This book sadly did not live up to my expectations. I don't think it's the fault of the writing and more the fact that I tend to enjoy creepy thrillers as opposed to those that have a lot of drama. There are friends that I know would love this book for exactly that reason.

Women and their “friendships” have been at the center of a lot of books I’ve read lately. All the women are catty and very unlikable, but the book catches you by not letting you know who has died until you are close to the end. This moves along at a brisk pace and while I guessed who died about midway through, there were still a few surprises along the way.

The gothic New Orleans setting set the perfect tone and if you are planning a bachelorette party anytime soon, I’d look closely at who you are inviting.

Fast-paced and entertaining. A recommended purchase for collections where crime and thrillers are popular.

I loved the premise of this book but the dialogue read too stilted in the beginning for me. There was also a lot of fat and body talk that kept preventing me from getting into the story and enjoying it.

This was a fun whodunit set in New Orleans. The bachelorette party attendees all have secrets and we get to hear from each character in changing pov. Great beach or pool read.

Rosalee and Asher’s wedding is approaching and it’s time for the bachelorette party. It’s being held in a grand mansion in New Orleans and best friend Mara has pulled out all the stops for the weekend. We have Rosalee the bride-to-be, Mara the best friend, Elizabeth the mother-in-law, Bri the sister-in-law, Tinsley the cousin and Georgia the groom's friend. This weekend is a hotbed of tension, animosity and hidden agendas and everyone’s keeping secrets and when everything inevitably implodes the weekend ends with someone dead.

This psychological thriller was narrated in such a unique way and I definitely liked the style of this as each pivotal character got the chance of a voice as we take turns in each of their psyches. it was well-written and an easy read and though there were no great shocks delivered I did mostly enjoy this. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of The Bachelorette Party.

Do you ever just want to pick up a swiftly-paced suspense novel with intriguing characters and an exciting setting? Carissa Ann Lynch's The Bachelorette Party is your next read! I wholly did not expect to enjoy this novel as much as I did ... "enjoy" being the operative word because I surprisingly loved this book to pieces!

The Bachelorette Party is written in short spiffy chapters, each narrated by a member of the bachelorette party - the bride-to-be, plus her best friend, cousin, fiance's best friend, future mother-in-law, and future sister-in-law. If you are thinking to yourself, "That's quite the assortment," you're on the right track because this unlikely group is headed down to New Orleans and they're taking all of their baggage with them!

The mood is tense as this group of ladies settles into their historic rental in the Big Easy's Garden District. Each woman is harboring her own secrets and suspicions about others in the bachelorette party, and fake cheerfulness abounds as members of the group sneakily stab each other in the back. Despite the hidden hostility, the festivities are jovial and the food and drink are free flowing as these ladies take to the streets of New Orleans to celebrate. By the end of the weekend, one of them will be dead ... but who is the killer among them?

The Bachelorette Party is the perfect mix of humor and suspense, making this read a whole lotta fun! Lynch expertly blends amusing antics with snarky side comments, all the while building to the death of one of these unlucky ladies by the book's end. Which speaking of this novel's ending, I loved how Lynch saved the murder and investigation for the very end of this book, devoting most of its pages to merrymaking and mischief. I surely would never want to attend a bachelorette party where everyone is ready to kill each other, but reading about one sure is entertaining!

A fast-paced, exciting novel that doesn't get bogged down in details or backstory, The Bachelorette Party is the perfect read for summer!

A fast paced fun bachelorette party whodunnit. A quick enjoyable read. Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

A really good read, full of twists and turns. I like that we don't actually know the identity of the victim until later in the book so we're guessing the outcome as the plot unfolds. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

A quick read with nice and short chapters.

When. Six “friends” get together for a bachelorette party, it’s hard to keep your secrets hidden. And at the end of he weekend one woman will be dead. It kept me interested enough to care about finding out who is murdered, less interested about why. Everyone had a reason to hate everyone else at the event because the bride allowed the worst group of people to come to her party ever.

The ending gets a little messy with everyone’s secrets being intertwined unnecessarily.

I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads. Like I said at the beginning of this post, I was generally impressed with this. I was in desperate need of a decent read and this book did the job.
Of course, the synopsis had me hooked before I even read a page. Though the idea was nothing ground-breaking, the promise of an ensemble cast had me sold. I would liken this to the more somber, serious, and more murder-y cousin of the traditional pre-wedding-event-centered movie like The Hangover or Bridesmaids. Similar premise and an interesting, well assembled ensemble cast.
I do want to add that I LOVED the New Orleans setting. New Orleans is one of my favorite places that I have ever visited. I love the food, the music, the architecture, and the history of the city! Setting the book there was a simple and quick way to get to my heart. New Orleans certainly isn't the last place that an author would set a book but I also haven't read many (if any at all) books that took place there.
This was a quick read that captivated me from beginning to end. It was hard to put this book down--which is such a compliment and testament to the author! I
Overall, I would highly recommend this one. Due to the use of adult dialogue, situations, and language throughout, I would suggest this book for readers 18+. If you are wanting a quick read, like ensemble casts, and love a good whodunnit mystery---try this one!

Six women come together in New Orleans for a bachelorette party, but one won't return home...

The perfect party location with endless drinks and live music. Not everyone gets along and soon rifts are created.

This is a story of two parts. Part one is told from multiple points of view from the six women attending the party. Rosalee, the quirky and loveable bride-to-be; Elizabeth, the soon-to-be mother-in-law to Rosalee, with high expectations and formidable persona; Bri, the alcohol and prescription tablet-dependent soon-to-be sister-in-law; Georgia, the gorgeous best friend of the groom and the woman Elizabeth had hoped her son would marry; Tinsley, Rosalee's cousin, although they are more best friends than family; and finally Mara, friend of the bride who is not very likeable at all.

Each of these women has secrets of their own. History that they don't want shared. And all eventually with a reason to hate the ill-fated victim.

I really enjoyed the opening where we were immediately taken to the scene of the crime by the lead detective, before following the party guests on their trip and the days prior to the party and fateful day. We learn how these women are interwoven, their pasts, their secrets and as the story unfolds you'll begin to try and guess who the victim is.

The pettiness and drama between these women was immediate, majority were awful and unlikeable and you could easily see why they could turn on each other. I couldn't wait to see what the next catty remark would be.

I really enjoyed the mystery of finding out who met their fate, before delving in to part two and seeing each suspect either clam up or spill the beans in their police interviews. The two parts really fitted well together and I think made the story even more enjoyable.

Definitely one for those who like a locked-room mystery.

Reading Between the Wines book review #18/115 for 2023:
Rating: 3🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 🎧: The Bachelorette Party
Author: Carissa Ann Lynch
Genre: General Fiction (Adult)
AVAILABLE NOW!!

Sipping thoughts: Very quick read. It's one of my favorite types of reads with a one setting whodunit with a few suspects. I didn't like who it turned out to be, how it happened or why it happened. I did like the last reveal that added a new element.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @HarperCollinsUk and @OneMoreChapter for an advanced copy of @TheBacheloretteParty.

Here is a major talent for writing thrillers. I was hooked from page one.
Many thanks to HarperCollins UK and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved the setting of this one, in one of my favourite parts of the world. New Orleans. I connected to the characters but I still felt there was something lacking.

I love books like this who have a sort of ensemble cast and you hear the story from all different angles, coloured by their secrets and biases.

Enjoyable read!
