I really enjoyed this book by Ericson! I thought it was a quick read which I didn't anticipate in the beginning. The characters were well thought out and the plot, suspense and dialogue was great.

Cade is looking for his sister and with the help of Lori whos on the LAPD they managed to find a trail. Both of them have history and are on different paths but will work together to find out where the sister is which leads them to a treatment center that seems to be more then just that.

This was a fun read. This book really kept the readers on their toes wondering about the connections. I loved how dark this book got the closer they got to who could be behind it all. I enjoyed the bit of attraction that was going on between the two clearly they are not over eachother but Lori got some things to say before they really get into it. Overall this book was an interesting on and I really enjoyed it.

This is a Romantic Suspense/Crime Mystery, and this is the first book in The Lost Girls series. This book is filled with suspense and action with some crazy twists. I did not want to put this book down, and I really got into the mystery that was going on. This was a great read with some really great characters. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, and I will have to check out more books by Carol. This is a short book, but there is so much put into it. So great. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Intrigue) or author (Carol Ericson) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Good mix of second chance romance and suspense. Lori works for the LAPD as a fingerprint specialist. One day she's startled to find her high school boyfriend there to report his younger sister missing. Cade is told it is too soon to report an adult missing, and his frustration is evident. When Lori suggests that she and Cade check Summer's house for clues, she discovers a disturbing similarity to a crime scene she recently worked.

Dissatisfied with the police response to the things they found, Lori and Cade begin investigating on their own. I was hooked when Lori decided to go undercover to investigate the questionable drug rehab center that linked the two women. The tension ramped up as Lori risked discovery by searching for the missing women, and Cade met with one of Lori's police friends about the drugs they found. The final confrontation had me glued to the pages as they uncovered the truth about the rehab center and its owner. The underground scene was a nail-biter with a close call for Lori and Cade and a just-in-the-nick-of-time rescue. The epilogue filled in some blanks for a satisfying ending.

I liked the rekindling of the relationship between Lori and Cade. They had been high school sweethearts, Cade from a wealthy family and Lori from a poor one. It didn't matter to them, but Cade's family disapproved. When Cade left for college, Lori broke things off, telling him he needed to be free to experience everything. There was another reason also that came out later in the book. When they meet again, it's clear that the sparks between them are still there. I enjoyed seeing them reconnect and realize that the old feelings are still there. Though he respected Lori's abilities, he still felt protective when danger threatened. Lori felt the same protectiveness toward Cade, which led to some of her past choices. There is some angst when she shares her secret, but understanding and forgiveness follow quickly. If they are going to move forward together, Cade has some decisions to make. Those decisions didn't surprise me, as they were hinted at earlier in the book. The epilogue was terrific.

I liked seeing some of the characters from the previous series make appearances in this one. Lori made a brief appearance in that series, and Kyra and Jake appear in this book. I'd like to see more of Jake's partner Billy and his search for his sister.

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was intriguing, fast-paced, steamy and held my interest. I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

Canyon Crime Scene was a great read! It was fun to read an Intrigue where neither of the main characters was in law enforcement. Lori lives on the edge of that life as a fingerprint specialist, so she understood the ways of the police, but wasn't bogged down by the rules of the police.

Cade Larson's sister, Summer, was missing. He'd returned to LA to meet up with her, but she missed their lunch date, which wasn't like his sister. Worried that she had started using drugs again, he went to the police station to report her missing. There he runs into his high school girlfriend, Lori. When Lori realizes that Cade's sister has gone missing in the same way another woman had, she encouraged him to break into Summer's house rather than wait out the time required by the police before he could report his sister missing. What they discover leads them down a long and twisted hallway of drugs, addiction, and greed.

I enjoyed Cade and Lori's backstory and that this was a second-chance romance as well. Lori wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty to save his sister because she'd been doing it for years trying to clear her brother's name. Cade coming back into her life helped her see that a lot of things had to change if she was going to move forward in life successfully. Cade loved Lori, but more than that, he cared about her. The difference being, he cared enough to help her over the hurdles in her life even if in the end he didn't get the girl.

If you enjoy a well-written whodunit with some surprising twists and turns in the LA countryside, you definitely want to meet Cade and Lori in Canyon Crime Scene!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review, which has not altered my opinion of this book. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the e-arc.

Honestly, this was a solid story from the beginning to the end and reminded me of an episode of NCIS or Criminal Minds to a point. I didn't expect the ending that we had but I also was not completely surprised by it. It felt as though it could have profited from a few more chapters. The ending felt a bit rushed to me though I like that the bad guys weren't complete idiots or morons. I know that these are mainly romance books, but the romance honestly felt a bit awkward and I wasn't the biggest fan of it. Though her secret was a surprise.

Overall, I would say that I enjoyed the experience of reading it but just found myself underwhelmed by the ending. 3 out of 5 from me.

This was a quick, fast paced read! It had suspense, intrigue, action and good detective work! I'm not really into short stories, I feel like I didn't get the whole story?! In this book I did feel like I got the whole story but what I didn't like was that right when you get to the good part?! The goid guys swoop in and save the day and boom! Its over! Nothing drawn out just over! So in that aspect this book was just ok for me! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! If you like short stories?! This book is probably for you!
