Everyday I clean the Winchesters' beautiful house from top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my dirty room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken everyday. But as I look into Andrew's handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it's hard to imagine what it would be like to live Nina's life, But I reassure myself: the Winchester's don't know who I really am. They don't know what I'm capable of....

This story is told from Nina and Millie's perspectives. Millie is the Winchesters housekeeper and it's not long before she discovers all is not as it seems. With nice short chapters and a steady pace, this psychological thriller had me gripped. When Millie is offered a job as a housekeeper for the Winchesters, she couldn't believe her luck. Filled with twists, I couldn't turn the pages quick enough. This is a thoroughly enjoyable book that held my attention throughout.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #FriedaMcFadden for my ARC of #TheHousemaid in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a modern psychological thriller this is a good one. When the very attractive heroine of this novel, Millie, an ex-con goes to work as the cleaning, cooking, childcare live-in maid for a couple of wealthy folks in New York she has no idea the twists and turns the future will hold. The woman she works for has a reputation for being crazy and spending time in a mental institution and she does some bizarre things. She is overweight, obsessed with some things, and very jealous. The husband of the family is very attractive, seemingly hardworking, honest, and in need of some love and comfort. The couple also has a weird brat of a child to contend with. The gardener has warned Millie on her first day there of "danger". The story takes a new turn when Millie steps into a friendship with the husband.
All the characters in this book are interesting. The plot is creative and engaging and the setting in the house adds to the story. I loved this book and highly recommend it as an entertaining read. I couldn't put it down. The Housemaid is a winner. Thanks to #NetGalley#TheHousemaid for the opportunity to read and review this 5-star book!

Enjoyed this, certainly kept me turning the pages! The reader can't help wondering why the housemaid in question would not have just left this job, but nevertheless a gripping read, with a twist at the end.
Thanks to the publisher for a review copy.

The Housemaid is a book that is hard to put down. The writing and plot both gripped me from the very first page.

The novel is about Millie, a young woman who is in desperate need for a job after getting fired from her last one. With a criminal record, Millie finds it hard to find decent work and she’s currently living in her car. So when she offered a position as Nina Winchester’s housemaid, which includes lodging and an adequate salary, Millie grabs the opportunity. She is determined to succeed in the role even when red flags start popping up from her first day on the job. These include the claustrophobic-inducing room that Nina has her sleeping in; the mercurial mood of her employer; and the whispered warning from the mysterious handsome gardener.

This was a fast-paced and scintillating read. I liked the author’s style of writing and the narrators were pretty likeable. Some of Millie’s thoughts and reactions to Nina made me laugh. There were cheesy moments and tropes, and the twist didn’t surprise me but I still appreciated the ride. I will definitely read another of the author’s novel in the future.

This thriller is one that really knocked my socks off. The plot was amazing it started off right in the middle of the story and had you hooked right on through. It starts with our main character getting a job as a new live in Nanny to a well off family. Things couldn't be going better for her she has a roof over her head, a steady job, and a direction, but when Millie starts to look closer at her new arrangement she really starts to see the cracks as things aren't always as they seem. And in the picture perfect marriage there might be a little darkness, but who is the one causing it? This is one story that will grab you from the beginning and take you on a roller coaster
of a ride. I loved the characters in this story especially our main character Millie. I can't imagine all of the stress that she had to go through in this situation. This is one of the best thriller suspense books that I've read in a long time. I loved this story and I found that I couldn't put it down because I just had to see what was going to happen next. With so many twist and turns in this book right when you think you know what is going to happen the author throws you a curve ball and you are left wondering again. I'm so glad that I got the chance to check out this book, and its always nice to discover a new author. I can't wait to get my hands on her other works if they are even half as good as this one I know I will be happy. Great read and I'm very glad I got the chance to check it out. This book the the type of book that makes readers for life and one that the thriller genre was made for. I cannot say enough great things about this book only that I can't wait for it to come to stores so
I can read it again and again until the pages fall out and I have to buy a new copy.

This was everything I could ever want in a thriller!! Granted its not the most realistic hut it is just utterly captivating and spell binding. You honestly won't be able to put it down. The characters are so well written that you can literally see these people going about their lives. It's like watching watching a Netflix series! Absolute, all encompassing, escapist, bliss!!

Hi! The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a must-read thriller. From the very first line, it kept me hooked and I’ll explain why here in my review.

Now, there are some books you love because they’re rooted in reality and there are some you love because they’re well, fictional. This was the latter. Not because it had dragons or flying fairies but because it had the best ending I could ask for. You’ll have to read the book to find out what I mean (no spoilers) but I can promise you will love it.

Why you should read this book

*The characters!!! They are all so very complex, it’s impossible not to get drawn into their lives and interactions. You’ll see hidden meanings and motives everywhere, it’s a definitely enthralling thriller.

*The plot definitely made me love this book. I don’t know what I expected from the story but I definitely didn’t expect to finish the book in just two sittings or end it with a huge smile on my face.

*I appreciated the author’s writing a lot. The book was comprised of relatively short chapters and there was dark humor sprinkled into the chapters that somehow kept the story light and managed to make me love the book even more.

*This book left me wanting more. Now, recently, I’ve read a lot of books that made me tear up, laugh and feel connected to the characters. All great reads but this is one of the very few that left me wanting more. I wanted to know more of Millie’s story, I needed more.

So, all-in-all, read this book if you like thrillers. That’s all I will say, all I CAN say because I’m going to start sprouting spoilers otherwise. An easy 4.5 star read.

This book is a MUST READ! I couldn't put it down. Often i found myself thinking i had the twists figured out (which I never actually did) and then there would be a complete curveball. I loved this book and I think anyone that enjoys thrillers will also find it riveting. Another great book by Freida McFadden!

Wow! This was one of my fastest reads since quite some time! I finished it in a day, setting my own new record (*cheers and claps*)

Okay, now that I have patted myself on the back, I must say that this feat has been achieved only because the book was a total page turner. I couldn't wait to see what happened with Millie and Andrew and Nina.

Millie has spent a decade in prison and is now looking for a new job. Of course, it is not easy with her background. And she is literally living in her car so a good job is the only way to get her out of this situation.

When the ultra-wealthy Nina Winchester calls her, offering her a place as the Winchester's housemaid, Millie is thrilled. At last, she can straighten her legs while sleeping.

But from the get go, she senses something is terribly wrong. What is happening?

The only saving grace of the Winchester household is Andrew Winchester. Unfortunately for Millie, she finds herself falling in love with him.

How will the three of them get out of their tangled loved? Will they ever be happy?

If the first half of the book is about the people, the second half is absolutely crazy (in a good way). I guessed the plotline quite a while before I got to that point (blame reading excessive thrillers), but even though I knew, the suspense didn't let up till the end.

And while I'm talking about the end, WHAT AN AMAZING ENDING THAT WAS! I did NOT expect it. At. All. Yay for woman power!

5 stars!

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Freida McFadden for the ARC.

What a fun and creepy suspense novel! I loved the main character, who had plenty of her own secrets... but then she goes to work as a live-in maid with a dysfunctional family that has plenty of their own! I did not see the end coming. Definitely grab this one!

Absolutely loved this book! Gripping from the beginning and kept me guessing, I’m honestly surprised I didn’t guess the twist. I loved the two POVs and believe it was wrapped up nicely, I had no lingering questions upon finishing.

I just discovered @fizzziatrist this year, and I’ve been binging her books ever since. I love how dark and twisted they are. This story had some similarities to The Wife Upstairs, but I enjoyed every second of it. I read the entire book in one sitting, and while I’ll likely have some trouble getting up when my alarm goes off tomorrow, I have no regrets 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you to @netgalley and @bookouture for the arc in exchange for my opinion..
