This was a great beginning of a new series by Lynn Cahoon, one of my favorite cozy authors. This story is about a woman named Rarity who has opened a bookshop in Arizona. Rarity has relocated following a heartbreaking break up and surviving cancer.

Rarity has the idea to start a cancer survivor's book club, as she felt she had a different perspective on life after beating cancer that only other survivors can relate to. One of the members, Martha, seems disagreeable at the meeting and Rarity is wondering what motivated Martha to join the book club in the first place. When Martha doesn't show up the next week, but her beloved dog Killer is left home alone, suspicions arise within the club, and they start to investigate. When Martha is found dead a few days later based on a book club tip, the survivors are ready to uncover the killer.

I really enjoyed the story and the characters in the book club. I like how the book club eventually allows some new people who have not been affected by cancer into the group and that the possibility for more adventures with this crew is left open. This was a great read and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries.

My thanks to #NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

For those who like small town mysteries, this is a book for you.

I'm not the best audience for this; I'm a cancer survivor myself, and Rarity was very difficult for me to relate to given that experience. I was often excluded from groups bc I had Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and not breast cancer but as a young adult woman it was harder to find support in the NHL community so some of her actions/thoughts/words frustrated me. So I'm giving this 2.5 stars knowing Im not the audience for this but it's a good and timely mystery.

What a great start to a new series, I really like Rarity, her sweet dog, and her group of friends. As always Cahoon knows how to write a great mystery, providing just the right balance of clues & red herrings that left me guessing to the end. I also very much appreciated the unique flavor of the Sedona, AZ setting. Be aware the MC’s a cancer survivor, so treatments, side effects and death are brought up but don’t overshadow the overall story. Oh and there’s a scrumptious cake recipe included. YUM! This is the first in the new Survivors' Book Club Mystery series and I can’t wait for what comes next.

I received this eARC thanks to NetGalley and Kensington in exchange for an honest review.

My first time reading a book by Lynn Cahoon was a pleasant one. The first in a cosy-mystery series, the main character, Rarity Jones is a breast cancer survivor who is making a fresh start. She has moved closer to her best friend Sam in Sedona, NM, and opened a bookstore aptly name The Next Chapter. Her cancer survivor’s book club quickly becomes a sleuthing club, more focused on finding the answers to a real-life mystery than the ones between the pages of their books. A bit of romance and a well rounded cast of characters kept my interest in this light mystery. Sedona and it’s “vortexes” seems to be a hub for every kind of alternative healing which makes it a natural setting for those battling illnesses and the scammers who’s only goal is to take advantage of the vulnerable. Sounds like the perfect setting for many more mysteries. Unfortunately, many of these healings are based on the paranormal so I won’t be following this series.
Thanks NetGalley for this free copy in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed The Tuesday Night Survivors' Club, by Lynn Cahoon. I am not a cancer survivor, but I love books and mysteries, and I am interested in the kinds of charlatans who prey upon cancer patients. The plotting was nicely done and the characters were well defined and interesting, and I love dogs. Although I was pretty sure that I knew who the murderer was, and I was correct, I still enjoyed how the plot unfolded.

My only problem was the romantic lead, and I am sure I am not alone in feeling this way. The male protagonist we get to know best should, at least in most plotting, belong with the female protagonist, whom we get to know best. That part did not work as well for me. But I did enjoyed this novel. Thank you to the author and publisher for this ARC. And that thank you to NetGalley for introducing me to another author, who I will be following in the future.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of The Tuesday Night Survivors' Club by Lynn Cahoon. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington Books for providing an ARC to review.

Survivors become sleuths to find a missing member of their book club in new-age Sedona, New Mexico.

In theory, this is the type of book I gravitate towards. It has a new person in town that opens a bookshop, and murders ensue. There is a friend group also supporting each other and solving crimes. But despite having all the tropes I love in a cozy mystery, I found myself unable to connect with the characters. The one highlight was the cute dog "Killer" which brought some much-needed energy to the story. I loved the addition.

When a member of a newly formed cancer survivors’ book club goes missing, the rest of the group works together to solve the mystery.
Although the main character’s name is Rarity, this is a very mundane mystery. I’ve never read Lynn Cahoon before so I can’t tell if the writing style is normal for her or if this book needs some serious editing. The writing was very generic except for the fact that nearly every vehicle was a Jeep. There was not a single author name or book title even though it’s largely set in a book store. The flow of dialogue felt unnatural and stiff and almost no emotion was conveyed so when anyone said they were upset or angry I was surprised, especially when Sam was so upset about Rarity’s friendship with Drew.
The story wrapped up entirely too quickly with the killer confessing for absolutely no reason. All in all, this book was just fine. I would only recommend it to those who like cozy mysteries and who want a palate cleanser.

Loved it?! Survivors becoming sleuths. Rarity sets up a book club for cancer survivors in her newly opened bookstore. As her membership grows slowly and rules are set for book discussion, one member disappears. The group sets out to track down the missing member and the local cop starts talking to Rarity. The missing member is found dead and now the book club members are determined to find the killer. I thought this was a great cozy mystery read and look forward to more books in the series.

Good solid mystery! Rarity, a cancer survivor, moves to Sedona Arizona to open a book store. When a member of the book club becomes missing, it's up to the club members to find out what's going on. Great characters with lots of twists and turns. Thanks #netgalley and #Keningston for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Lynn Cahoon’s new series, A Survivors’ Book Club Mystery, features a group of cancer survivors who also engage in sleuthing when one of their own is murdered. Cancer survivor Rarity Cole moves to Sedona and opens The Next Chapter, a new bookstore located downtown. Rarity starts a Tuesday Night Survivors Club, and when one of the members, Martha, disappears, an exhaustive search finds her dead body after a few days. Police determine it is murder and the other club members decide to investigate.

Ms. Cahoon writes a well-conceived mystery with engaging characters and nicely paced suspense.

This is a fantastic mystery and the debut book in cozy author Lynn Cahoon's The Tuesday Night Survivors Club mystery series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this new series. My review opinion is my own.

Right away I liked Rarity our protagnist. Rarity is a cancer survivor and a believer in starting over. She has relocated to beautiful Sedona Arizona to live near her best friend and open a unique bookstore. Her bookstore focus is on healing, meditation and holistic treatments . The store is quickly popular with the locals and Rarity is enjoying her new life and profession. She decides to start a survivors book club at her store. Soon the book club has multiple members and the women become fast friends sharing their cancer survivor stories with each other as well as books. When their most contentious member disappears they look for clues and soon find her missing vehicle. The club is on the case and as the red herrings abound they soon find looking for clues may be dangerous.

I loved the well crafted story and sleuth that kept me guessing to conclusion. The charcters are richly drawn and perfect for the series. I look forward to the next in series. Very well done to the author.

The Tuesday Night Survivor’s Club (Book #1) (Lynn Cahoon) (6/14/22)

Rarity Cole is a recent breast cancer survivor who relocated from St. Louis to Sedona, Arizona where she opened an independent bookstore. She forms a Survivor’s Club book club, where women who have survived breast cancer can meet to share their life experiences as well as discuss books. After a couple of meetings, the Survivor’s Club becomes the sleuthing club, when club member Martha goes missing and is later found murdered.

A wide-ranging cast of supporting characters include best friend/fellow business owner Sam, police officer Drew, local tour guide operator Archer, and as well as the other book club members. Rarity also explores a potential love interest. I cannot wait to see how the characters are further developed as the books progress. If you love Lynn Cahoon, Tourist Trap/South Cove series like I do, you do not want to miss this new series, which starts with The Tuesday Night Survivor’s Club. It is released on June 14, 2022.

I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Rarity Cole just went through breast cancer treatment and is in remission. She decides to change her life and she moves to where her best friend lives and works and opens up a bookshop that focuses on healing, meditation, support groups, etc. When she opens up her bookshop, she decides to start a Tuesday Night Survivors book club. This book club would have members that survive cancer. The first meeting just Shirley shows up but the second meeting she has 5 show up to it. They discuss their treatments plus which book to read. Suddenly Martha, one of their members, goes missing and the group decides to search for her. They ended up finding her car and called the police who found Martha murdered. The group then decides to change direction and investigate who murdered Martha plus talk about the book that they are reading that month. Will this group find out who murdered Martha, will they get into trouble with the police and what happens when one of their group is threatened? Read this book to find out what happens to Rarity’s Tuesday Night Survivors’ Club in this great cozy mystery. Cahoon put in some great red herrings and twists to keep you reading and trying to solve this mystery.

Lynn Cahoon is a prolific cozy mystery writer with many series. This brand new series centers around new bookstore owner Rarity Cole, also a cancer survivor. She starts a book club for survivors that also includes her best friend and another woman still going through treatment. After the first night one of the women is killed and the book club decide to find out who killed her.
A good start to a fresh series with interesting main characters, and an interesting plot that centers around immoral who prey on cancer patients with charlatan methods.

THE TUESDAY NIGHT SURVIVORS' CLUB (SURVIVORS' BOOK CLUB MYSTERY #1)
BY: LYNN CAHOON

What a lovely and warm cozy mystery story this turned out to be. As I started writing my review I saw the wonderful surprise that following this amazing reading experience I won't be saying goodbye to I hope most of the characters', as this I have just discovered is #1 to this fantastic new series. What a better setting for this cozy mystery than in a bookstore in picturesque Sedona. In my vision of Sedona, I imagine lemony yellow and bright sunshine and my favorite hot weather. I just might love to live there myself or at least take a vacation there to find out if it is as quaint as the descriptions were while I immensely enjoyed this. I loved all of the characters' as they are all extremely likable. I wish that the book club featured were in my community because it would be my pleasure to join them.

Rarity Cole is new to Sedona having moved from St. Louis and she opened her new bookstore, called the Next Chapter Bookstore. Right away she decides to form a book club which is filled with Cancer survivors'. Her new best friend owns a shop right besides hers named Samantha who sells healing crystals and Sam becomes a member even though she never had cancer of any kind. On the first night of the book club one person arrives, but she is friendly and both her and Rarity have high hopes the next meeting will draw more members and it does. There is a round robin where they all go around their group and are introducing themselves when one grumpy new addition to the club named Martha doesn't want to share any of her personal business and she is the one who goes missing.

Rarity had suggested that they all take the bookstore's phone number and she asks for the other members contact information and soon all of them exchange phone numbers with a friendly group member. This is in case a member of the book club can't make it for any reason so the rest of the book club doesn't worry about a member who fails to show up.
Rarity goes for a hike with Sam and she meets the detective's parents. The only detective assigned to the case is Drew whose parents' Rarity has already met. Her book club takes it upon themselves with Rarity and Sam being the main sleuth's and Rarity gives tips to Drew who is investigating what happened to Martha.

Rarity asks Drew to drop off Martha's dog to her for her to take care of while the search for Martha takes place. The dog is an affectionate Yorkshire Terrier named Killer. I know! What kind of name is that for an intuitive friendly adorable little pet.

I just adored this cozy mystery with the charming setting with a well meaning cast of characters where everyone is kind. This has become my new favorite series and I am looking forward to the next one as I enjoyed spending time with all of these characters. There is a bonus with a recipe of a rich chocolate cake with chocolate glaze. There was so much talk of delicious snacks I am eating chocolate truffles as I type my review and it's morning. I highly, highly recommend adding this delightful novel on your to be read list. It is a light, quick and fun easy read that isn't graphic and won't give you nightmares. It is a cozy mystery that is full of heart.

This is a solid first book in a new series.
The premise of a cancer support book club was written with respect and insight.
The whodunit was well paced and kept me guessing.
The characters were interesting and full of personality.
I look forward to future books in this series.

The Tuesday Night Survivors' Club started out as a book group, but as the story progresses, the members become friends. They also become involved in the search for a murderer when one of the original members suddenly disappears.
The story progresses at a comfortable pace for casual reading. However, even though I took a short break, the characters and plot carries nicely and I was able to jump right back into the story without the need to "go back a few pages and find the thread of the plot."

This is a fun cozy mystery. But more, it is about a group of cancer survivors and is written by a cancer survivor. Thus the voices of the characters rang true. It never got maudlin (Thank you Ms Cahoon.)

I think it is a good read for anyone who enjoys a cozy mystery.

Rarity is beginning anew as a bookstore owner and cancer survivor in Arizona when one of her book club members is found murdered. While Rarity and her good friend, Sam, investigate, Drew, the local detective, tries to discourage them from being involved. I really enjoyed meeting these characters and I hope Lynn Cahoon has more adventures planned for them.
