Another great book from Portia MacIntosh, flew through it laughing out loud all the way! Definitely worth reading

Oh how I raced through this book. After a few serious books it was so nice to pick up this easy, lighthearted, fun book about dating and romance. I was laughing out loud all throughout.

Being a hopeless romantic who loves the old fashioned way of meeting someone, I was drawn to this book. It’s that instant chemistry, which I enjoyed reading about Frankie trying to make happen for an article at work or risk being sacked!!

The things she had to do to get a meet cute and the situations she got herself in was just hilarious! But the dog scene had to be the most funniest. I was walking around the garden reading this just laughing to myself in the sunshine.

This was giving me all the holiday vibes too thanks to some of the story being set in Hawaii. Such a dream location. Get me abroad watching that sunset.

It’s one of those ones that you should really judge a book by it’s cover! It’s fab!

This book started out really good and had a lot of potential. At first, the scenes were hilarious and had me snorting with laughter. But halfway through, I can't say if it was the writing or the plot, but the book wasn't as engaging as the first half. I only read on to get through it to know the ending. Maybe this book just wasn't for me.

I raced through this witty and hilarious rom com! The story line was great, and completely hit the mark for the perfect fake dating romance story. I found myself laughing out loud on many occasions and this was just an all round good time! Definitely recommend!

another Portia MacIntosh story that was great. They are always good stories. I like Portia stories and they are must reads.

In this book, Frankie, a writer, is researching different meet-cute ideas for an article that she is writing to impress her new editor. Frankie has some very interesting encounters, one of which has her having a dog returned to her that wasn't really missing (or hers to begin with!). While Frankie is searching for the perfect meet-cute to write about, she just might miss the perfect real meet-cute right in front of her.

This book had me at Paul Rudd look-alike! I loved the chemistry between Max and Frankie and those two were just one mis-understanding after another. It was never dull. The author wrote his family dynamics up perfectly. These two had some much going against them and you couldn't help but cheer for them to work out. I loved it!

This made me laugh and it was such a cute read. It was a slower burn so it took me a little bit to get into but once it gained momentum, I couldn't put it down!

This was described to me as a romcom, think "how to meet a guy in 10 days" so I immediately requested and was so happy when I got an ARC.

Frankie George is a writer for the Love & Dating portion of Stylife magazine. With structural changes closing in on Frankies job she feels pressure to come up with new content. Frankie pitches using "meet cutes" as a way of meeting people. Think, couple met in line at a coffee shop. or Couple met at a bar when cute man spilled his beer on cute girl.

Max, a techie and new friend, who works in the same building as her, offers her a free trip to Hawaii. Sounds too good to be true? It is. When Frankie arrives in Maui she finds out that Max, who she just met, has told his family that she’s his fiancee!

So overall this was cute but missed the mark for a me a little bit. I wished that Frankie and Max were more dynamic. Frankie gave off the "im not like other girls" vibe that us girls roll our eyes at. I also thought the "poor rich boy who doesnt get along with his family" trope is overdone. Sorry Max. I did like the actual meet cutes themselves and thought that was a fun part of the story.

The Meet Cute Method is a laugh-out-loud rom-com.

Oh, this book is a hoot!! I stumbled upon this book on NetGalley and knew right from the title that I needed to get my virtual hands on it. I just LOVE meet cutes in rom-com books. So when I found out there is a book that centers around different meet cutes, it was like I had died and went to romance heaven. Frankie is such a real down-to-earth character, and I adored everything about her. I really loved the fact that she is not perfect, she doesn’t have that perfect figure, and things go terribly wrong when she interacts with the opposite sex.

This book’s main premise is about Frankie, who is tasked with trying out different “meet cutes” with strangers to write an article for the magazine she works for. If you are a fan of rom-com and/or romance movies, you will love all the movie references scattered throughout this book. It had me thinking about my favourite rom-com, and I decided it was 50 First Days or anything with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler in it. Those two are just so fabulous together. Not only are there movie references, but there are discussions about different types of meet cutes and which one is the best. I can’t decide what my favourite is. Whenever Frankie would try and re-enact one of them, things usually would go horrible (and hilariously) wrong. I was rolling on the floor, laughing at some of the situations she would find herself in. Frankie’s work-life really has a “How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days” vibe to it.

While Frankie is busy trying to have a successful meet cute with perfect strangers, she fails to realize that she is having those moments with Max, a tech writer who works in her office building. The romance between Max and Frankie has lots of those romancey cliches, and things progress between these two in a slightly unbelievable manner. But that approach to their relationship fits really well with the whole structure of the story. The cliches just worked so well and were what made this book so much fun.

The Meet Cute Method is tons of fun and will have you laughing and swooning.

Overall The Meet Cute Method was a pretty good rom com. I liked the premise and there were a few laugh-out-loud moments. Other reviewers seemed to find them cringy, but I think that was the point - to show how awful modern dating can be sometimes. I would definitely go into this book with a bit of suspension of disbelief, because all of Frankie's bad luck with the meet cutes wasn't very realistic (although I did find it very funny and entertaining).
Overall I liked the characters, although I found Frankie to be a bit too self-deprecating for my taste the first half of the book. It did get better toward the end. I really liked Max and would have loved a bit more development on him, but that would be tricky with the way the plot plays out. There were a few characters that were unlikeable at first, but you saw another side of them, and others that were meant to be just plain unlikeable, but were well-written.
The ending wrapped up nicely, although it felt a bit rushed and abrupt. I would have liked a bit more in the last two chapters, but was not disappointed in the way it ended.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes dating disasters, books set in London, and fictional trips to Hawaii.

Portia MacIntoch knows how to make me feel good, well with some ups and down but at the end I feel so nice. A love story that starts as friends and goes on a real discovery of what the characters are looking for. It is infront of our eyes and it is perfect. Some misunderstandings leads just to deeper understanding. I love the slow burning and waiting for the connection to come true. And I have got little describtions of Hawaii and Lax, London. It was a pleasure to read such a tender story.

What you'd expect from a chicklit.

Frankie George has one ambition: a promotion at the magazine where she works. A promotion that comes with a salary increase so she will be able to afford a flat and move out of the house share she lives in. Alas, because of dwindling sales a new editor is put in charge, and she hates all the things Frankie wrote about before. But a pitch - made up on the spot - for an article about meeting the old fashioned way (or as people do in romcoms) gets the support of this new editor. But every meet cute she tries to set up runs disastrous.

Meanwhile, she keeps running in to Max, a writer for a webazine based in the same building. One day over lunch Frankie mentions to him how she needs a break, and he suggests she'll go on holiday with him. The friend he's supposed to go with can't make it. Frankie accepts, but it turns out there are a few things Max forgot to mention.

There was a lot happening in this one. Frankie is trying to meet guys using contrived ‘meet cutes’ in order to write an article for her new hard-to-please boss. Along the way she struggles through some rather cringey encounters and also manages to accidentally end up in a real romance? Except that ends up being a fake-dating scenario? A lot happened. It was an enjoyable if bumpy ride. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

Frankie George is the main protagonist. The story is told from her perspective throughout. A very quick and easy read that I completed over the course of a morning.

My favourite part by far was the Hawaii setting. It was depicted beautifully and it’s a dream destination of mine so I never struggle to enjoy l hearing about it.

I adored Max he was the best character for me, I liked how he was humble and not living on the family name. I think all the character were very well written in the sense that not all were likeable. I’m looking at you Albi!

The Ray family gave me major Succession vibes with the two brothers slogging it out for the top spot with their Father.

I didn’t really appreciate all the meet cutes that Frankie was trying to arrange for herself. I found it to be cringy at times. Overall I enjoyed the book and think it would be a lovely beach read.

I LOVEEEED THIS BOOK, LIKE LOVEEED, OUR PROTAGONIST Frankie, writes for a women's magazine, and she wants a promotion, and here comes the funny part, she insists in recreate moments from romcoms, but that's not at easy as it sounds.. Then we meet Max, and they keep hanging out and they develop this friendship that turns into love story.


It's a quick, funny, easy read, once you start you can't stop, because the story moves fast.

This book was so much fun! The heroine, Frankie was a little quirky but I think that just made her more interesting as a character. She is desperately searching for a romantic first meeting, but completely misses it when it happens naturally with Max, the male protagonist. The story then moves to Hawaii, where Frankie has to pretend to be Max’s girlfriend when meeting his family. It’s fast paced and funny, with a lot going on. Portia MacIntosh’s books never fail to make me laugh, and this one definitely lives up to expectations!

Portia Macintosh is fast becoming the queen of romantic comedy, her books are always so much fun to read, lighthearted and guaranteed to make you smile.

The characters are all well developed and flawed, Frankie was such a klutz, but it just made her all the more lovable. And imagining Max as a Paul Rudd lookalike throughout just kept making me think I wasn't too see this on the big screen, it would be perfect!

Think I'm getting old as before this I had no idea what a 'meet cute' was, do you?

If friends to lovers is your go to trope you'll love this hilarious piece of escapism into the world of journalism and finding love.

Wow! I want Frankie to be my friend, she was an incredible character to spend time with. This novel is laugh out loud funny, romantic, sexy and such a beautiful fun story. Loved it

The meet cute method, was such a cute lovely read. I always love when books incorporate famous romcoms movies in to books (I love romcom movies)

This book centers on the main character Frankie. Frankie writes for a woman’s magazine about dating and relationship advice even though she has no successfully experiences in either. When her secured promotion goes into hiatus when she gets a new boss, Frankie is determined to charm her way to get the job. Even if it requires recreating famous meet cutes from iconic romcoms. Turns out it’s not so easy finding a man that falls in love with you just because you fall into his arms. After trying various of meet cute arrangements Frankie is ready to surrender, until she runs into Max the most meet cute kind of guy you’ll ever meet, except Frankie doesn’t realise this yet. After crossing paths multiple times Max decides to do something about it and invite Frankie on a spontaneous holiday to Hawaii (since his friend can’t make it 😏).
And who would say no to a completely free trip to Hawaii DID I MENTION FREE…. but everything was too good to be true for Frankie and it was proven just that when Max’s whole crazy family is staying with them ….. in the same resort….

Portia macintosh did a lovely job with this book, it was funny and it had some great characters. However I would have liked more alone moments with just Frankie and Max , as I did think the ending was quite rushed together.
I also would have less mentions that Frankie was not like other girls …… I think it was just stated way to many times that it kind of made me dislike Frankie sometimes. Third problem with this book would have been the uncle He just really bothered me ….

Any ways if you want a cute romcom read with little but good drama I recommend you try this book.

I actually really enjoyed this book. I loved Frankie, she was such a chaotic character, at times I was laughing out loud at her. I liked Max, even though I couldn't put my finger on something at the beginning about him.

I thought it worked well and the pacing was good. Some parts I found a little repetitive but it was still a very good book.
