Kudos to Sandra Sookoo on this new installment to the Storme Brothers series (or sister in this case). Scandal, intrigue and, of course, romance. Loved the characters and found the story an engrossing read. Couldn't put it down.
Thank you Sandra Sookoo, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

She Courts Scandal

To escape her troubles, Isobel courts scandal. She wants love and attention, but she looks for it in all the wrong places. Will she finally find it while engaging in one of her scandalous jaunts? Isobel behaves outrageously at every turn, but she has no intention to fall in love, especially with an entitled gentleman. When she decides to have an affair with Royce, she has no idea how her world will change. Royce has no title, but it would only take his father dying for him to become an earl. What will happen when he comes into his title? Can he court a woman who courts scandal at every turn? Even if he wants to do such a thing, she wants nothing to do with a man with a title. It’s a dilemma. Can they overcome it? Isobel does not want to fall in love, but she loses her heart, anyway. Royce does not want to be involved with a woman who causes scandal, but he loves her. Will the two let go of what they want to do and embrace what their hearts desire? It is the only way to happiness. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like entertaining historical romance with scandal and unconventional characters.

Isobel Storme is having trouble being the young lady her family wants her to be. Royce Marsden a doctor who is taken with Isobel. Neither of them want to marry so they start an affair. They are able to keep it a secret. Isobel's mother is dying and she is stressed all of the time. She thinks she has to cause a scandal to be seen. Royce and Isobel have their ups and downs. They seem to understand each other more than anyone understands either of them. She doesn't want to marry someone with a title. Royce gets one when his father dies. Can he continue to be a doctor? They have much to iron out but love will prevail. Thank you NetGalley.

I feel as though I might have had a better hold on what was happening with the main characters, particularly with Isobel if I had read the other books in this series.

That being said I quite enjoyed the story and the two lead characters were a good fit.

A great book that can be read alone but works better if the previous books in the series have been read first. I loved how both Isobel and Royce are what today, we would call "rebels". Isobel is feeling restless and like she is missing something in her life and being the youngest in a large, outgoing family feels like she needs to create some sort of mild scandal to get her fair share of attention from all of those around her. So she starts acting out and periodically gets perilously close to having her wings not just singed but outright burned on scandals that she cannot come back from. Royce will someday be an Earl but thinks that is a long way off in the future so spends his time seeing into the care and comfort of war veterans. Then, his father suddenly dies leaving him with the responsibilities of the Earldom and the need to find a suitable wife. Unfortunately, the only woman he is really interested in is Isobel who is completely unsuitable in Society's eyes for him to even consider as a wife. The two start a rather torrid, secret affair and now they are both playing with fire and Ms. Sookoo has her readers feverishly turning the pages to find out what happens next. Do they get caught? Will they realize that what they feel for each other is not lust but love before they get caught? Or can they walk away from each other if Royce finds the proper paragon of a woman that Society will accept as a future wife for him? And what about Isobel? Does she continue to skirt close to creating a scandal in her attempts to figure out where she fits in or will she embrace everything that goes with being part of a large, loving, boisterous family and learn to revel in that instead? Do they get a HEA? Will it be with each other or someone else? Read and find out. It will be so worth it!

This is the fifth book of The Storme Brothers series and this time the story features a female, Isobel Storme. Isobel grew up in household where her mother was mistreated by her father and therefore has no desire for herself to get married and fall to the same fate. When given an ultimatum by her male relations, she needs a distraction and decides a scandal is in order and sets out to find one. She sets her sights on Royce. Royce is the oldest son of an earl, but wants nothing to do with the aristocracy. He has chosen a life of medicine and runs a clinic for wounded soldiers. Royce has no desire to mingle with the ton, but he cannot resist Isobel. Isobel scoffs at society's rules and does not want to marry a titled gentleman. As they carry on their affair, their passionate encounters turn into something deeper. When Royce's father passes, he has no choice but to accept the title, which poses a problem because Isobel wants nothing to do with titled gentlemen. But neither can she deny her feelings for Royce.
This was well-written, wild and passionate love story I enjoyed reading. A wonderful addition to the series!

I’m really fond of this series, which was intriguing from the very start! The main character of this book, Isobel, is a curious mix of strength and vulnerability, a vibrant character. She feels neglected and strives to be seen by playing mischief. I ached for her and loved that she found her HEA at the end. And Royce was the perfect choice for her! And now I look forward to the last cousin and I’m sure her book will be one of the best of the series.

Isobel Storme is lost as the youngest child and revels in creating havoc and scandal. Dr. Royce Marsden has worked hard to become a physician despite being the heir to a title he doesn't want.

This is the 5th book of a series but works well as a standalone. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC copy for review; this is my freely given opinion.
I haven't read any of the previous from the Storme Saga, so I am not sure if my review would be different.
I tried to like this book, but many elements didn't appeal to me.
Isabel Storme is the youngest sibling of the Storm family and doesn't accept changes. Her older brothers got married and are in love and she can deal with the fact that she is left behind to take care of her dying mother. So, to get everyone's attention she rebels and present herself in rebels ways. Or at least I think this is how Sandra tried to portray Isobel, however, Isabel comes across as someone selfish, in need of constant attention, and egotistical. I couldn't feel sympathy for her. She made everything about her. Her sister-in-law was pregnant - she ran away feeling sorry for herself. The hero's father died, she is sorry for herself. She plays the victim all the time. Because of that, I could feel the love between Isobel and Dr. Marsden. For me, it was just lust. Not a deep connection or bond between them to feel the love. And although I liked Dr. Marsden better than Isobel, I felt that he was interested in her, but not in love with her. It was difficult to finish the story because it lack true compassion from Isobel towards other people around her, and the victim card threw me off too. I am interested to learn more about the brothers because they were better characters to learn about it, so I will start reading from the beginning, but this is not the book for me.

I'm a bit conflicted about the score because the writings good, the hero is lovely but the heroine is IMO a pain in the neck. I understand how the baby of the family can rebel to get attention but Isobel is just so over the top and I didn't find her at all sympathetic. Whereas Royce is a lovely man and I think deserved a heroine that treasured and respected him rather than being a me me me character!

The Touch of a Storme by Sandra Sookoo is the first in this series to focus on a female Storme family member: Isobel, who is quirky, to say the least. She vows never to marry and to avoid the aristocracy at all costs; no title for her. Her mother is slowly dying, and William and Fanny have only been married a short time. She misses both of them, now that they spend less time with her in favor of one another. Her brother, William's, career as in inspector for the police is very successful, and now that her best friend, Fanny, has joined him in her career as a newspaper reporter, things are going very well. they are a good team. She hates change, feels invisible, and courts scandal simply to be seen. Her cousin, the earl, and her brother are very upset with her and have asked her to lie low for a while. She has been thinking about her next actions. She doesn't want to leave the world a virgin, but has not met a man with whom she is willing to share herself. Then she remembers Dr. Royce Marsden whom she met at Christmas. Yes, he could do nicely.

In this period in history it was probably easy for a woman to feel unseen, as they mostly were. Many probably did not mind as it was their lot in life, but Isobel did, and her pain was palpable. Most of the time her scandals were minor: sliding down a banister, for example. Her relationship with Royce would have been huge and irreparable, if discovered. Making love in semi-public places made it all so much more exciting. Then his father died and her became earl, she was sad for him, but she was worried that he would cease to be himself and become nothing more than the earl. What this meant for herself remained to be seen. This was a wonderful story about being oneself in a world where that was discouraged. There are many take-aways that would suit our modern world. This book was genius in many ways, and a simple love story in many others. Great book!

Isobel is the youngest of the Storme cousins. She grew up in a tumultuous family situation and has always felt ignored. She wants to feel wanted, for someone to pay her some attention. Now that her bother is married to her best friend and her mother is dying, she feels even more isolated. Her answer to the problem is to ride the edge of scandal. She decides to seduce Dr. Royce Marsden. The two of them met at the Storme family Christmastide house party. Royce is a doctor dedicated to the care of wounded and trouble former soldiers. He is also heir to the Earl of Worchester. They are soon engaged in a secret sizzling affair. Then things happen in rather rapid succession that cause them to question their relationship. Can their feelings (although they both deny them) survive the changes that neither of them wants and neither is prepared for? This is truly an emotional rollercoaster, not just for the main characters, but for both the Storme and Marsden families. Isobel and Royce are surrounded by people who care for them as they move, hopefully, to a happy ending. A passionate story with engaging characters, a good read.

Lady Isobel Storme finds herself getting lost among the emotions of her family. She always seems to be invisible. Now her mother is dying and Isobel just can't find a balance. Courting scandal is a good way to gain attention.
Doctor Royce Marsden is dedicated to his work, but as the eldest son of an Earl he knows that eventually he will have to leave it behind. The title demands certain expectations.
This series is about a family that certainly live up to their names. If you get caught in a Storme, you either hide from it or see it through.
You don't need to have read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. The characters in this series are all great fun. I'm thinking there might just be one more Storme to come.
I loved it.

I feel terrible for giving this book a bad review, but I just couldn't get into it. This was only the second book in this series that I have read - I really liked The Sting of a Storme so my expectations may have been a little high coming in. My biggest problem with this book was Isobel - I disliked her from the beginning and she never grew on me. I found her to be a selfish, spoiled brat. The author tries to give some reasoning for her attention-seeking behaviors and the natural instinct is to feel bad for her, but then she makes it clear that she doesn't care at all for how her actions may impact those around her. She claims to hate the "ton" but doesn't mind all the advantages being a part of it gives to her. If she really never wanted to marry someone with a title why does she only socialize with men who have one? And she's so manipulative with Royce at the beginning - I really wish he had called her bluff and not given into her so easily. That said, I did like the moments where Royce pointed out how hypocritical she was, not that it did any good in changing her behavior. My fear for them as a couple is that she will go back to her attention seeking ways as soon as Royce becomes busy with the clinic or his duties as an earl and no longer dotes on her like she feels he should. But who knows, maybe the baby will make her less selfish. I was disappointed with this book, but not enough to give up on this author. Even with the problems with the character of Isobel the writing is good and most of the characters are interesting. 2.5 stars

INCREDIBLE!!!! The Touch of a Storme by Sandra Sookoo is book 5 in The Storme Brothers series and what a series this is. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I am highly recommending you read the other Storme Brothers stories. They are so worth reading. Sandra has created a family that definitely has flaws and this story I can relate to. She is one of the best authors of today and her writing just keeps getting better and better. This stories is original, you get the real feel of the regency era, the descriptions are very vivid and very emotional. Her imagination just blows me away. I am always wondering where she comes up with these stories. This story has a very scandalous lady, a doctor that is in line for the Earldom, not wanting to marry, being the youngest and forgotten, a dying mother, not wanting to marry a titled gentleman, an accident, injury, secret rendezvous, a caring family, lectures, desire, needing someone like a drug and falling in love. This book has it all and I am highly recommending you read it. It really was INCREDIBLE!!!

Lady Isobel Storme is not happy. Her mother is dying, and she feels invisible. Nothing seems to make her happy and all she accomplishes is providing gossip for the society pages. Of course, that makes her brothers upset with her and desperate to help. But that only makes it worse. Doctor Royce Marsden is the eldest son of an Earl, and he realizes that one day he will be faced with a decision. Help people or serve the title. Never did he think that he might have feelings brewing for Lady Isobel. Her brothers ask for help with her situation, as he is single and attends the same functions as Isobel. So, their adventure begins.

Another Storme is brewing and it might just get out of hand!

As the youngest, Isobel has always lacked attention in her crazy family. It seems she is getting a little pressure from her brothers to marry, and with her mother ill, she cannot help herself but to become scandalous.

Luckily she focuses her attentions on Dr Royce, who is not titled and does not plan to marry someone in society. He cannot resist Isobel.

But things change and he is suddenly thrust into the title when his father passes away... What will happen now? A journey to find true love, if only they will give in!

There is a world of emotions inside a Stome! Isabel Storme has always gone against the grain. She thrives on daring & scandal. As the rest of her family is mostly happily settled and married, she finds herself feeling lost & invisible. So she sets out to cause scandal to force their notice. With her mother dying, she is even more lost and longs for that connection with another. Despite vowing never to marry or love, fearing that is what tore her family apart, she embarks on an affair with Doctor Royce Marsden. She pushes him to take risks. But she cannot fall for the man as she has sworn to avoid men of title, blaming the strictures of society for her family’s woes. But very Storme comes with wild emotions, and she can’t hide from those growing feelings. Both torn with misconceptions on what they want, not trusting their own hearts, they must battle the Storme to find happiness,
I loved the underlying theme in this story. No matter how bad the storm may be, it can be weathered when surrounded by those you love! Sandra Sookoo blends feeling and words to paint a beautiful picture of the power of love.

Isobel Storme is no conventional lady. Creating scandal is in her makeup. With her mother near death, she needs a release of her emotions. She seeks the man who drew her attention at Christmas-tide, Dr. Royce Marsden and entices him into an affair. Royce is the heir of an earldom. Isobel rejects the rules of society and has no desire to marry a titled gentleman. When Royce's father dies he must take his place in society as the earl. He must end the affair.... or will he? Very passionate with encounters in public places almost as if they want to be caught. WOW!

Isobel Storme is a lady adrift as the youngest in the Storme connection, she’s always fought for attention, but now that her mother is dying, she craves a distraction in the form of a scandal, and if there’s a handsome man involved, all the better as long as he doesn’t come with a title, for she despises the ton. Doctor Royce Marsden is a surgeon , also the eldest son to the Earl of Worchester, his calling and his passion is running a clinic for wounded and rejected soldiers. Though he has no plans to do the pretty in society or to court a woman, he can’t avoid that reality when his father unexpectedly dies and plunges him into the title. As passionately intense affair develops between Isobel and Royce. Free from commitment, they dance perilously close to creating the sensation Isobel has always wanted.
This is the fifth Storme to have their story & it could be read on its own. I think this is my least favourite of the series as I couldn’t warm to Isobel at all & her behaviour for the time would have had her banished from society. The more I read the more I disliked her & whilst I believed that she & Royce were in lust I didn't believe that they were in love. I did really like Royce but he certainly wasn't lead by his head! It was an interesting read, I loved catching up with the other members of the family & found the book well written, I just disliked the heroine
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
