Bold, ballsy and action-packed, gangland thriller fans will not want to miss the gritty and gripping new novel by Kerry Kaya: The Reckoning.

Former top dog Danny McKay left his life of crime behind – or so he thinks. Having turned his back on his old way of life, all Danny wants now is to remain on the straight and narrow and to provide for his family without breaking the law. Danny is only interested in having a quiet life and is certainly not planning on being sucked back into the criminal underbelly that had once been his domain, but when events spiral out of control, he finds himself with no other alternative but to return to the world he had left behind.

Desperate for vengeance and determined to avenge the harm done to his family, Danny will not rest until he’s achieved his aim. But a lot has changed since he last ruled the roost. With nobody to trust and danger round every corner, Danny is all on his own. Yet, he refuses to be deterred. Nobody is going to stop him from righting old wrongs and destroying those who had dared to cross him. But Danny’s actions could end up costing him dear and he could stand to lose everything – and everyone – he cares about.

Danny was once the top dog, but the rules of the game have changed. Can he triumph against adversity this time around? Or is he on a losing streak that will lead to his own destruction?

Kerry Kaya’s The Reckoning packs plenty of punch and will leave readers on the edge of their seats and with their jaws on the floor reeling from shock after shock and twist after twist. Perfect for Kimberley Chambers fans, The Reckoning is a captivating gangland thriller about family bonds, desperate vengeance and dangerous alliances that is fast-paced, chilling and hard to put down.

The Reckoning by Kerry Kaya is the forth book in the Carter Brothers series and i have never read any of these books within this series but I found it a good read and really enjoyed it, so I did not need to worry on reading the other three books.

I highly recommend this book and looking forward to read more by Kerry. I loved it.

Big thank you to Kerry Kaya and Rachel's Random Resources for my ARC for a review.

Well Kerry Kaya you've knocked my socks off with this one.

What a fantastic series this is.
Book number 4 finds Danny Mckay once living the gangland life retired and very much enjoying family life. He adores his twins Lexi and Logan. So when Lexi gets accidentally shot at her 18th birthday being held at Danny's club he immediately is on the warpath looking for the culprit and catapulted back into the gangland life with his old allies The Carter brothers.
His fiance Maria is a nightmare demanding money and a wedding date. The twins hate her.
His best friend and partner in the club Moray discovers somebody wants him dead but who?

This book is gritty, fast, and breathtaking.
What more can you ask for,
Thank you so much, NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this excellent book. xx

Kerry Kaya just gets better and better with every book. I do love a bit of gangland and this has completely immersed me.

This is a brilliant fast paced read that will make you want more. This is well plotted with a great mixture of characters.

Danny McKay is looking forward to a birthday party, only it doesn’t go as planned and the bullet meant for him, hits someone close.

I love how Kaya writes and have not been disappointed by this absolute gem. Kerry Kaya is a queen and I have devoured page after page of this one.

I have been a fan of Kerry’s work for a while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written which is something I hope to rectify sooner rather than later. I read the synopsis for ‘The Reckoning’ and it certainly sounded like another amazing read from Kerry. Well it was all that and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Reckoning’ but more about that in a bit.
‘The Reckoning’ is the fourth book in the series featuring the Carter brothers. It took no time at all to get into ‘The Reckoning’. In fact by the time I got to the end of the synopsis I knew that was reading something special and that I would find it nigh on impossible to put this book to one side for any length of time. So it proved to be. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. I was intrigued by the characters and by the storylines. I had my own theories as to what was going to happen so I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down the wrong path. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘The Reckoning’ and I had to say goodbye to the Carter brothers and the other characters. ‘The Reckoning’ is a tense and gripping tale, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat.
‘The Reckoning’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Kerry Kaya. Kerry has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. Kerry describes the characters so vividly and so realistically that they seem just as real as you and I. Reading ‘The Reckoning’ felt like being on an at times scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. I love the way in which Kerry makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Reckoning’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Kerry’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Bok Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Crikey The Reckoning comes out fighting right from the first word. It completely took my breathe away. The characters are written in a totally believable way. They are tough and there is violence abound but nothing feels unrealistic. This is a tale of every action has a consequence and dire consequences at that.

Danny is a distinguished man who has left the gangland world behind. Now running his club with his best friend, Moray he is happy with the quiet life until his world is literally blown apart, vengeance is on his mind and he’ll stop at nothing to get it. Being dragged back into the old life is not something he wants to do but even he can’t hide the fact that actually he gets a bit of a thrill being in charge again.

The two women in Danny’s life, apart from his daughter are like chalk and cheese. Will he ever see that one of them is most definitely the right woman for him? The other is oh so wrong!

The Reckoning is a thrilling read that keeps you interested right to the end. A true gangland crime book with feuds and family splits all over the shop. It is fast paced and written with a fabulous style that brings the characters and their actions to life. Will Danny get his hands on the culprit? Will he get the revenge that he needs? Quite honestly this book is epic, you really need to grab a copy and be prepared for an action packed experience. You won’t regret it.

The Reckoning by Kerry Kaya is the fourth book in this series but reads just fine as a standalone! This is my first read by Kerry Kaya and I’m impressed! It doesn’t get much better than what this author has created when it comes to gangland thrillers!

Kerry Kaya puts the reader right into the depths of the dangerous world of gang crime. Danny is the perfect main character. While trying to move on with his life, his past doesn’t let him go completely. I enjoyed the way the tension built and built until it was at its boiling point.

It was difficult to tell who was being honest and who wasn’t, which kept the suspense up for me. It was interesting to get a look inside the respect and loyalty of gang crime and their ideals.

Overall, this was a fantastic gangland thriller that I would definitely recommend!

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources, the author, and the publisher for the free review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

My Thoughts:
A really Big twist happens in Danny’s life when he try’s to change it for the better But While he’s throwing a Birthday party for his daughter all heck breaks out so is Danny’s life going to change again you need to read this to find out. If you can I recommend reading this whole series however each book can be read as standalones. I really enjoyed reading this gangland series thank you Kerry Kaya for writing this enjoyable series I hate to see it end

This is the 4th book in this series and it does read well as a standalone as this is the first book I've read in this series. I have, however, read other books by this author and she writes some cracking g gangland thrillers.

Danny has been out of the crime and gang lifestyle for several years. He is a legit businessman and wants to remain that way. His daughter is celebrating her 18th birthday when there is a shooting. Due to his past, Danny tho is this may be linked to him. But who, why and what for is what takes some working out.

The author has created another fabulous read and one that definitely drops you into the murky and dangerous world of gangs and crime. Even though Danny has a past that he has put behind him, it still runs in his blood. The author gradually brings his older acquaintances to the fore didn't and things become tense and full. of suspense. Throughout this story there is never a straightforward answer..people are out for themselves and are trying to keep out of trouble.

I like how the author twists and weaves the character and the storyline. Never knowing who is telling the truth or what their motives keep the suspense up right the way through. Even though the topic is gang crime there is a good amount of loyalty and respect. Having different generations, younger and old school is a great way of showing the different ideals. The impatience is shown and lack of experience is evident as are ideals. While they may not always be legal they certainly make for great reading.

If you are a fan of gangland crime thrillers then this is an author you should keep an eye for. This book is a so fearful twisted read, delving into family loyalties. This isn't too blood and gutsy but there is some violence. I really enjoyed this one and I would definitely recommend it.

Wow as always another gripping read that you won’t want to put down. Even though Danny and Moray have decided on the legitimate business scene now there are still lots of plots and twists and turns along the way. Loyalties are pushed to the very limit in this book. Book four in the series which just keeps getting better. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big fan of Kerry Kaya having read all her other books which are fantastic. I believe that Kerry is the next Queen of Gangland. However, I thought this book was not quite as good as the rest. I just thought something was lacking? Still, a recommended read.

This is the first Kerry Kaya book that I’ve read but it certainly won’t be the last! It follows the gangland life of Danny McKay, his family and associates. After an ‘event’ at the 18th birthday party for his daughter Lexi all hell breaks loose and people are out for revenge, with old grievances brought to the fore.. Gripping, fast paced and with some really believable characters. I also liked how the women were depicted. Some strong and holding their own especially in the case of Stacey Carter. The violence wasn’t too graphic, leaving lots to the imagination. I don’t want to give too much away but I think that anyone who likes this genre will not be disappointed in this.
Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC

This is the 4th book in the series and everyone has had me gripped from beginning to end. The plot is brilliant and all the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. I read this book in one sitting as I could not put it down.

Kerry in my opinion is up there with the best gangland thriller book writers; Kimberley Chambers, Casey Keller and Martina Cole.

I have read all Kerry’s books and she never fails to disappoint. if you love gangland then this book is for you, but start from the 1st book

The Reckoning is the 4th book in the Carter brothers series, and each book has lured me in with a gripping plot line. One of my favourite genres is gangland crime thrillers, and Kerry Kaya is my new ‘go to’ author. Her gritty crime thrillers pull no punches, there raw and authentic. Kaya’s writing has been compared to that of Kimberley Chambers and Martina Cole. There are some similarities, but personally I feel the author has her own unique voice, which brings her books to life.

Danny McKay has left the gangster life behind, but past grudges surface and when Danny and his family are caught up in a shocking event, he’s dragged back into the gangland world he’s left behind. Danny is determined that the people responsible pay, but the rules are different this time around. Old friends are enemies, and Danny doesn’t know who he can trust. And as Danny gets closer to the truth, he realises that the consequences of his own actions could destroy everything and everyone that he holds dear.

With many threads running through the book, there’s much to keep the readers’ attention, which makes for a fast pace, tension filled read. Alex Kaya has created characters that are vibrant and larger than life. Some you will love, others you will hate, the characters are so well developed you can’t help but invest in their life’s. The Reckoning is a story of violence, treachery, loyalty and family ties and although these are familiar themes, the author puts her own spin on them. An explosive, heart thumping finale to what has been a cracking series. Highly recommend.

This is another great story from Kerry Kaya. It's book 4 of the Carter brothers series but can easily be read as a stand alone. I loved the cast of interesting characters, especially Danny, and the many twists in the tale. The plot was brilliant and fast paced with plenty action. This is an excellent gangland thriller which is sure to be a winner for the author and one I highly recommend. Thanks to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for my ARC.

After living a gangland life Danny McKay now lives the quite life with his family. Life is good. He is looking forward to celebrating his daughter’s Lexi’s birthday by having a party at his club. But people from his past come back to haunt him and his daughter is accidently shot. The shot that was meant for him.
The Reckoning by Kerry Kaya is the fourth book in the Carter Brothers series. I wasn’t aware of this when I requested it on NetGalley. But I needn’t have worried as I had no problem catching up in the story.
This is a great. fast paced, gangland thriller from the author and I was hooked from the first page. This is the third book from the author I have read, and she never seems to disappoint. I loved it 5 stars from me.

Another smashing instalment in this series that keeps the pace breathtakingly fast! The story is well thought out with its fair share of baddies!

Kerry Kaya’s, “The Reckoning,” is a gangland thriller, that will snag you in for a great read. Kerry Kaya does an excellent job of ramping up the tension in the story, especially at Lexi’s 18th birthday party at Moray’s and Danny’s restaurant & bar. As the reader, you will be biting your nails as Arron, Moray’s son, filled with years of hatred executes his well-planned assassination.

This story has a great plot that intertwines love, hate, and jealousy to its best. Character development is another strong point of the story. Danny’s fiancé and lover, Maria, is a great example—she adds lots of excitement!

The only negative part of the story is an editing issue: the excessive usage of “screwed up his face/screwed up her face” and “snaked his tongue across his teeth.
.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and thank Kerry Kaya, Boldwood Books, and Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book.
