I enjoyed Super Gay as a poetic/picture book approach to the graphic novel, with attention to identity.

Love it. A quick read showing how to recognize and use everyone's preferred pronouns. Its super cute. Pronouns are so very important! This couldn't have come to me at a better time really. My kid just made a new friend at school who recently came out as non-binary and she asked what it meant. I showed her this story and it helped her understand the importance of pronouns and identities at 8 years old. Being a she/they lesbian, in a queer relationship, and raising a small human this story means a lot to me and I truly appreciate it. Thank you!

This book was very cute and colorful and directed towards young readers. Naturally, it was short…but possibly TOO short. I get what it was trying to do—be an early reader book with LGBTQ representation—but I feel like there’s a way it could have been done while also having more of a plot or story to keep young readers intrigued. It had a lot of potential, but overall, it fell flat for me.

This book was adorable for a young audience. I definitely wish it were longer and explained a little more for the children who are new to the LGBTQ community & issues.

I was surprised by how short this was! I liked what was included, but I think its way too short to publish anywhere but a zine maybe? Super cute illustrations, really liked them! Would also be nice to just define neopronouns like xe/xer since the point of the story is to show pronoun usage.

This book is vibrant and fun with clear art that kids and younger readers will enjoy.

Unfortunately its extremely short and doesn't really cover anything other than the existence of a few different pronouns, so I would love to see a story just like this with a bit more length that shows a little more. For the possibility of multiple short installments though I think this is a great foundation and a fun character that will be well received.

I love the message of this book. Love is love.
I did not enjoy the artwork however, and it could be longer.

Honest review from my nine year old:

It was an easy reader picture book showing the love and acceptance of others. I really enjoyed it and the bright illustrations.

I received an advance copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

My daycare kids liked this book. Easy for the little ones to read, colours were bright and vibrant and what they got out of it is to ask everyone what they want to be called (what their pronoun is) My daycare kids even talked among themselves and shared what pronouns they would like to called by.

This is a good book for children to have to make these issues normal and make everyone feel included (if

I received an advanced reader copy of Super Gay by Jessi Hersey in exchange for an honest review.

Super Gay is a picture book written for children just learning how to read. With its Pride-themed super hero protagonist it teaches kids about pronouns. It does not going into defining what a pronoun is, but I figure that makes sense, given the book's demographic. Instead it just jumps right into she/her, he/him, as well as the singular they/them. The book even presents characters with multiple pronoun options, such as she/they and he/they. Super Gay ends with a message to celebrate love in all its forms. Short and sweet and to the point.

The design of the titular character Super Gay is good. I love how colorful she is. I also like drawings in the party scene at the end, and the various Pride flags throughout the book's backgrounds.

I really liked this book. Especially as the news is currently full of people trying to ban children from learning about LGBTQ identities, it's more important than ever for books like these to provide queer education. This book is very much a starting place; it is by no means comprehensive or exhaustive, but it is not meant to be. A book like this can open up conversations and encourage further reading and education. I'm all for that!

Thank you Oneness Love Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

Well this is fine I guess. I wish there was a little bit more information about what a pronoun is and not just listing different ones. I also think that there should have been some neo pronouns in here if we're going to make a book about pronouns let's do more than just he, she, and they. I also wished for a little bit of body diversity in these pictures. Everyone was fairly slim and it would have been nice to have some fat representation there especially for a story that relies heavily on the illustrations. There's also a line that says "we're all made to love" and I understand this is a children's book but it's also really important to not exclude aromantic people from the queer spectrum and maybe even just a clarifier there would have been helpful.

This is a book about personal pronouns aimed towards smaller children. It does not have a plot but it is a series of really cute pictures with examples what pronouns people might use.
Being a non-native English speaker I actually learned something new in this super quick read even though I am definitly not the target audience.
I would definitely recommend it for young children!

This was so cute and such an important read for children! I wish it was longer though because I need to see more adventures of super gay! If you have children then you definitely need to buy this for them!!
