I have cleared some space in my bookshelf for 'Winning the Mental Game'. I believe it is worth to keep it close to seek guidance in order to cultivate improvement and a more productive mindset.

In this playbook, Dr. Amber Selking provides a well-structured guide with some clues to help recognize and modify negative patterns or unproductive habits, find motivation, work on confidence and control attention. Each of the eight proposed ‘plays’ is accompanied with doable exercises eminently practical, and complemented with links to online videos, podcasts, articles, .... And even if many examples are based on sports people, it is also addressed to the general public.

Personally, after practicing some tasks for just a few days, I have the impression that it will be useful for self-improvement in the long term.

Winning the Mental Game is the playbook for building a championship mindset by Dr. Amber Selking, who has devoted her career to helping optimize people's performance. The ideas behind this book are simple, and I would say it’s relatively achievable for all people. At the same time, readers can access videos through QR codes and different exercises throughout the book. Starting from understanding brain science, the book illustrates eight plays of mindset training with organized details. Having a background with professional football teams, Dr. Selking uses real-life examples to start each play and illustrate how every step matters in order to build a successful mindset. It’s possible to become the best version of our best selves, and it all starts with understanding and recognizing.

I enjoy reading more than I expected, and the content is well organized for everyone, including the videos from the QR codes. This book is a playbook, but it’s also informative and well-written. I appreciate that chapters are well connected with a practice sheet at the end of each chapter. Overall, I would recommend this book to readers that are looking for self-improvement in a systematic way – this is the book for you and all you need to do is just follow the steps and keep practicing.
