Small town? Christmas tree farm? AND A CUTE PUP!? What more could a Christmas novel need! This was such a perfect Christmas romance! I instantly fell in love with Merry. I loved the humor and banter in this book between the two main characters!
I can’t recommend this book enough!!

What if you got a second chance with your high school crush? Would you jump on it and try to become part of their life or just let them slip away? This book was such a cute second chance romance. This is the second book in the series and after Noelle and Nick’s book last year I knew I wanted to read this. Such a fun and cute read.

I was really excited for this book. I’m a huge fan of Hallmark movies and books like that.
This was not it for me.

It claims to be similar to You’ve Got Mail, and I’m offended.

Yes, it did have some anonymous letter writing, but it fell super flat.

Several things bothered me, so I will try to make sense of it all. ***some may be spoilery, so proceed with caution***

1. The sexual scenes in this were pretty explicit and they felt not earned. I am ok with those scenes if I feel like it makes sense and I care about the characters enough.
2. One sexual scene in particular was VERY cringey to me. VERY. I guess I don’t know what people do while driving…….but I’m pretty sure giving a blow job while drunk isn’t safe behavior. I just hated this scene. I wanted to stop reading, but I finished the book because this is an ARC.
3. I didn’t find Merry’s side hustle amusing. Again, I’m probably just no fun, but stuffed penis toys didn’t do it for me. Whatever.
4. Clark is an enabler and foolish. His enabling behavior is praised as kindness. No thank you.
5. The writing felt super clunky. I didn’t like the similes throughout the entire book. Examples:
“Honesty poured out of Clark like hot soup from a thermos.”

“Sarcasm oozed from her tone like paint spilling over cement.”

“Clark’s mouth on hers warmed her like a cup of spike cocoa and she wanted more of those smooches.”

What DID I like?

I liked the Christmas town a little bit. I liked certain parts of the book. I would get a little hopeful, and I was let down again.

I’m sorry. :( this book was not for me. I will I liked it better.

Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️

Okay you guys!! This book is so cute!! I finished it in a day and it brings all the hallmark Christmas feels with some bonus spice! This is the perfect book to curl up on the couch and read with a cup of hot cocoa during Christmas time.

This book is supposed to be enemies-to-lovers I think but it’s really more of a misunderstanding-so-we-aren’t-really-friends-but-I-don’t-not-like-you… to lovers. Merry and Clark are such a cute couple. Both of them have been hurt by relationships in the past so they are both having to work through problems. I just love how they communicate and talk to each other… well after the initial speed bump. Oh ya, did I mention that Clark is a single dad?! I love the relationship Merry has with Clark’s son and that they really prioritize him.

Merry’s family in this book is so close and I love how her parents take care of everyone. I now want to own my own Christmas tree farm and start knitting! This book is honestly just an amazing feel good Christmas book!

This is a sweet small town Christmas romcom, the follow up to “Nick and Noel’s Christmas Playlist” that will put you in the holiday spirit! The characters were cute and felt authentic, and the dating app device worked well.
I enjoyed this book very much. 4 stars.

Synopsis:

Get in the holiday spirit with this sexy rom-com from the author of Nick and Noel's Christmas Playlist.

Merry Winters has the holiday blues. She's spent the last year learning to love herself, and now she's ready to find the right guy. But the pickings are slim in Mistletoe, Idaho, and it’s just her luck that the man who catches her eye is the stoic new foreman at her family’s Christmas tree farm. Too bad he wants to keep a 39-and-a-half-foot pole between them.

Single dad Clark Griffin isn't looking for romance, but he wouldn't mind a friend to snuggle with on a cold winter's night. When he signs up for online dating, he doesn't expect to connect with the sassy, crafty Knottygirl25 and get wrapped up in every message she writes.

But when Merry turns out to be his blind internet date, his surprise causes him to miss his chance under the mistletoe. Can a little Christmas magic give these two a second chance at a first impression?

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

Cute. Mistletoe sounds like an adorable town. The family is over the top with holiday names and cheer, but it’s sweet and fits the story. Definite found family vibes. Fast romance, but it works. Jace is sweet and the side characters are great.

This is book 2 in the Mistletoe Romance series and my first time reading something by this author. I found it to be a charming and cute story, perfect to get you in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. Merry wants to take over the family Christmas tree farm and Clark is the new foreman. With both none the wiser, their relationship actually starts out on a dating app and then they start to fall for each other in person. Merry and Clark were such an adorable couple, and I really enjoyed the witty and fun banter between them. They also had a great connection and chemistry. They were two charming and endearing characters that I couldn't help but fall in love with. The secondary characters were also great and added a lot of fun and humor to the story.
If you're looking for a light, fun, holiday read, then this is your book. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more by this author.

This is the second book in this series. I have read the first book, Nick and Noel's Christmas Playlist, and I enjoyed that book. But I liked this one even better.

In this second holiday read by Codi Hall, we see another member of of the Winters family finding love. This time it's Merry, first falling for her anonymous internet pen pal, who she soon learns is their Christmas tree farm foreman and single dad, Clark. But they both come with emotional baggage and struggle to find their footing in this Christmas romance.

Overall, this book is cute, steamy, and full of holiday cheer. But at the same time, it feels like about four books mashed together. A little bit You've Got Mail, a little bit a few other things. The first half feels almost startling different from the second, making it feel a bit disconnected. Don't get me wrong, I liked all the parts--all the characters are immensely likable--it just had a hard time coming together and could have perhaps been a bit shorter. No regrets reading this one, though, and I look forward to reading the third sibling's story presumably next year!

Thanks to Sourcebooks for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4 stars - 8/10

Author Codi Hall is the master of Christmas rom com., second chance novels. This is the perfect amount of sparkly sweet tempered with some steam!! The author of Nick and Noel’s playlist brings us Merrys story. After taking a year off from dating she finds herself getting very close to the hunky land foreman of her parents Christmas tree farm. I loved all the You’ve Got Mail vibes, and found the characters to be real and charming, even the ones we aren’t supposed to like! Treat yourself and a friend to what will easily be this seasons best holiday romance.

This holiday romance with single dad trope in a small town is even better than I thought it would be. Merry and Clark had such adorable banter, and having Jace, Clark's son, present makes the story even cuter.

The first half of the book felt slower than the second half, which has more drama, and the plot shift from the online texting to them meeting in person felt sudden. The secondary characters were excellent especially Merry's brother, Nick. They made the plot more entertaining and it makes me want to read Nick's book too.

Someone said this is the holiday version of You've Got Mail and it was the first thing that got me hooked. I now finally understand why though it needs to be more rivalry and it felt like there's something missed, nevertheless it still counts and I didn't regret reading this at all!

There's Something About Merry was the perfect read to get me in to the Christmas spirit. Clark and Merry are couple goals. I am so glad that the author gave us a single dad! Clark's son Jace is hilarious and I love the relationship between Clark and his brother Sam. The Mistletoe series is so fun and I can't wait for the next book, Along Came Holly! I will be recommending this to my friends. I am so in love with this author! She is so authentic and truly cares about her readers!

This was such an adorably sweet Christmas story! It was a little slow starting out, but it picked up pretty quickly and kept me enthralled until the end. And no third act break up! Definitely going on my list of favorite Christmas romances!

So I was nervous about this book because I did have mixed feelings on book one. While I really loved the characters and the small town setting I felt the dialogue was a little off with nick and noel. With this book and Merry and Clark I do think the dialogue improved so much! I can see a lot of growth in this book.

I didn't really connect to Merry and Clark though. I don't have anything negative to say though, maybe they just were a match for me. I enjoyed the characters from Nick and Noel more, but the writing from this book more.

I liked getting to know more about Victoria, and I really enjoyed the slight glimpses of Nick and Noel, but also that you could read this as a standalone which is nice. Though I read book one, i'm always nervous if its been a while that it will affect my reading of a sequel, and this didn't happen.

I am really really really looking forward to Holly's story because she has some major rival energy with Declan and maybe even love triangle vibes with Sam. I think it will be an excellent addition to this series.

This one was cute! It definitely didn't leave a lasting impact, but bits of it were fun. I loved Daisy and Jace, they were adorable. The main romance was cute, i just felt like this dragged on a bit. Still cute though

DNF at 47% - I found this book to be chaotic and the characters flat. It felt like there is so much dialogue used in order to fill in for a lack of a plot. There are so many characters in some scenes that it feels overcrowded. For example: Her first date with a guy she met on a dating website she brings her siblings (Nick, Noel, and Holly - catch the theme?) and her friends, and her ex is there, and the girl he cheated on her with, and then the guy from the dating website shows up to this crowd. Also, the whole point of her bringing all of these people is because she doesn't know what he looks like and he doesn't know what she looks like which seemed out of place for me since it's set in modern day and I am pretty confident that dating websites require photos these days.

Additionally, I did not care for any of the characters. Not one. Merry comes off as immature and slightly toxic to me. Clark seems to be kind of flat and not very heartwarming for a romantic character. Jace's dialogue doesn't seem to fit that of a 7-year-old's. There is so much dialogue with the many side characters that I had a hard time keeping track of what the storyline was supposed to be. There is not a lot of follow through with things that happen to Merry. For example, she has to get stitches on the bottom of her foot after an incident, but the author barely mentions the foot pain afterwards and she is already walking on her foot very shortly after. I'm not a doctor but I am pretty sure that would be painful to walk on for awhile.

In conclusion: this is not the book for me but it might be for other readers. I would not recommend this book for young readers and teenagers as there are a lot of sexual innuendos made up to the point where I gave up. There is a crochet project of a male apparatus that is heavily mentioned, for example.

Please note: I received an electronic ARC of this book by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!

There’s Something About Merry, is the second book in the Mistletoe Romance series by Codi Hall. This is a remarkably sweet, feel-good, festive romance. It truly borders on a Hallmark movie, if not for the steamier sections. It is a cute story about Merry, Nick and Holly’s close-knit, kind-hearted family, and Clark, Jace and Sam, the trio they “adopt” as a part of their lives. I absolutely loved the Winter family’s warmth, acceptance of others, and the strong family ties and healthy, familial bonds portrayed in this novel.

This story focuses on the romance between Clark, single father and foreman of the tree farm, and Merry, the daughter with many trades, who also wants to take over her family farm from her father one day. While I loved so much about this endearing story, I was not a fan of the more detailed, bedroom scenes, or their quick jump to the physical relationship. I also think the story was a bit too long and I felt it while reading it.

Nonetheless, I was impressed by this story. I did not read the first in this series, which didn’t seem to matter, nor have I read any other books by this author, and it was a joy to read. There were some important lessons and character traits shared, a lovely scenic setting, and I walked away from it feeling it’s festive, feel-good vibes.
