It was cute! Not terribly memorable for me, but I'm also not the target audience.

This book was so fricken good! I loved the educational aspect, as well as the book in all its entirety. This is definitely one to read if you're an ally of the community.

Great and fun quick read for the kids! It was great seeing topics discussed here that are so important to explain to younger generations. Definitely recommend.

The existence of books like this is super important, and it's always a delight to find one that's well done. It has all the elements to capture and hold a young child's attention: bright colors, simplicity, and directness. There isn't much of a "story" so to speak, this is more like a book about the ABCs or numbers. It's a good book to go over with your child just because.

I know the range for this is listed as ages 1-7, but....the author really underestimates that 4-7 range, no?

I mean...it's 13 pages long. That's short for a 3 year old.

I genuinely appreciate what the author was trying to do, but this needed far more work on the back end. There's far too much that doesn't help kids understand the message. And yes, it's the adults reading the books who are there to answer questions, but the joy of reading books together is helping kids get the information and ask the questions themselves.

This would just lead to more questions.

Frustrating.

I really loved this book! A brilliant introduction to themes for young children that may be hard to cross.

Madison, our Super Gay superhero, takes us around the park and school to meet people and find out their pronouns.

Illustrator Ray B gives us vibrant colors and large text to make it easy to view and follow along.
Jessi Hersey keeps the rhyming simple. After the one page introductions it is a pride party to be celebrated all year long.

The message is quick, simple, and effective. I love the message and the simplicity. I think this is an easy one that should be added to every school and public library.

This book was super cute!

I'd love to use this with my students because students would really benefit from this.

I also think some adults could benefit from its cute vibe.

Thank you to NetGalley and Onenesslovepublishing for an eARC of Super Gay by Jessi Hersey in exchange for an honest review.

An LGBTQIA+ affirming introduction to pronouns and sexual orientation for kiddos.

I always appreciate books that depict diversity and teach little ones from an early age to accept and celebrate difference. That being said, I wish this book would have been a little more fleshed out! It was so short and I wanted more from it! There is also a bit of a discrepancy between the title and the content. The title, Super Gay, leads the reader to believe that the content will be primarily concerned with sexual orientation, but in reality, the majority of the book is teaching about pronouns. While gender and sexuality do tend to go hand in hand, they are distinct constructs. I wish that this book would have been longer to include more information on both gender AND sexuality, or that the author would have written one entire book devoted to sexuality, and one to gender. Overall, a great first step in comprehensive sex education for kids, but it is a bit lacking in execution.

Super gay is an introduction to pronouns and the queer community. I love the illustrations and I love that this book can be a learning tools for children or even adults looking to learn the concept of pronouns that are not binary.
Highly recommended

Such a sweet little story, it was great, lots of diversity. I wish it was longer to get to know more stories about this great superhero!

A good example of a great message, with poor execution. It's incredibly short, and probably could've done with a little more.. workshopping.

A good informative book for both children and parents all about pronouns. This book isn't suited for e-reading which made it difficult to get into but I think in physical form it'll be really great.

This was a quick and cute queer comic. The art was adorably new and the story was pleasant to read. I hope the creator works on some more comics like this.

A cute book highlighting the importance of Pride throughout the year. It teaches kids about LGBT couples and attraction that is normal and to be accepted.

LGBTQ rep has never been sweeter, or more artistic. Super Gay talks about pronouns, combatting hate, and remembering to maintain love and confidence in yourself against the hate in the world. I am so glad this book exists.
So the censors know, this book isn't for you. It's the kids that need to hear that it's great to be LGBTQ, and validating to have your pronouns respected.

Super Gay was inspired. by a comment Jessi Hersey received at a Pride, and introduces younger readers to the importance of pronouns with superhero Madison.

'I protect against people who thing love shouls look a certain way."

It's aimed at kids 1-6, and is full of bright colours and rhyming text. Super Gay gently shows kids different people and couples with various pronouns. It's short and sweet at 13 pages, and further books will delve into different identities more.

My only criticism is that some may find the bright pink text on white speech bubbles a bit hard to read.

Awwwww this was so sweet❤
Very nice if you have small children and want to introduce pronouns to them.

This story is meant to be a simple read for those just learning to read, from ages 1-6, and for children with special needs.

Meet Madison (she/her) or also known as Super Gay. She is here to help young readers understand pronouns. She also wants everyone to know that love does not have to look a certain way. This short, but very colorful book pride themed book is great for readers that are just starting to read or being read to.

Kids in preschool and kindergarten will find this book very useful. They will get a better understanding of what pronouns are and how to use them. Not only does this book teach pronouns, it also presents them and the people they are attached to in an accepting way. If we can teach kids that love is love and it shouldn't matter who you love, then the world will be a better place.

This is the first book in the series. The second one in the series is currently in the works.
