I must preface all of this with the fact that as a child of the 1980s, I have fond memories of Choose Your Own Adventure books. This new graphic novel version helped some of those memories resurface (pun intended). As I read, I thought to myself, "Make good choices. Don't die in the Choose Your Own Adventure!"

The visuals were clear. I appreciated how they used different sorts of talk bubbles to indicate the narration, the character dialogue, and the choices. I was able to follow the page layouts easily--so will kids.

I will likely buy a print copy for my high school library and see how it does with my students. I think this would be perfect for middle school libraries and maybe elementary.

thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. as a child, i adored "chose your own adventure" books for the same reason i loved (and still love) video games: you were ultimately in control. i also adore comics and graphic novels, so seeing the two combined would have been a dream to child dorothy. i was That mythology child, so throw in a journey for the tale of Atlantis? i'm sold!

reading this book felt like a major nostalgia trip. flipping through pages to get to the next step of a journey? check. the frustration of the book ending prematurely due to your stupid choice? check. amazing artwork? check. lots different endings? check.

if i could go back in time, i would give a copy of this book to 7 year old me, as I would have loved this! if you have a comic book kid in your life, i'd definitely consider getting them a copy of this. and who knows! it might introduce them to the book in which this was adapted from (R.A. Montgomery's book of the same name)

Definitely a book to share in the classroom library. This was an attractive read, and had all the nostalgia feels of when I read books like this (in prose form) as a child.

Thanks NetGallery for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

There is no fault with the writing and with the illustrations. When I saw the 'choose your own adventure', with the title, I knew I would hate the book. Then again, this book was constructed for a child.

The book started out well enough, but the initial decision had me jumping from page 13 to 84. A long jump for an e-book. Trying to follow some of the branching's led me back and fourth. After a while I gave up and just paged through the book.

I imagine that the writing and illustrations were a challenge to put together.

What a throwback! Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey Under the Sea by Andrew E.C. Gaska; E.L. Thomas is a new take on a classic book series. I remember reading the original books back when I was a kid, and I was so excited to be able to read this graphic novel adaptation! The story revolves around a diver on a ship in the middle of the ocean. Depending on which path you choose, you can encounter all sorts of adventures, involving sharks, creatures, monsters, etc.

Overall, Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey Under the Sea is a super fun graphic novel that would make the perfect gift for the kid in your life. One highlight of this book is the "you choose" format, which I enjoyed just as much as I did when I was a kid. It was so much fun to be able to make choices that impacted the way that the story went. I think the first time I tried reading this story, I ended up reaching an "end" after 10 or so pages. The fun part is being able to start over and reach a different ending. If you're intrigued by the description, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in August!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Oni Press for this advanced copy. This was a gorgeous graphic novel and I thoroughly enjoyed both the artwork and the storylines. There were countless of storylines, all of which were so unique and intriguing. Loved the theme of sea exploration and would definitely pick up a hard copy of this.

Ah! Who else remembers the Choose Your Own Adventures in their youth? Those were my absolute favorite. This is definitely nostalgic for those of us. So many different paths you can go down and so many different endings! I love this book. My kids were also interested and laughing at each path they chose. And the graphics are superb and beautiful! I would totally recommend to everyone!

I haven't read a Choose Your Own Adventure book in decades and this was such a wonderful treat! This story was extremely clever and there were SO many paths and different endings that it kept me entertained for a while chasing them all down. I brought out scratch paper to mark my paths out so I could make sure I followed each one.

Some endings are things you'd expect from a deep-sea adventure while others are so unexpected and it keeps it really fun not knowing what your choices are leading to. The variety is great.

The art is very nice and I love that its in full color.

This book brought back a lot of great memories for me as the Choose Your Own Adventure series was a big part of my childhood. I love it that this one is a graphic novel, yet at the same time, I felt a bit put off by the fact that I could see my character. I always thought the point of these books was to be able to believe that I was really participating in them.

This tiny quibble aside, I made my way through four or five different endings, and I was happy to see that the story was similar to the ones from the ‘80s. As long as the digital version allows people to click on a link to go to their selected page, then I see today’s kids loving the book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC. This review contains my honest, unbiased opinion.
