Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey under the Sea is an action packed choose your own adventure graphic novel that took me way back to my childhood. I loved these books as a child and wish I'd never given them away as I got older as I'd love to give them to my own children to devour now too.
This is a great reboot into this series and I can't wait to see what the next books in the series will be. The glory of these books is that you can experience different outcomes and adventure scenarios every time you read them and they never get boring!

How cool was this book! I loved CYOA books as a kid. I have some old ones on my personal bookshelf. This graphic novel format adds another layer for kids in the modern age. I am purchasing every single one for my school library. The graphics are easy to follow. The story line is just as enjoyable in graphic format, and I still found myself keeping my fingers in pages to go back and make different choices. A great trip down memory lane for adults and an accessible way to introduce this beloved series to new readers.

Putting 'Choose Your Own Adventure' in graphic novel format works excellently. I loved the artwork and it had a lot of fun storylines to follow and see how they played out.

The newest Choose Your Own Adventure comic is an underwater epic where you travel by submarine. I want to start by saying I grew up on Choose Your Own Adventures. I still have some very well loved copies of the first printing. I remember working for my grandmother in her ceramic shop to save enough to go next door to the used book store and get my next book. So these books are special to me, even today I read them to my middle school students. Journey Under the Sea is one of our favorites.

So that being said, I was worried that the adaptation would not live up to the original. I have never been so excited to be wrong. The art is perfect. I love the backgrounds and how the animals and people were shown. All of my favorite endings were included. I did not notice anything missing from the original. Reading a Choose Your Own Adventure is always more fun in the physical copy so I cannot wait to get my hands on this. I have already called my local comic shop to preorder. I highly recommend you do as well. You do not want to miss out on this.

What a fun throw back to my childhood! I loved the graphic novel take and enjoyed the different ways the story branched off though it was difficult flipping back and forth with an ebook - I would likely enjoy this much more in physical form where you can experience the joy of flipping to the right page.

When I requested this comic/choose your own adventure I was really happy and excited.
Unfortunately this wasn't for me. There are a couple of reasons why I didn't like it.

Firstly I didn't have its physical copy and I didn't enjoy it on my cell phone, it was alot of work scrolling to find the pages. In my honest opinion I might have enjoyed it if I had its physical copy.

Secondly I wasn't excited about the storyline, and my becoming fish food in about 2 minutes of starting didn't help.

Lastly I'd have loved the adventure to be a bit more exciting but it was rather bland and I felt I wasnt really interested in it.

I guess it'll be fun to solve with a kid since they are a better target audience and they can learn a thing or two about the sea creatures.
Plus the illustrations were beautiful.

All in all I wouldn't recommend it to the adults.

Oh the nostalgia! I LOVED 'choose your own adventure' books when I was younger so I was very excited to get my hands on this graphic novel reboot and it didn't disappoint. This has all the charm of the original format (where you could experience a new version of the story every time you read based on the choices you make along the way) but the added illustrative element is sure to appeal to a broad range of middle grade readers. I look forward to introducing this to my classroom library and look forward to going on more 'choose your own adventures' soon! Thanks to NetGalley.co.uk and Oni Press for the free eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As a family, we own several of the original 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books so I was excited to read a graphic novel version with my son. Due to the smaller amounts of text, my son was able to read the storylines himself. Depending on your choices, the story can be quite short but that's half the fun. Of the several endings that we came to, the bad endings were actually our favourites.

My only criticism is that the format doesn't really work as an ebook. It really needed a way to jump to individual pages without having to scroll back and forth through every page.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for giving me a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I requested to read Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey Under the Sea as I was a huge fan of the original book series as a child. This comic book reimaging was just as fun as I remembered but with the added bonus of beautiful artwork to complete the story. I am sure it will appeal to a whole new generation of readers, especially this exciting under the sea adventure. My only complaint is the stories felt very short, other than this it was a highly enjoyable read.

This is an incredible book where you get to choose your own journey under the sea. I’ve never read a book like this before and I think it’s going to be very popular with kids young and old. In your quest to find Atlantis you can read through the book and when you get to certain points of the story you have the choice to skip ahead, go back, or continue on to see where your journey takes you. I naturally chose the path that meant I had a very cute dolphin friend by my side.

I can’t wait to read more books like this, it’s an absolutely incredible and fun read.

Oh the memories from elementary school! I read all the Choose Your Own Adventure books when they first came out, and loved them. I was super excited to see the illustrated copy available on NetGalley and signed up to read it right away.

The story was everything that I remember, and the new illustrated format is beautiful. The only difficulty I had with this ARC was that it was not easy to turn to (whatever page you were instructed to turn to) in the digital proof format. I am SURE that this will be remedied by the release.

Thanks for letting me relive my childhood.

I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books as a kid. I could not get enough. I really enjoyed the graphics and the story. I'm wishing I could have actually chosen a page instead of scrolling and the plots being spoiled. Definitely better in paper format or actual pages in the table of content.

For my first choose your own adventure comic I really enjoyed this.

I love the ability to reread the comic to see a variety of very different endings. The artwork is really nice, I would have loved to see more detail in the sea creatures.

The reason I knocked off 1 star was purely because some of the plot endings where not my cup of tea and I would suggest if you read this comic, get the physical copy rather than e-book as I found it quite difficult to enjoy the plot line while I was scrolling to figure out the pages and obviously with technology it can lag.

Overall a very quick, easy read and would recommend if you would like to try a choose your own adventure comic.

I received an ARC of, Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey Under the Sea, by Andrew E.C. Gaska: E.L. Thomas. I really enjoyed these books when I was younger. I liked the old one better where you can use your own imagination, instead of the pictures in the book.

This is a great comic with vibrant pictures, it's nice to decide how the story goes yourself, some of the stories end very quickly and other options give you a bit more to read and see.

Choose your own adventure books were my absolute favorite as a child. I couldn’t wait to delve into the many different adventures and different paths that the book offered. I loved the idea of choosing what I could do in the book, and seeing where my choices took me.

Journey under the sea has been adapted into a choose your own adventure comic/ graphic novel and I think it’s perfect for the new generation of kids.

This book takes you on a wild underwater adventure. Giant squids, sharks and a race of mer people are just some of the exciting things you will encounter on your different paths.

The illustrations are really great, colorful & detailed. They are a treat to behold.

I think kids will really like the new format and it will be quite engaging for them & older people will enjoy the nostalgia of their childhood, with a modern twist.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader’s copy for an honest review.

Great graphics and lots of fun versions of the story. My record was to die in under 4 choices! I enjoyed these as a kid and this one is great with bright images and lots of variety. I went through a handful of paths, but there were still lots of untraveled options, which will be fun to explore.

This is a great book for young readers wanting to explore the "choose your own adventure" genre. As a grade 3 teacher I spent quite a bit of time this year looking for choose your own adventure novels and was surprised how hard it was to find some good ones. I am excited to add this one to my collection when it is published in August! My students are very interested in this genre and I think this book would be a great addition to my classroom library. The fact that it is also a graphic novel will make it even more intriguing for my students! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book!

This did a great job of bringing back memories from childhood of all the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books that I read, but modernising them in graphic novel format. I'll admit that reading it as a PDF and not easily being able to turn the pages makes the reviewing not quite as fun as what a physical copy would be, but that's not going to take away from the fact that I can see my kids happily spending their evening going over this and trying to get to the end. Great fun, and the cartoon style fits it very well.
