Portia MacIntosh has quickly shot to the top of my list as one of my favorite authors! She never fails to make me laugh out loud, like the lost pug in the park scene! The author creates characters that are empathetic, dialogue that is engaging and scenes that have me guffawing one minute and swooning the next. When Frankie sits in the cabana alone and the lizard runs away from her, I was shrieking with delight and screaming, I CAN RELATE!!

Frankie and Max were wonderful together, in all of ways that romantic tropes can be. Meet cute? Check. Forced proximity? Check. Fake dating? Check. All set in Hawaii? LOVE! I also loved Frankie's work BFF Cora and the antics of Max's family. It made for a fantastic, lighthearted, loveable read.

Don't miss out on any of Portia MacIntosh's book, especially this one!

This was a very cute story. Reminded me of a mash up of several rom-coms: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days most specifically, although that is not the premise of the story at all. This was the perfect summer read: fun characters, total escapism, a story that you can pretty much guess at the end, but still a few surprises along the way.

The Meet Cute Method by Portia MacIntosh

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Do movie romances ever happen in real life...?

Frankie doesn't believe in true love. As relationships expert at popular magazine Stylife, she has learnt that dating disasters are far more common than happy ever afters.

So when she is tasked to find out if meet cutes can work in real life she is up for the challenge - but whether it's being a damsel in distress with a flat tyre, or spilling coffee over a stranger, she isn't convinced this can really lead to love.

This is a cute and light-hearted read. An entertaining rom-com that would suit being a lovely holiday read as it is so easy to get lost in. Frankie has some moments that you can't help but feel embarrassed for her, but there is also quite a lot of humor.

Rating 4/5

Oh I loved that book so much! I found myself laughing out loud so many times during my read! And I love when it happens! This is such a lovely but also fun book to read! So entertaining! And so well-written! The main character is so goofy, it's incredible! She always finds herself in incredible situation! I loved that! Also even though I read A LOT of chicklit all year round, this time, there has been many things happening in this book that I didn't see them coming! This is a really good point for that story! You will be surprised too I am sure! I can't wait to read another book by Portia MacIntosh who never fails to entertain me! Thank you! 4 stars out of 5 for this book for me!

Frankie is a relationship expert at the magazine Stylife, but having seen so many dating disasters, she no longer believes in true love. She's expecting a promotion at the magazine, but what she gets is a new boss hoping to shake things up. She comes up with trying out meet cutes to see if they actually work in real life or lose her job. Will she find the man of her dreams or just more duds?

Who doesn't love a meet cute? Rom Com movies are built on them, so when I saw a book full of meet cutes, I thought I have to read that!

This is my first Portia MacIntosh book and I can certainly say this won't be my last!

The Meet Cute Method was such a sweet and funny book that gave me all the fuzzy feelings I wanted from a Rom Com.

Frankie was such an entertaining character! Usually I find the whole 'career woman' type a little annoying, but not so with her. All of her mishaps made her endearing and very likeable.

There was plenty of humour and fun throughout the book. Although I'm a person who sometimes suffers from second hand embarrassment so there were a couple of flirting disasters that made me cringe a bit.

I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't entirely clear who Frankie would end up with at the end, if anyone at all, but there was still a happily ever after moment, which is the main reason I read romance.

The Meet Cute Method is a fun and entertaining romantic comedy, with a great cast of characters. Perfect if you're looking for some escapism.

DNF at 30%

Frankie is clueless when it comes to love. After being assigned a task to write an article about meet-cutes, she blunders every bit of research she can come by. Until she meets Max, who invites her on a trip to Hawaii as a friend trip. Now, Frankie has two weeks to learn about love and meet-cutes from Max- so who's to say that true love isn't in the question?

This book is by no means bad! The reasons I'm DNF-ing are really quite simple and they are because I'm genuinely not interested in the story anymore. The writing style is fine, and even the premise is pretty fun. I just have no interest in finishing it. I'm a bit bored if I'm being honest, but again, that has nothing to do with the book itself. I just don't want to spend time on a book that I'm not loving right now!

Overall, I'd still recommend this book if you're a romcom person. I liked some of the humor and from what I've seen, the romance will be cute as well.

This is a fun read with some light-hearted moments and amusing characters. Tasked to write articles about he attempts at meeting Mr Right, Frankie uses any opportunity to try out some possible meet cute opportunities. You escape with Frankie to Hawaii as part of her writing assignment and meets up with some interesting characters. Frankie likes to embrace her quirky side and knows how she feels comfortable to dress. At times, she has to suppress it and she realises that this is not the way to happiness.
Any fan of romcoms will recognise the situations which Frankie gets into. It develops into a fake dating trope and by the end you are really rooting for Frankie and hoping that she gets her heart's desire. With some exotic locations, the millionaire lifestyle and a peep into how the rich live, this is an entertaining romcom, just right got the summer.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book

The queen is back right another gem that doesn’t disappoint. Just when you think she’s hit the highest point, she bounces back with another FANTASTICALLY brilliant book.

Frankie is a stunning character who I’ve felt completely able to relate to. I really have felt like I have loved her as I’ve read this one.

This is a book which has made my heart swell. There has been moments of laughter and moments where I’ve felt really emotional.

Every book Portia writes just gets better and better. Once again, this is one of my absolute favourites and I have devoured this gem in one sitting.

There is nothing to dislike about this gorgeous book. Portia is just fantastic and The Meet Cute Method is an absolute must for the TBR.

Portia MacIntosh is the gift that keeps on giving. I have loved every one of her books so far.

Frankie is given the task of writing a piece about meeting men the old fashioned way, in order to keep her job. She quickly learns that she is terrible at setting up meet cutes. However, soon the perfect opportunity presents itself.

If you enjoy classic romcoms and a relatable heroine then this story is for you.

This was the perfect book to get me out a bad mood, because I laughed so much with this, the perfect romantic and entertaining book, I knew from the opening chapter it was going to be fun. I loved Frankie she’s the ‘girl next door’. I and I loved this aspect, she’s such a realistic character who doesn’t find love so easily, which is a change in books , but I won’t say more as you need to enjoy for yourself. This book is a perfect beach read material and you won’t be I able to put it down, a thoroughly entertaining read with love and sunshine – and so much fun.

I think I say this every time I read a new book by Portia, but I think this is my new fave. I absolutely loved it from start to finish.

This book is an excellent example of a perfect balance. Some moments are completely laugh out loud, such as when Frankie pretends to drown in a pool that’s only 4 ft deep, and others, especially towards the end of the book, that are really touching and heart-warming.

You’ve also got the balance of the hustle, bustle and challenge of dating and trying to meet people in London, followed by the far more relaxed and idyllic scenes from Hawaii.

Finally, Portia perfectly pitches a predictable romance story, but provides enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes. There was one twist in particular that I didn’t see coming, but this then propels the plot forward and adds to thee tension as well as the entertainment.

I also feel that Portia brought the character of Frankie to life, as she was completely vibrant, funny, as well as likeable and relatable. I related to her desire to do well at work but also her loyalty to her own values and some of the other wonderful characters in the book.

Overall, a fantastic read to get me in the mood for lots of fun summer romance reads to come. I would highly recommend this addictive book and wonderful author to fans of Paige Toon, Holly Martin and Mary Jayne Baker. I simply can’t fault it.

Ever since I watched The Holiday for the first time (I watch it every year) I've been intrigued by the idea of the "Meet Cute". Naturally I had to read this book! I was in the need of something whimsical, comical lighthearted, & with a happy ending. This book qualified! With a new boss, her job hanging in the balance ,and trying to finagle a story that just won't cooperate, Frankie finds herself unexpectedly invited to Hawaii. And her new boss makes her go. Naturally, she has an ulterior motive for her love and relationship writer. And while Frankie is so busy trying to set up situations that would work for her story, she's about to miss the obvious right in front of her. This is a perfect light hearted, feel good, summer beach read!

ok! this is a really fun take on how to date the good old way without tech coming in-between. although the premise sounds cliché, Portia has added her spin into the characters and really given the book a lot of character. I love how she actually finds the one, but does not realize it until it is too late. I love the fact that Frankie is a normal girl with spunk. there are a lot of little details that really make you smile, be it the word banter between characters, or the accidental falls and flashes, it is an entertaining read.

The Meet Cute Method by Portia MacIntosh
Do movie romances ever happen in real life?
Frankie doesn't believe in true love. As a relationships expert at popular magazine Stylife, she has learnt that dating disasters are far more common than happy ever afters.
So when she is tasked to find out if meet-cutes can work in real life, she is up for the challenge - but whether it's being a damsel in distress with a flat tyre or spilling coffee over a stranger, she isn't convinced this can lead to love.
But little does Frankie know that the ultimate meet-cute opportunity is just around the corner. As she is whisked off her feet (all in the name of her work project, of course), perhaps true love isn't just for the movies after all?
The Meet Cute Method is another well-penned entertaining read by Portia MacIntosh.
It's a feel-good, amusing, fabulous, straightforward rom-com.
I am happy to recommend it.

I have been a fan of Portia’s work or a while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written but that’s something I hope to rectify fairly soon. I love the way Portia writes such fun and feel good romantic comedies. I read the synopsis of ‘The Meet Cute Method’ and it certainly sounded along similar lines as her other books. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for an interesting afternoon of reading. Overall I did enjoy reading ‘The Meet Cute Method’ but more about that in a bit.
I have to be honest and say that it took me a little while to get into ‘The Meet Cute Method’. I think part of the problem was that I didn’t feel an immediate connection to Frankie, who is the main character. That said as time went on and I got to know Frankie better I began to warm to her. Once I got into the story that was it and I was away. To say that reading this book became addictive is a wee bit of an understatement. I became extremely reluctant to put the book to one side for any length of time. It was as if the book had developed a hold over me and it was a hold that I wasn’t willing to break. I couldn’t turn the pages of the book quickly enough as I worked my way through the story. I soon got to the end of ‘The Meet Cute Method’. I found ‘The Meet Cute Method’ to be a delightful, fun, feel good and very funny read.
‘The Meet Cute Method’ is well written. Portia has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Portia’s books is more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. I started chuckling away to myself from fairly early on in the book and I don’t think I stopped for the duration of the story. Portia clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid way in which she describes them. Her characters seem just as real as you and I. I love the way in which Portia makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves and at the heart of the action.
In short, I really enjoyed reading ‘The Meet Cute Method’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Portia’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily.
Frankie was the star of this book; a realistic heroine who is going through the motions of a life of working in a job which isn't her ideal, living in a shared home which isn't her ideal, commuting fills most of her spare time and to top it all she's far from lucky in love. Oh, and then she has a new boss! There were so many funny moments in this book and the author's descriptions were realistic - thank goodness I'm too old for a 'Love Island' swimsuit 😂. This book is at the top end of my recommended romcoms, grab it while you can!

“𝕎𝕖 𝕒𝕝𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕜 𝕨𝕖’𝕣𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕞𝕒𝕚𝕟 𝕔𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣, 𝕕𝕠𝕟’𝕥 𝕨𝕖? 𝔹𝕦𝕥, 𝕚𝕟 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕥𝕪, 𝕟𝕠 𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕚𝕤 𝕡𝕒𝕪𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕟𝕪 𝕒𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕦𝕤.”

Frankie is jaded when it comes to true love, in fact she’s quite certain it doesn’t exist. Which is ironic since she writes the love and relationship at the popular magazine Stylife. A new boss comes in and upsets the whole work environment, and now Frankie’s job is on the line.

This romcom was hilarious. In the beginning It’s full of all the meet cutes any heart could desire, and they all turn out tragically. Like apocalyptically tragic, these forced meet cures result in Accidentally stealing a dog, Almost getting arrested, and being forced to the hospital.

Then the story takes a fun turn with an au natural meet cute this time and… going to Hawaii! (Since I just went to Hawaii a month ago and have been dying to go back ever since, this was absolutely delightful)

This lighthearted romance knocked it out of the park for me. I’ve never read any of Portia MacIntosh’s books before but this one was great! And I’m excited to go back and read some more of hers!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of "The Meet Cute Method" by Portia MacIntosh.

Frankie is a journalist for a love and dating advice magazine at a popular magazine house. A new boss has been hired for the Stylife section of the magazine and on the morning that she needs to be on time Frankie is caught up with the total insanity of real life ending with the elevator breaking down as she rushes to her floor. With her new boss and her job on the line Frankie is tasked with attempting 'meet cutes' in real life to show that people can still meet in real life and not just on the internet. We follow Frankie through many horrible attempts at meet cutes that end up failing while the real thing is happening right under her nose.

This was a fun and easy read. I appreciate that MacIntosh owns that this entire story has all the meet cute scenarios possible from workplace dating to fake engagements. It made the book not take itself too seriously and kept the light hearted vibe of this book going even through the parts that in any other contemporary romance would have made me cry. This book is short enough that it doesn't really ever get boring, nor does it tug on my heartstrings as much as longer romances, which can be a nice change. I thought Frankie was relatable and it was fun reading about how 'the other side' live from her perspective. You instantly like Max and that feeling only grows as you get to know him through the book and despite not setting off the waterworks I was still rooting for them in the end.

A fun summer read.
