I received and ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot express how incredibly much I love the art in this book. It took me back to my days playing in tier gartens in Germany as a kid. The colors, the mushrooms, the snail. My favorite.

The story, or message, is about self-love. About knowing ourselves, loving ourselves, and interacting with other people's selves. This is a message that I am incredibly passionate about for children (and women, who never seem to learn it in their young years.) The way the story is written is very appropriate for even the smallest children. Get it. Read it to your kids. You won't be sorry.

Excited to add this to our shelves! The world needs more of these books. Love the way this book expresses the complex concepts of friendship, expressing feelings, and kindness to children is an easy way for them to understand.
Thank you, NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a treat to read! This is the type of book that sticks with you from when you had it read to you as a child all the way into adulthood, the type of book that you would keep with you long past you having grown out of it. The artwork is intricate and eye-catching, it's engaging for small children to admire but very impressive to adults as well. The story as well is heartwarming and important, with writing that is easy to understand the meaning of for small children and also very effective. This is definitely a book that I would love to have for my nieces and nephews and all the other young ones in my family and I will definitely look out for this as well as the author's other works in stores when shopping for them. Even though I’m an adult and well past the target audience for this story, I still adored it and would highly recommend this.

This book does a wonderful job expressing the joys of learning about one's self to a younger audience. I loved the illustrations and the beautiful soft details given throughout the short story. I am gladly adding this title to our stacks!

My Self, Your Self makes you understand how special and unique you are and how others can be their own special and unique as well. That the beings you want around you are there for you as you care for them in a safe positive manner. How everyone is unique and that is what makes everyone special. It's not that long of a story, but its message is very big. Esme Shapiro is also the illustrator for this book and it's just magical, truly enjoyed reading and sharing it with my child.

This just may be one of my new favourite children's books to read to my daughters. Beautiful illustrations and a beautiful message. I predict this will be a really popular book once it's published!

An adorable book on the concept of Self, and building some self-esteem.

I think this will be great for those who are introducing autonomy, self, self-soothing and other similar themes to their Little Ones.

Thanks to the author and publisher for a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

I love this illustration book! Even as an adult, I can find comfort in this book. It pinches my heart, it makes me ponder a lot about my existence too. The wordings and phrases are gorgeous, the illustration is very much attention grabbing! I am so in love with it!

I would definitely get this one, once it is available in my local bookstore.

Thank you author!

This children’s books follows some forest creatures discussing their sense of self. It was an absolutely adorable book and story, and I loved the art so much - it’s the kind of art that I would love to own art prints of. I plan on looking up this illustrator’s other work because it was absolutely gorgeous. Flowers were beautiful drawn and the forest creatures were so cute, The story and message were also lovely and heartwarming, and I really enjoyed reading it.

A children's book dealing with an interesting subject: "myself" and "yourself". ^^
It's a rather complex concept to understand and illustrate but here it is well done. The idea is not to encourage selfishness, but to make a difference between oneself and others and manage to listen to oneself at times, without following what others are doing/saying.

I fell in love with the design, which I find original and fresh. So beautiful !

In short, to discover! ^^

This is a very lovely picture book. I love that all illustrations inside are so detailed. The story itself tells us that we are unique, that each of us is different and we have to know ourselves to love ourselves. This book is perfect for little children since it's so simple yet beautiful.

This was a very sweet book with great pictures. I think the concept of self is very important to learn, and while this hinted at it (the way you make your toast or what you do when you're sad, etc), it would be hard to grasp from this book. It would be a great book to read and open a discussion about self with children of any age.

This is such a cute book, with such a lovely message. the art is rich and vibrant, I wish this had been my own bedtime story when i was a little kid. This teaches about love, the purest kind, for ourselves and the people who are dear to us. Very, very sweet. I should say, though, that the pdf format as it is is not ideal.

Baby’s first identity crisis! Such a cute way to teach kids about the self and also possibly make them analyze their own existence too much.

Gorgeous, lush illustrations. Something about it is reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland if it did a Frog and Toad crossover.

I love the inclusion of self love and self care. That’s so important to instil in today’s youth.

Authored and illustrated by the magnificently talented Esme Shapiro, it’s so perfectly cohesive. It’s the most cohesive children’s book I’ve seen so far.

I’m a whole adult but this book made me feel renewed. An absolute must read.

Thank you so much NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange of my opinion.

Being kind to ourselves is one of the most difficult type of kindness that there is.

In 'My Self, Your Self' we get some very useful advices and tips to appreciate ourselves, to understand us better, to take care of us when we need it and to be kind to everyone else.

I have read a few books about feelings, kindness and self-love for kids lately, but this one is very sweet and the illustrations are one of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen!

This picture book questions the idea of self and what makes each of us unique and special. Reminding readers that they are special in everything they are and do from the way they button their coat to the way they eat toast, this book affirms the importance of individuality and loving oneself. I would recommend this book for preschool teachers and families of children in the 3-6 age range. I imagine it as a wonderful bedtime story or classroom read aloud about being special and unique. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this lovely book.
