The best word to sum up Engaging Emma by Elle M. Adams is cute. It's a solid, heart-warming second chance romance that I quite enjoyed. Normal, Missouri sounds like a fun, quirky town worth visiting. I loved the different characters and the dynamics between them. My favorite character might be Gran. She's the right mix of sweet, strict, and meddling to make her endearing. However, I also loved Emma and Tucker. Emma has overcome some hard things and come out stronger for it. I love that she's a business owner, pushing to make her way in the world. There were a couple of moments when I wanted to shake Tucker, but I did like him. He has a wonderful heart, even if he's not great at listening to it at times. Overall, this was a sweet story and I hope I get to read more stories set in Normal, Missouri soon.

Tucker and Emma's story is a fun read. The frustration of losing your first love to the ending you want was beautiful and diverting. I loved this book.

ENGAGING EMMA by ELLE M ADAMS is a most enjoyable romance novel that takes place in the small town of Normal, Missouri, where gossip is rife and everyone knows everyone else’s business.
Miss Lily, Tucker Madsen’s grandmother, asks him to come and help her make decisions about the sale of her property, which he finds she is selling to his first love, Emma Jane McAllister. Both Emma and Tucker have moved on with their lives - or have they really?
It is a story about choices and second chances with delightful characters who are full of ideas about Tucker’s future.
I was givena free copy of the book NetGalley from Coventry Communications. The opinions in this review are completelymy own.

Who doesn’t love a second change romance? Emma and Tucker spent a magical summer together before he went off to college while she still had a year of high school left. He has returned to their small town near Branson at the request of his grandmother to over see some some land deals. Tucker is now a doctor, lives in California and is engaged. Emma still lives in town and has started an event business in the barn she has purchased from his grandmother. The next plans are for her to buy the family house which she wants to turn into and B & B after grandma’s death. Tucker is upset about the plans for the family home but he doesn’t want to give up his life in CA. If you read it just for two people to get together this is probably a 4-5 star book.

Small spoilers ahead. For me the devil is in the details. I have a hard time calling this a romance because one of the persons is engaged until the 90 percent point. So maybe they took a pause, but this isn’t Ross and Rachel on Friends. He is not free to look at or pursue another relationship during the majority of the book. Tucker does suggest an alternate place for the B & B and slaps some paint on it. But Emma has already had plans drawn up on the other house. The monetary costs would be entirely different as would the business plan. Financially none of this book makes sense. My MBA has me wondering why Emma needs a financial backer for the B & B but she didn’t need one for the event Barn. And then with money so tight Emma sells her family home to prop up the event business, grandma replies if I’d known I would have just given you the land. I don’t know what world these people live in. And putting into a future sell agreement a clause about a non-involved party wanting first option to buy land makes no fiscal sense either. I’m willing to suspend some reality for a romance but it needs to have some plausibility. The book is squeaky clean for content and language. Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

As a first novel, this is a very strong book. A solid 4.

I have enjoyed the writing style, the writing was compelling and the characters developed well. The love story between those two was adorable. The only thing that has bothered me was how long it took them to have THE conversation but I guess I was getting impatient and in real life such conversations are quite awkward and take time. I do feel sorry for Meredith. Maybe her quick disattachment and moving on could have explained better.

Thanks Netgalley for a free copy in exchange of an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed Emma and Tucker’s love story. The story developed beautifully and naturally and I was on pins and needles waiting to see how they finally reconciled and ended up together. Gran and Nina were great supporting characters that added spunk and heart to the story. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a wonderful, clean romance.

Tucker is a successful doctor in LA. When his mother asks him to help his grandma sell the family farm, he reluctantly agrees. He used to spend every summer at the farm, back when his father was still alive. And one time before college when he fell madly in love with Emma. They promised to stay in touch but lost connection.

Now he is back and old feelings resurface again. The problem, she is the one buying the place, not to mention that he has a fiance.

It's a beautiful, well thought out story, with gorgeous writing. While the storyline is pretty straightforward, the writing makes it very compelling and addicting. :)

This was my first experience reading a novel written by Elle M. Adam’s and what an introduction it was! I couldn’t have asked for anything better! I adored the story. It was fun and exhilarating and easy to fall in love with. The writing was flawless and easy to read. I throughly enjoyed the story and had a difficult time putting it down.

Emma has only loved one man. And he had left her. Years ago. She was sure she had moved on, that is until he showed up at his grandmothers’ home saying he was told to help with the sale of the house.

Tucker had moved on from his broken heart as a young adult. He was an accomplished doctor with a fiancé and a new job at a prestigious medical office on the horizon. The last thing he needed was to revisit those old feelings but he promised to help his grandmother. Little did he know this short visit would change the rest of his life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Tucker and Emma have been friends and a bit more for most of their lives, until Tucker leaves for college. Misunderstandings and other things get in the way. When Tucker comes back to Normal, Missouri to help out his Grandma with a contract he isn't prepared to see Emma again. Emma had grown into a beautiful, strong woman. When she sees Tucker again all the old feelings come back, but so does a sense of betrayal. Lots of obstacles are in their way but I love how they navigate them. I am excited to read more from this author.

What a fun, engaging read! This story follows two people over a misunderstanding that goes on longer than a decade. I loved the chemistry between characters, and enjoyed seeing their story unfold. There are good reminders of the importance of family and remembering your roots. I will be following this author!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to review Engaging Emma by Elle M. Adams. This is the story of Dr. Tucker Madsen and Emma McAllister. Tucker lives in California, but heads back to Normal, Missouri to help his 91-year-old Grandmother with the sale of the family farm. Upon arrival, he learns that grandma intends to sell the farm to Tucker's first love Emma, who wants to turn it into a bed and breakfast. This is a sweet, clean second chance love story. I really enjoyed and recommend this book.

It was a sweet, cute romance. I thought it was well written, and I liked the story. If you are in the mood for a low key, sweet, easy quick romance, this will fit the bill.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and #netgalley for the ARC which did not impact my review.

Thanks you net galley for the advance reader copy of this novel. This was a clean contemporary romance about two people given a second chance at love. I loved the characters of EJ and Tucker and the dialogue! I appreciated that there was no sex in this book so much! I was cheering this couple on even though the ending was pretty transparent. Great quick easy feel good read!

Engaging Emma is a very cute second chance romance. Emma McAllister was just a kid when she met Tucker Madsen. They became inseparable any time he came for the summer to help on his Grandma's farm. Then his dad died and the visits stopped until the summer before he started college. In that summer Tucker and Emma fell in love. But would such a young love be able to last distance and time...it seemed as it could not. 12 years later, will things be different when Tucker returns to help his Grandma with selling her home?
This book is a sweet romance set in a cute little town named Normal, Missouri. If you like small town second chance romances definitely give this a read! Hopefully there will be some more stories to come out of Normal, Missouri and all the fun characters we met.

Wonderful book! Great characters.
This is a wonderful story about second chance love. Emma and Tucker had been friends as children. Then one day, as Tucker returned to Normal, Missouri, he saw Emma and realized she was no longer a child but a beautiful young woman and their friendship turned romantic. Tucker had just graduated from high school and was heading to college. Emma was seventeen, still in high school, and trying to help her mother after a rough divorce. When Tucker proposes Emma is shocked and says no and Tucker leaves with a promise to write to Emma. But the letters never arrive and time passes quickly. Twelve years later finds Tucker, now a doctor and engaged to Meredith, returning to Normal to help his grandmother. Emma has been engaged three times and broken it off three times, become almost like a daughter to Tucker’s grandmother, and the owner of a small, struggling business. When Tucker arrives, she sees nothing but an interference and feels sadness for the letters she hoped for and never received. Tucker can’t understand why she is so touchy, after all she’s the one who didn’t write back. This is a wonderful read with engaging characters that make you love the small town and each person’s quirks. A fun, engaging read. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes so this was a fun read for me. I loved this small town and its fun characters. I loved Tucker and Emma. Actually Tucker took me longer to fall for with his engagement and all. I'd hoped for a conclusion to that one earlier in the story but it fit well as written. I liked that the reconciliation didn't happen over night. I'm not 100% convinced that Tucker would have been happy in a town like Normal without having Emma by his side but I was glad he was willing to give that a try. Overall, this was an enjoyable read for me and I'd love to read more by this author.

No sex, language or violence

Couldn’t get into this one. It was a contemporary but read more like a 1950’s or 60’s kind of feel. Not a lot happened in the first 20%, multiple flashbacks (from both characters) and lots of details that didn’t seem necessary or pertinent. Add to that the fact that the hero and heroine had only had like two present day scenes together that were awkward and snippy and I just wasn’t invested. Plus the guy had a fiancé so either he’d have to suddenly end that relationship or we’d start veering into emotional and/or actual cheating.
Other people may like this book it just wasn’t for me.

I thought this was a fun debut from new author, Elle Adams. I enjoyed her writing style and storytelling and look forward to reading more books from her. I enjoyed the small town setting of Normal, Missouri and the cast of characters that live there. Emma is a likable heroine, who has big dreams. I like that she is kind and is always trying to help people. I also like that she didnt fall all over Tucker when he waltzes back into town. Tucker is kind of at a crossroads, although he doesnt really realize it yet. He has spent so much time away from home, but comes back when he learns his grandmother is wanting to sale their farm. It was fun to see him fall in love with the people and town that he had once loved. I did like Tucker and Emma, but with him being engaged for most the book I had wished that had been taken care of a bit earlier in the story so I could really get behind this budding new (renewed?) relationship. I'm a sucker for second chance love stories and it was nice to see them reunited after so much had kept them apart.

I really enjoyed this one and couldn't put it down!
