading the sixth book of a series when you haven't even heard of any of the other books? Quite enjoyable!

Murder Through the English Post is a well-written cozy set in England after the Great War. Edwina and Beryl are women of a certain age who live in a village called Walmsley Parva. They're private inquiry agents and grand sleuths. Someone is sending poison pen letters to the good citizens of Walmsley Parva and Edwina and Beryl are determined to find out who is doing the dastardly deed!

I love a cozy mystery and this one was a lot of fun. I figured out the mystery about halfway through, but I enjoyed the detective work and the fully-realized setting and cast of characters. This was a swell read and I enjoyed it immensely.
