Major is a small town deputy who just wants to take care of his dad and his dog. As he gets multiple blind dates of the community tries to marry him off. Brynn is a B list actress that’s not even sure if acting is what she really wants to do in life. The meet cute of the girl rescuing the boy made me giggle. I like that they learn to be themselves with each other organically. I wanted to yell at Brynn a few times with how her family treated her. Small town romance means fun side characters that are just hilarious.

I enjoyed this romance and recommend it. It is a good YA book as well as older adults. I look forward to more of her works.

Hilarious Steamy Read!

This was a hilarious steamy read that I could not put down!

Brynn and Major’s story gave me all the feels. I loved the chemistry between these two! Pulled me in from page one!

What an absolutely beautiful story!

No spoilers with my review! This is a must read for 2022!

Overall I give this book 5 golden stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a lovely if slightly trite romance novel. A beautiful but naive Hollywood starlet falls for the morally uptight deputy and shenanigans ensue. A rich cast of characters and well imagined setting saved this one for me.

Hello

Apologies for the late notice, but I have decided not to review this title.

While I am certain it's obvious by now, I wanted to also clear this off NetGalley, so it's not showing as open for either of us.

I look forward to continuing to work with you in 2023 and beyond.

This is a first for me of the series (and now I'll need to go back and read the first four in the series!) and I was instantly hooked! Lexi Blake creates such a full-bodied environment that you will find yourself unable to put the book down until you're finished.

Brynn and Major are both well-developed characters who were incredibly fun to read and fall in love with while they were busy falling in love! I was in tears (good, laughing tears!) at several moments and adored how their path to love was a bit outside of the box for each of them. It proves my personal belief that the best things always happen when we're not looking and when we least expect it.

I felt the weight Brynn carried in regard to her career and her need for pleasing others. It was divine alignment of her being in town and meeting Major. In finding herself, she discovered so much more than she could have ever imagined. Major also carries around a lot of responsibility (that isn't necessarily his to be carrying....but that heart can't help itself!). His transformation is equally satisfying.

While there are complications that Lexi Blake does a phenomenal job at weaving into the story, this isn't a heavy read and extremely charismatic. It will leave you with a smile and happy heart!

This is a heartwarming tale. Very different from other series by this author, but no less engaging.

I really enjoyed the character development; the organic relationship growth ; the humour.

Dreamy escapism. Ideal holiday read

Small town living is a lot…a lot of fun, a lot of gossip, a lot of nosy citizens and a cool place to visit. Butterfly Bayou gets a visit from Hollywood in this story so the crazies keep on coming! Brynn is a sweet young actress who’s down to earth and adorable. Major starts out as a grumbly guy but really is just a guy dealing with some personal issues. He’s really a sweetheart with a big heart and an adorable dog. Their meet-cute had me laughing and it just seemed so fitting for their personalities.
The issues start when that encounter goes viral and Brynn’s momster…um, mother/agent comes to town. Yikes, what a piece of work this one is. Any time she was on page, the Wicked Witch of the West theme played in me head! And while I understand that characters get redeemed in romance books, I often think their road to forgiveness isn’t as rocky as it deserves to be. Momma Pearson is one of those.
Major and Brynn had chemistry galore, but they also had a caring friendship almost right from the start. The conflict and angst was primarily from outside forces but stubbornness from within causes misunderstandings, not enough communication and some harsh words. There wasn’t as much steam as I thought there would be, which is not a complaint, just an observation. It’s by no means a “sweet” romance, just a lower heat scale than some by Ms. Blake.
I love going back to the bayou and enjoy every visit I make…and then can’t wait to go back again soon!

Reading the Butterfly Bayou series by Lexi Blake is like eating my favorite comfort food. It just makes me happy. A wonderful romance between two extremely likeable characters is at the center of Butterfly Sweetheart. In addition, Lexi does an admirable job of weaving in the ravages of dementia on both the victim and their loved ones. I was deeply moved by several scenes and conversations about this disease.

The good, the bad and the ugly of Hollywood and the film industry come to Papillion in the form of a movie crew, a stage mom/manager on steroids, a younger sister who is bratty and jealous with
no filters and of course the ever present gossip mongers looking for anything that even remotely smells like a scandal. Of course, Papillion's eccentric and somewhat wacky inhabitants plus a band of raccoon thieves whose leader is named Brian add just the right touches of humor to the chaos. Count on Otis to make an appearance or two.

Being stuck in the mud and then losing one's pants while being rescued is not the ideal way to meet a beautiful woman. But that's the way Major Blanchard meets Brynn Pearson. Having a video of encounter go viral certainly makes for tabloid fodder especially when Brynn (known as Bria Knight professionally) is the rescuer. After their inauspicious start Brynn and Major hit it off spectacularly. With her, he finds a modicum of peace that has been missing from his life since his dad's dementia set in. His laid back attitude and cool demeanor even in the face of a demanding mother give Brynn the chance to relax and just "be" even if for only a few hours. When the stuff hits the proverbial fan, the crisis mode that Brynn has to be in 24/7 has her rethinking and reexamining her priorities. How can you look to the future when the obligations of the present are dragging you down? Yes there are missteps, miscommunications, hurt feeling and apologies. Afterall, love can be messy.

Where has this series been all my life? ;)

I absolutely loved Brynn and Major's book! It was quirky and funny and swoony and OMG had me sobbing not once but twice while reading it. And then snort laughing when I got a look at the author's note at the end.

Watching Brynn and Major fall for each other, learn to trust, and figure out their lives and their relationship was absolutely lovely. And there's dogs, trash pandas, and a tighty-whitey video of our hero that may or may not go viral. And the secondary characters? OMG. Major's dad and friends and coworkers were wonderful from the get-go; Brynn's mom and sister and stand-in dad had their moments early on but managed to redeem themselves by the end.

And don't get me started on that ending...1000% swoon-worthy!

This is the fifth book in the series, but it worked just fine as a standalone. However, it was also so delightful that I am now questioning the life choices that I have made thus far that caused me to not have read books 1-4 yet...better late than never, surely?

Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A

I adore this series. It is so sweet and I love all the characters of this quirky town of Papillon. Major Blanchard & Brynn Pearson are perfect. I loved both of them from their first interaction which was so charming and sweet.

There is something that I just adore about this series and can't wait for more.

3.5 stars

Lexi Blake does it again with another happily ever after achieved through great obstacles and twists and turns. Not only is she an incredibly talented author, but she writes the most heart warming series of epic love stories. Love her and would definitely recommend her.

This was an enjoyable read. Brynn is at a crossroads in her life and being in Papillion is making her face her choices faster than planned. Brynn has let her mother dictate her career since she was child but she yearns for something more. Family is what you choose to make . Major never expected the feelings and sense of home that Brynn invoked in him. Brynn never expected Major and this story proves that life can be messy but how you live it is what counts.

This was a sweet fun read. I haven’t laughed out loud that much while reading a book in a long time. Major is part of the local sheriffs department and is caring for his father. Brynn has been a actress all her life and is in town to film a movie. Brynn and Majors first meeting was hysterical and a great first impression for both of them! As these two get to know each other they have some tricky situations to get past. Holy cow was this town nosy, funny and loud. Between the small town gossip, both of their families and the adorable dogs there is a lot going on in this book. I enjoyed The fast paced writing and quick humor. This series has been so fun to read and I can’t Wait to see what’s to come!

This was such a cute read. A small town/grumpy and sunshine romance about a Hollywood actress and a cop that made me smile the whole way through. Four stars

This is a really great book and worth re reading. I wasn’t prepared to cry so much , it’s an emotional journey. Loved the heat level between Brynne and Major. Loved the town of Papillon and how at peace Brynne is feeling. Does sh3 want to quit being an actress and become an artist? Will Major actually listen to what his Dad wants? I really felt for these characters and happy they get get a very happy ever after. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

I just love this series! And a series that each book can be read as a stand alone. A different couple is introduced with each book. This was Major and Brynn’s book. The way these two met was hilarious. You’ll have to read it to find out, I don’t want to give it away. Brynn just wants to live a normal life. But she’s in the spotlight and that’s not always easy to do. Major doesn’t want to be alone. He only has his dad left and there are some days that he doesn’t. When Brynn and Major begin seeing one another, she is his light and he is her normal. They have great chemistry too. There’s some great banter in this book. Lots of nosy neighbors and friends. A meddling mother and so many more. Just can’t say enough about this book. A definite must read.

In ‘Bayou Sweetheart’ we meet Major and Brynn. Major is a deputy in the small town where his father is living. Since his father is the only family Major has left, he is determined to make the best of his new life. And since he is getting older, it’s time to find a woman to spend his days with. But this is not an easy task. One morning he accidentally comes across Brynn. At first Brynn seems to be this perfect down to earth girl, but soon Major finds out she is an Actress at the start of a major breakthrough in her career.

‘Bayou Sweetheart’ was definitely an entertaining read. The two main characters Major and Brynn couldn’t be more different. Major is this ‘normal’ guy looking for someone to spend his life with and to take care of his father. And Brynn is this child star who doesn’t know anything except be an actress. Slowly on she starts to realize she might want something different, but this will disappoint a lot of people.. so she keeps going.

The romance between Major and Brynn was pretty instant, and I definitely didn’t really ‘feel’ it in the beginning. The best part to me was the fact that this book contained some very funny moments. For starters the moment where Major and Brynn meet. This made me laugh out loud.

There also was a lot of going back and forth between the two main characters and it really took me a while to enjoy this story. Luckily in the end it got better. But overall this book wasn’t really for me.
