This was a hard book for me to continue reading, and I ultimately put it aside without finishing it. It is mostly memoir and self help, but it felt a lot like getting advice from someone younger than you who thinks she has all the answers. The story dragged and I was just not that interested. I won't be publicly reviewing the book since I did not finish it and cannot recommend it.
The Little Guide to Finding Our Lost Souls is a biographical self help book that will appeal to a niche audience. The problem with books like these is that you need to resonate with the author (likes, dislikes, opinions, gripes etc.), and not everyone will. It is annoying in parts when she is judgemental or discriminates about things. I didn't like the handwritten parts at then end of the chapters, much too difficult to read on kindle and e-readers. Not a book for me, but will appeal to some people.
This book is an invitation to reconnecting with your soul. Julie offers a teaching with tools of integration on how to be awake and human in our society, Unlike sleep walking this awake state allows for the shaping of a life with boundaries and the ownership that guides us towards the love as our primary intelligence.
Lots of ideas to apply to the spiritual practice of Mussar in here. I expect I will be using some the lessons here in my teaching.
