DNF at forty percent. I just could not get into the plot or the characters. The plot seemed too predictable for me and do not feel that I can finish this one but I want to give other books by J.A. Corrigan a chance. Thank you for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of The Bad Sister.

This was a good suspense/mystery read. I wasn't quite sure how things were going to turn out; which means it wasn't a predictable read. I had not read anything by this author before, but I am now tempted to go back and read her other book. I enjoyed the writing style and getting to know each of the sister's well. Being able to read about the same event from each of their viewpoints made the story more interesting and helped you understand their character even more. The characters showed a lot of growth and were fun to read about.

This brooding novel is without a doubt the best thing I've read this year. A deep dive into the complexities, cruelties and malice of familial relationships the considered pace of the novel builds suspense and tension creating a genuine page-turner. The characters are complex and thoughtfully drawn, even the 'bad' ones are balanced and beautifully complex which as a reader means you become fully invested. The ending was absolutely perfect and also came as a surprise. A fantastic book I'll be recommending to my friends. Now buying the author's others books!

It did take me a little while to get into this story as it was a bit confusing. The second half of the book was much better than the first half. The pace was slow. We get flashbacks telling us what had occurred five years ago. The lies that have been told drove a wedge between the sisters. There's twists and some dark revelations. If you can cope with the slow pace and confusion at the beginning, the ending is worth sticking around for.

A bit ping and drawn out but I liked the overall premise and if you struggle on then it is a decent enough book and it does get better once you make it to the half way mark. You just have to power through the start 1st. Then again, I just may prefer a faster pace of story and for anyone who loves that slow burn then you'll probably enjoy this one

I struggled to finish this book because it was so slow. It did pick up towards the end. I found the dialogue rather clunky and didn't connect or care about any of the characters. It's amazing that the book was slow because there was a lot going on, almost too much at times. I think the clunky dialogue and the plot didn't quite "flow" enough for me to really enjoy this book. #TheBadSister was quite a long book, felt longer than it needed to be. It's held my interest just enough for me to see how the story was going to play out, but I felt the author tried to hard to make the twists happen. Thanks to #NetGalley for advance copy

I really enjoyed this book told from the perspectives of 3 sisters who have lived through some tragic times. Really enjoyed the authors style of writing and loved how snippets of the truth from each were thrown in throughout the book to uncover what really happened all those years ago. Great and complex characters

I tried my best to get into this book but I am bored to tears. I loved her last book The Nurse but this is nowhere near as compelling. DNF.

I'm not sure if i just wasn't in the mood for this book but I just could not get into it. I love this authors writing so I know its not that. Will try again in the future.

Wonderful book! Really a suspenseful read while being quite sad. It reads along multiple timelines & is narrated from a few different POVs but is no trouble to follow. It centers around 3 sisters, their family, close friends & partners. I’ve never read a book by this author but really enjoyed this deeper, suspenseful book. Four solid stars.

This book follows three sisters; Natalie, Teresa and Jessica. They grew up in a prestigious home with their mother, Eva, and stepfather Dom. Eva throws an expensive party at their home for one of the sisters but tragedy strikes and the incident is covered up with manipulation and secrets. Secrets are something that the Kaene sisters are great at keeping and will carry with them to their grave.
The book follows the sisters throughout their lives and flashes back to the mysterious death of their best friend during that extravagant party. Their lies have driven them apart from one another for almost twenty years but once their secrets are exposed they must ban together to save each other!

This was a book based on sisterhood, friendship, dark secrets and fear. I couldn’t tear myself away from reading this and was floored by the ending! This is a must read if you love a good thriller filled with twists and mystery.

I find this book quite difficult to rate. I seriously considered DNFing about a third of the way in because I was just bored. There was something that made me continue though, and on the whole I'm glad I did.

There were some really good reveals in the second half of the book and I was actually hooked by the end and wanted to see how everything turned out. My issue is just that the book was slooooow. I kept getting impatient with it and for it to just move on and get to the point. When it did get there, it was good!

I would recommend the book to fans of slow burners as the story itself was actually pretty good, but it wasn't a favourite for me.

Wow, words can hardly say how much I enjoyed this book, it is one of the best that I have recently read. My whole Saturday afternoon was taken from me as I could not put this down. The book is full of suspence, the author slowly providing small pieces of information to the reader who is, if like me, asking all these questions as to what has happened and where is the story taking me.

Very much a family drama with thriller moments threaded through, totally captivating you as these dark family secrets are slowly unfolding. Wonderful characters who do the book justice, I really became totally invested in their lives and found myself being quite emotional in regard to the individual circumstances.

Loved the way the story concluded, all my questions were answered and after I finished I just sat there for a little while digesting it all, fabulous. I really cannot recommend this book highly enough. I have now purchased two more of this authors books, I really hope I am going to enjoy them as much as The Bad Sister.

Family secrets, dark and compelling.

Teresa, Natalie and Jess are sisters. They are all damaged by their upbringing and estranged by a horrific event in their past. They all mourn in their own way their sister Hope. Now middle-aged they muddle along in their one lives until Natalie's daughter also named Hope tries to bring the sisters back together.

I enjoyed this book. It was a bit obvious in places what was going on but it was well written on the whole although could be confusing at times especially as two of the characters were named Hope. The best past is the sinister relationship between Jess and her husband Mason though I found it hard to believe that she would have married him as he was such a horror. But the prize for most narcissistic, most neglectful, most selfish mother must go to Eva, their mother. A truly ghastly character. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This was such a great read, I could not put it down once I started it so I read it in the one sitting and boy was it worth it x
