The Meet Cute Method was definitely cute.. I really adored both Frankie and Max. I laughed so much when it came to these two. I also really enjoyed watching them turn the friendship into something more. With so many little reveals happening on this trip, it's no wonder that I couldn't put the book down. Definitely enjoyed just how crazy this actually got.

The Meet Cute Method is exactly like the title! I love a good romance book! Portia knocked it out of the park with this one! I will definitely read more of her books!

I'm a big fan of Portia's books, but The Meet Cute Method quickly stole my heart and became an instant favorite. I've never laughed and cackled as much for a book than I did while reading this one. The hijinks that Frankie gets into while trying to set up meet cutes for herself for an article she's writing absolutely slayed me to the point that my husband called to make sure I was already from downstairs.

Portia also worked in so many tropes and romance plot lines into this book that it was honestly impressive, there's fake dating, only one bed, workplace romance, and more. One issue I had with this book was that by the end I wasn't a huge fan of either character honestly. They were very flawed (which is fine) but not in a way that I related to or found to be interesting. The whole concept was awesome and it was laugh out loud funny but the characters fell flat for me. Even the background characters weren't great.

It’s a book that does kind of keep you guessing as you aren’t quite sure just who Frankie will end up with which adds a nice element to the story and keeps you reading because you need to find out who she ends up with and see her get her own happy ever after.

If you love rom-coms and books that make you laugh and smile, then you need to add The Meet Cute Method to your summer reading list.

this book was an alright read for me, but e wasn’t really anything spectacular. i enjoyed the story overall, but i really didn’t feel so invested in the story that i couldn’t put the book down. this is a contemporary romance story, but the one sexy scene is a fade to black so there is really no spice. this was a good escapist read simply because of the hawaii setting and the vacation vibes, but overall wasn’t my favorite. i liked max as a character, but i really didn’t love frankie’s character. she was the stereotypical “quirky MC” that i feel is a bit overrated at this book. their love story also felt too insta-love for me, but i did like the workplace romance trope, the one bed trope, and fake dating.

When a trip to Hawaii presents itself, it is the perfect place for her meet cute but being Frankie, it doesn’t turn out as expected. Will Frankie find love and keep her job?

I enjoyed this book. It was funny and fast paced. The quintessential beach read. I liked Frankie but really really liked Addison. I hope Addison gets her own story!

I love how I can pick up a book by Portia and know I’m going to love it! This book has her same trademark sass and humour and I adored this book so much I bought the audio and paperback versions!!

While at times this book did drag in (especially the first several chapters), The Meet Cute Method is another winner from Portia MacIntosh. I cringed a bit at some of the exploits but you always root for Frankie. Fantastic chemistry between her and Max, too.

Wow! This was my second book by Portia MacIntosh and just like the first one I read at the start of the year, I loved this one so much too, just excellent.

Frankie is unlucky in love which is extremely ironic considering her job at Stylife Magazine is acting head of Love & Dating. However, when her editor is abruptly replaced by the ball busting, no nonsense (and frankly scary) Addison, Frankie finds herself fighting to save her job. She desperately needs to come up with an idea for an article that’s so good it will stop Addison giving her the sack and she suddenly remembers a sweet moment she saw whilst buying her morning coffee on the way to work, a meet cute (an albeit planned meet cute but a meet cute all the same). Frankie decides to plan some meet cutes and see if she can get a guy to fall in love with her like she sees in the meet cutes in the movies and write about them however of course they don’t go to plan with some hilarious outcomes. Then when a chance meeting in a broken elevator ends up with Frankie being offered an all expenses paid holiday in Hawaii, she decides she needs a break and jumps at the chance. However what Frankie doesn’t realise is that she may very well be living the very meet cute that she had hoped to write about.

This book was so lovely, and Portia MacIntosh is rapidly becoming one of my favourite romcom authors. I just always feel so good when reading one of her books. I loved the beautiful descriptions of Hawaii (a place I’ve always wanted to visit), and at times really felt I was there with the characters, and I also loved the contemporary references to “You” (creepy Joe) and “Love Island”, which made me smile.

All in all, a brilliant romcom and very deserved 5 stars! I would highly recommend this for any fans of romcom books or even to be honest, a reader just wanting to escape from the real world. Brilliant! I can’t wait to see what Portia MacIntosh comes out with next.

Frankie is a dating and relationship reporter for a women's magazine and thrilled that she is receiving a promotion and raise. She is shocked to find out her boss is gone and her new boss wants something new and fresh. On the fly, Frankie suggests a new series of articles: meeting someone the old fashioned way, no dating apps, just meet cutes. This presents a problem, because Frankie is an utter failure at dating in real life. As Frankie, her BFF and her boss come up with various meet-cutes around town, things turn out very different from the movies. During this time she keeps running into Max, and they seem to hit it off, so when he invites her to use the spare ticket to Hawaii, his friend is unable to use due to illness, her boss tells her to go and find some meet-cutes on vacation. Will Frankie finally meet someone and have a relationship or will she be sacked?

This was my first book by Portia MacIntosh, but it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this story. There was a lot of humor, especially while trying to set up a situation to meet men. The banter between Frankie and Max was great and the various situations after arriving in Hawaii also had me laughing at times. Max had not told Frankie that this trip was actually a reunion of his dysfunctional family. I really liked the character of Max. He was sweet, just trying to be happy in his chosen life. He had a good sense of humor and was kind. I wanted him to find his happily ever after. Frankie was also a great character, but also had some issues. She was worried about losing her job and was willing to do what she had to do to keep it. She was a unique individual, with her own style and one of the more hilarious moments was when she opened her suitcase to find out what her boss packed for her. The secondary characters all played great roles in this story, setting the stage for romance, humor and angst. There are also some serious issues explored in the book involving self-esteem, social climbing, and family dysfunction. I really enjoyed this story and it was exactly what I was looking for when I picked this book up.

Chapter eight had me covering my eyes in horror! But it was just so good but I would have died!

This book is freaking hilarious and I feel like Frankie is my soul sister! Everything that can go wrong with her Meet Cute does go wrong.

I do love that she is down to earth and really doesn’t care what people think about her. She is her own person!

This is the perfect summer read!

I am a big fan of Portia MacIntosh and her latest book does not disappoint. It really is laugh out loud comedy, and main characters Frankie and Max are both likeable and realistic - despite finding themselves in some very outlandish and unexpected situations! It has a very satisfying ending and is possibly my favorite MacIntosh book to date!

I have read and enjoyed books by Portia MacIntosh before, but for some reason The Meet Cute Method just did not quite deliver. Frankie, a journalist who writes about dating and relationships, has a new boss who she must impress or she will be fired. She has the idea of writing an article about real life ‘meet cutes’ being better than dating apps, but her attempts are either dismal failures or a bit cringeworthy.
In the meantime, she meets Max in the lift at work and they seem to be getting on well. He invites her on an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii, which her boss is keen to exploit, but does not let on that it is a get-together for his extremely wealthy family until they arrive at the luxury resort. This is where the narrative does not quite work for me. It becomes obvious that Frankie cannot continue to set up meet cutes, while convincingly playing the part of Max’s fake fiancée. The main problem was that the relationship between Frankie and Max was not entirely convincing. The spent hardly any time together and, despite a promising start, the chemistry between them was underdeveloped.
The story is told entirely from Frankie’s point of view, but I found her quite hard to relate to. As a lot of the story is about Max’s difficult relationship with his family, I would have liked some chapters from his perspective. The descriptions of the Hawaiian setting are wonderfully evocative, and one of the best things about The Meet Cute Method – I would definitely love to visit that part of the world.
Ultimately, this was a pleasant enough read, but there were too many romance tropes fighting for space when one would have been enough. Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a digital copy to review.

Poor old Frankie is your typical ‘always unlucky in love’ character. So much so, she’s even resigned to it being her raison d’etre for her journalism job, where she writes about online dating and searching for Mr Right.

When new editor Addison arrives at the office, Frankie finds herself pitching the idea of ‘meet cutes’; a step away from the popular online dating scene and a return to more traditional methods of meeting people by chance, just like in the movies.

It quickly becomes apparent that Frankie doesn’t appear cut out for this either, with some excruciatingly cringeworthy, yet often hilarious encounters taking place. But could Mr Right and her perfect meet cute be right under her nose without her even realising it?

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it certainly won’t be the last! I was thoroughly entertained from the outset, with laughs a plenty and lots of moments where I totally empathised with Frankie. The dog in the park chapter was a definite favourite!

The reader is then transported to idyllic Hawaii, where, although the scenery is stunning, Frankie’s search for love only gets more complicated! I loved the interactions with Max and seeing how their story developed. You can’t help but root for them both to work things out!

A perfect summer feel-good romance that you won’t want to put down!
