Hello,

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

Its breaktime for schoolteacher Jennifer Glass, while she was planning for a vacation the last thing she expected during her break was getting roped into a case as a spy taking the place of her twin sister. Micah knows pulling her into the case is risky but it he will do everything he can to keep this case going and keep her protected to take the bad guys down.

This was a an interesting read. I mean she's just a simple school teacher getting roped into this whole different world and it was interesting seeing her slip into her sisters fake persona. I enjoyed seeing how they worked together to continue where her sister had no choice but to stop. But then again she really wanted to meet her sister and could only really do that after they were done with the case. It was interesting seeing the back and forth with the criminals and their sketchy dealings with double crossing eachother. Then there was that steamy romance that was forming between the two which also kept things interesting. Overall this was a pretty good read I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a review copy.

This was good, it was nothing special, but I was expecting more romance, more suspense, or more of something. This had such an interesting concept and I was so excited but it feel short. The characters were good but there could have been more.

Jenifer felt like the 'not like other girls troupe" and the love interest was not my favorite, he basically pushed Jenifer into helping him.

I liked seeing the separation at the birth aspect of the book but there was not much interesting between the twins. I would have liked to see more of a relationship between the sisters.

Overall, I recommend this book to beginning romance readers or people looking for a quick read for vacation or the beach.

I enjoyed this book once I got past the fantasy that an experienced ATF agent would recruit a civilian for a vital undercover op just because she looks like the partner who has worked the situation with him for two years. A few other things made me roll my eyes, but I chalked them up to the fantasy and moved on.

Jennifer is an elementary school teacher who is out shopping when she's accosted by a man claiming to be a federal agent who tells her to "play along." Then a creepy guy starts talking to her like he knows her and her "partner." After the man, Igor, leaves, Micah explains that he's an undercover ATF agent and that Igor mistook her for his partner, Laney. Laney happens to be the twin sister Jennifer didn't know about because they were adopted separately. Jennifer is stunned to find out about Laney and wants to meet her, which Micah agrees to - IF Jennifer will fill in for Laney for a couple of weeks while they wrap up the operation.

I didn't much care for Micah's emotional blackmailing of Jennifer. He admits that Laney and his bosses would be furious with him for involving her, but he does it anyway. I understood they were at the point where any change could torpedo the entire investigation, but Jennifer has NO experience with undercover work. So many things could go wrong and mess it up and get them killed.

Leaving those quibbles behind, I went along for the ride. Thanks to some acting experience in college, Jennifer pulls off a credible Laney in her first outing. As the days go on, a bunch of twists and turns make the run-up to the finale extra complicated. Each change ramped up the tension that nearly leaped off the page. The two main villains, Igor and Carmen, were especially vile, and it was easy to root for their downfall. The final confrontation was intense and kept me hooked until it was done.

I enjoyed the development of Micah and Jennifer's relationship. The attraction between them is instant though they try to ignore it. They know they don't need the distraction with the stakes so high. Micah is surprised by his attraction to Jennifer because he feels nothing like it for Laney. Because they are together 24/7, they have the opportunity to get to know each other. The attraction between them grows, and so do the feelings that go with it. They struggle to keep them buried while working and long for a chance to see where they will go. I liked the ending, though I would like to have gotten more of the meeting between Jennifer and Laney.

This is a Romantic Suspense. I love the characters. I really loved to see the two main characters fall in love, and the romance was fast moving but really good. The suspense/action was throughout this book, and I loved that this book kept me on my toes wanting to keep reading. Great mix of suspense, action, and romance. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) or author (Karen Whiddon) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Twin sisters adopted separately at birth with no knowledge of each other. One sister, Jennifer, is a elementary teacher and the other sister, Laney, is a undercover ATF agent. When Laney’s undercover partner, Micah, gets in touch with Jennifer, things start to heat up. Sounds like a great plot doesn’t it?
The Spy Switch is a fun, easy read with lots of twists and turns.
I’m not going to give away much more about the story. I recommend you read the book and see where the story takes you.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Spy Switch by Karen Whiddon was a miss for me. There were too many holes in the plot, the premise of which was entirely unbelievable. I also really disliked the seemingly back and forth attitude regarding how the male protagonist treated the female lead. Everyone is double crossing everyone else, and at times it gives the reader whiplash. I felt like the book and characters needed further development. Were I to ignore the problems with the book, it's a quick read.

The Spy Switch is a romantic suspense.

Jennifer finds out she has a twin by an undercover ATF agent. He convinces her to go undercover with him to finalize a 2 year operation he and her twin have been working. Her twin is also an ATF agent who is out for medical leave while pregnant.

Sparks and chemistry immediately start flying between Jennifer and Mike. I enjoyed how Mike explained how he didnt have feelings for her twin and how they made sure to not get too personally while undercover and that the twin was married.

I was glad the book was not too violent. The author gave Jennifer a believable background to make it work for her to go undercover in this situation.

Sex - 2 behind closed doors
Violence - gun trafficking, mention of human trafficking, car crashes

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

Jennifer Glass has led an ordinary life so far, but when she is taken for her federal agent long-lost twin sister by an arms dealer, she is swept into the world of undercover investigation.

As you can tell from the blurb, there is rather a lot of suspension of disbelief needed in this work – that Jennifer can play the role of Lania, that she is even so vital to the operation that the hero Micah would bring her in on it – though the author does try to explain these far-fetched things well enough.

I enjoyed the romance between the couple, and the classically Harlequin portrayal of undercover detective work as glamorous. The bad guys are quite bad and I wanted them to be taken down. I also liked the character of Jennifer and found her to be a sympathetic heroine.

However, I did have some major issues with the hero. He basically blackmails Jennifer into working with him by dangling the contact details of Laney, her twin, over her head – promising to put them in touch only if she will work the operation with him. Not precisely romantic. All the twists and turns with Igor and Carmen’s action (such stereotypical bad guy names!) also added unnecessary complexity to the plot.

Overall, a light and entertaining read, but not my favorite Harlequin.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Wow, this one will have you on the edge of your seat. Jennifer just browsing in the store becomes entangled in a web of an undercover operation because she looks like her identical twin whom she never knew she had.
Micah has no choice but to involve her in the undercover operation however both don’t realize playing house will lead to more deep feelings for one another.
Interesting read for sure.

Jennifer Glass finds herself in the middle of trouble. When Mich Spokane rescues her, she also discovers that she has a twin. With the thoughts of being able to meet her sister, Jennifer does whatever it takes to meet her, even going undercover with the handsome AFT agent. While I felt it was a stretch at times, Jennifer having some acting experience in college and no one suspected it wasn’t her sister, Harlequin romances are written for escapism and The Spy Switch did exactly that. I could tune out the world and live in the lives of Jennifer and Micah.
