Blood Pact is the 4th book in the Gallowburn series they're set in Glasgow Scotland and I have to say it's equally as good as the others. As with every other Heather Atkinson book I've had I read it in one sitting! I cleared the decks, got myself set up with a cuppa some chocolate, my blanket in my reading corner and away I went.

We pick the story up more or less where it left off, with IMHO which is always good. Now the boys are valuable assets for Toni McVay, having made Gallowburn their own they protect it swiftly and fiercely from rival gangs. Let me tell you these young men are definitely not 4 wee NEDS out and about raising hell for the sake of it. All of them work hard to keep the peace so that the deals keep happening and the money keeps coming in, after all if Toni is unhappy with peoples performances she has her own unique way of punishing those foolish enough to upset her.

We join Jamie (leader) and the boys at a time when things are running smoothly and then suddenly they aren't. Cameron Abernathy (always makes me think of the biscuits) is Jamies nemesis, he's also the father of Allegra, the love of his life. Sitting in Prison Cameron has plenty time on his hands to cause trouble for Jamie starting with sneaking a few scrotes into Gallowburn whilst at the same time searching for his daughter, here's hoping he never catches up with her.

As we read we learn that Jamie has reached a point in his life that he needs to finally make the big decision that's been lingering in the background for the last wee while. In the immortal song lyrics go "should I stay or should I go now"! No spoilers here haha. I liked the way that the boys are happy (almost) they just want him to be happy, safe and well.

I always enjoy a Heather Atkinson book and I've read virtually all of her work, just a couple to catch up with, I started with the Dividing Lines series then gradually read the others. If you enjoy authors who write gangland thriller style books such as Emmy Ellis, Alex Kane and Owen Mulllen then do yourself a good turn and pick up one of this authors books. I'm rather envious as you have a decent size back catalogue of this genre to catch up with,

Thanks to the author Ms Atkinson, #Netgalley and Boldwood Books. All opinions are mine and mine alone.

The opening instalment of Heather Atkinson’s Gallowburn series of crime novels, ‘Blood Brothers’, came out in December 2020. When I reviewed it, I noted that her publisher – Boldwood Books – were an interesting independent publisher making some interesting moves and that Atkinson was definitely one to watch.

I think by now, she must be a jewel in the crown.

Atkinson writes fast: usually people see this as a negative but in her case this is the fourth instalment in the series in just two years. Producing novels at a rate of one every six months is some going.

And clearly, you would expect a diminution in quality – but Atkinson is not declining. The dialogue is still punchy, the punches are still punchy as well and she lays the pipe of plot with aplomb.

Characters from previous novels, events which took place in seemingly insignificant moments in earlier books, are all threaded through the story.

It is, in the best sense of the word, like a soap opera. By now, we know the Blood Brothers, we know their families – we also know their enemies and the danger they are in as the Gallowburn estate remains as treacherous as ever to navigate.

For authentic Glasgow gangsters, crunching action and a sense of stepping back into a comfortable set of characters it’s a pleasure to revisit, readers will be very satisfied.

An action-packed gritty gangland thriller that will leave readers breathless, Blood Pact is Heather Atkinson’s latest nail-biting chiller.

Having defeated their deadliest rivals, the Blood Brothers now reign supreme as lieutenants of the McVay clan. In their strong, capable and fearsome hands, the Gallowburn estate has become a fortress and an untouchable stronghold where they are the ones in charge. Feared and admired in equal measure, the Blood Brothers are relishing their power. But they should not get too comfortable because at the Gallowburn estate, you never know what’s around the corner…

Jamie’s most dangerous enemy, Cameron Abernathy is rotting away in prison. He wants to get out of jail and wreak revenge on his adversaries using any method necessary so he decides to use the Lawson family, the Blood Brothers’ biggest rivals, to discover the whereabouts of his daughter. Cameron won’t give up until he achieves all his objectives – and there is simply nothing he will not do to see the Blood Brothers eviscerated.

Jamie has some difficult choices to make. With the police getting far too close for comfort and his enemies breathing down his neck, the chance to lead the life he has always wanted is slipping away from him. He has dreams of being with the woman he loves far from all he knows, however, with danger round every corner, will he manage to make his dream a reality? Or is he about to lose it all just when everything he has always wanted was within his reach?

Heather Atkinson’s Blood Pact is dark, unpredictable, terrifying and so exciting readers will be on the edge of their seats reeling from all the twists and turns coming their way. A gangland thriller that is raw, unflinching and disturbing with larger than life characters that pole vault off the page, Blood Pact continues Heather Atkinson’s winning streak cementing her standing as one of the genre’s fastest rising stars.

Blood Pact by Heather Atkinson is the fourth book in the Gallowburn Series and where have I been? This book was an excellent read! This is a gritty and hard hitting gangland series. and I loved it. especially her writing style, all her characters were excellent. It had lots of great twists and turns throughout that just had me gripped and sitting on the edge of my chair!

This will not be the last book I will read by Heather, I recommend this book however, like me will need to go back and read the other three books to understand this series. Bit, It never put me off reading and finishing Blood Pact.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

Atkinson is a superb storyteller and you cannot help but feel hooked by these books. The characters, the plot and the way these are written will just pull you in and keep you hostage.

I absolutely adore a good gangland read and Atkinson doesn’t disappoint. This has pulled me in quickly and been a book that I have found difficult to put down.

There is so much drama, suspense and tension to unravel in this one. It makes for a gritty but exciting read which definitely doesn’t disappoint. I have loved reading this one and cannot wait to read more from this author.

If you are a lover of this genre, this is a must read.

I have been a fan of Heather’s work for a couple of years now. I have a particular fondness for the series set on the Gallowburn Estate. I read, reviewed and loved the first three books in the series. So when I heard that Heather was due to releases another book in the series, I knew that I just had to get hold of a copy as soon as I could. Well ladies and gents, the fourth book in the Gallowburn Estate series is called ‘Blood Pact’ and it was released on 5th May 2022. It’s another belter of a read and then some. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Blood Pact’ but more about that in a bit.
As soon as I started reading, I knew that I was reading something special and that I would not be able to put the book down. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I just couldn’t bear to miss a single second of the story. The characters intrigued me and some of them appalled me at the same time. I had my own suspicions as to what was going to happen so I had to keep reading to see if I was on the right track or if I had wandered down another path entirely. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the story. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Blood Pact’ and I had to say goodbye to the Gallowburn Estate. I found ‘Blood Pact’ to be a tense, gripping, gritty and dramatic read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat.
‘Blood Pact’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Heather Atkinson. She certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a compelling and at times terrifying story. For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. Heather cares about her characters and this comes across in the way she writes about them. She describes them so vividly and realistically that they seem just as real as you and I. Reading ‘Blood Pact’ felt like being on an unpredictable and scary rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. At times I almost had to read through my fingers as I feared what was going to happen next. I love the way in which Heather makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story themselves and at the heart of the action.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Blood Pact’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Heather’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

This is the 4th book in the series of the blood brothers and what a blinder it is.

Living on the Gallowburn estate the people here know they don't grass to the polis, there is little trouble as the blood brothers (Jamie, Gary, Digger, and Logan) rule and have the respect of them all.

It was like welcoming back family and friends when I opened the first page, The story was gritty and violent and I couldn't turn the pages quick enough to find out what happens next.

There were some right nasty characters involved like, Toni Mvcay the queen of gangland Glasgow who takes out and collects the eyes of anybody that crosses her, and Cameron Abernethy who is in prison for murdering his daughter Allegra who is actually alive but he can't prove it and is a violent powerful nasty piece of work.
We also meet a corrupt copper DCI Sharples who is in Abernethy's pay and does everything in his power to set up and find Allegra.

To Jackie, Jamie's mum who wacks people with her frying pan, and Ephraim the ice cream man that sells anything from his van drugs weapons, etc. but make you smile.

The book is frustrating for some of the characters but with a healthy dollop of violence and crime.
It has its comedy moment but a lot of brutalities. As a lover of gangland stories suits me perfectly.

I have so much enjoyed this series and its characters and hats off to Heather Atkinson for her talent and vision.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this excellent book. xxx

Blood Pact is the fourth book in the Gallowburn estate series and what a series this is. I absolutely love it! So has you can imagine my excitement when I found out there was a fourth book! I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into this beauty. It sure has hell doesn’t disappoint. I must point out that this book follows on from the last one, so they need to be read in order.

Blood Pact is full of grit and OMG moments. I found myself racing to the end because I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen. Would Cameron find out his daughters where about? What would happen if he did. Or would the couple get to finally be with each other……so many questions!

I love Jamie and Allegra over the series they have grown from strength to strength and I wanted them to be together has much has they did. I loved every single page of this book and the whole series. It is a must read for gangland fans.

It is a fast paced read that will have you on the edge of your seat I cannot recommend it enough!

Once again a massive thank you to Rachel Gilby for inviting me to take part on this tour……I would of never of found this author if it wasn’t for her. Also thank you to Boldwood Books for a copy all thoughts are my own and not biased in any way.

The fourth book in the Gallowburn series and I am lucky enough to have read every book. This is a gritty and hard hitting gangland series. I am so happy to be back with the Blood Brothers on the Scottish Gallowburn estate.

When I discovered there was a new book I did wonder if Heather Atkinson could keep up the standard set by the previous three books. Blood Pact is, if it is possible, even better than the previous book. I really couldn't tear myself away.

Heather's characters have grown over the series and Jamie, the complex character who is the leader of the Blood Brothers, just wants to be with Allegra, his girlfriend but that will never happen if Cameron gets his way. He is on the war path and does not care how he gets his revenge!

Part of this series charm is the banter between the Blood Brothers and that is just as good as always. Providing light moments throughout, I found my self laughing with them. I felt like I was back with the gang again, and I realise, I say this every time I review a book in this series. I just can't help it. Heather's writing makes it so you feel like you are alongside these lads as they battle their way through life on the Gallowburn estate.

A book that kept me guessing and the ending, well, that was a jaw dropping moment for me. The book is pretty fast paced and then as the story unfolds, boy does it pick up even more. I was on the edge of my seat most of this book just attempting to second guess what was coming next. Such an adrenaline inducing series this is!

The danger and violence in this series is true to life for kids these days. The gangs and the violence may seem like fiction but we see on the news almost everyday some 16 year old lad being killed. Heather Atkinson, translates true life into fiction so well and I will miss this series when it's over

Blood Pact is a belter of a book from Heather Atkinson, book 4 in the Gallowburn series. A 5* read without a doubt.

If you like Martina Cole and Kimberley Chambers you'll love Heather Atkinson's writing. The storyline is captivating, gritty, twisty and thrilling. I flew through the book and will definitely go back and read the rest of the series. Family rivalries drive the storyline and people that cross the Grays will pay dearly.

I can't recommend this book more highly - go out and buy it, you won't regret it!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

As always with an Heather Atkinson book, thoroughly enjoyed, an easy yet gripping read. Heather has the wonderful knack of being able to tell a grizzly story yet add in humour. I love the writing style of this author and I love this series. I have read a number of this authors series of books and it's so easy to fall for the characters, to become attached to them via the story. This author easy has some of the most colourful characters you'll ever meet in books.
We are back with the blood Brothers on the Gallowburn estate. The Blood Brothers were formed by 4 good friends Jamie Gray, Gary, Digger and Logan. The lads have taken control over the estate where they live. They run the estate so it's somewhere you want to live, not be driven out of.
So much has gone on over these 4 books, and I'm very wary of anything i could say giving too much away. What i will say is that to get the best out of these books, I really would read them in order. Things would make a whole lot more sense and the story will be a lot more enjoyable.
I also have to add , if you have not read any of this authors previous works, then please check out all the books she has written, you'll find yourself some amaing series of books.
First class read. Best one yet.

On the Gallowburn estate no one goes to the police – they rely on the Blood Brothers instead to sort out their problems. Living on the north side of the estate, Jamie Gray and his three friends Gary, Digger and Logan formed a gang called the Blood Brothers and have been together since their school days. Now in their twenties they have grown up fast, particularly since falling into the employ of the notorious Toni McVay, aka the Queen of Glasgow and head one of the most feared families in Scotland, anxious to please her and keep their eyeballs intact. Since the defeat of the Gordon and Thompson families, things are all nicely quiet on the Gallowburn scheme with the Blood Brothers ruling the roost. However Cameron Abernethy, framed for her murder by his own daughter and Jamie’s fiancé Allegra, will not lie down quietly in Barlinnie jail. Having failed to find her with a number of private investigators, including Gavin Mullen who fell in love with and now lives with Jamie’s mother Jackie, he has tried stirring up trouble on social media which backfired with hilarious results. When bent copper DCI Sharples visits him and offers to get the investigation opened for a hefty price he jumps at it, terrified that his former wimp of a son Fenston will push him out of his own empire. Sharples also enlists Barlinnie inmate Craig Lawson, the violent head of the south side gang and sworn enemy of the Blood Brothers to expose Jamie’s secrets. However Jamie and Mullen are too good for them and realise the Brothers are under surveillance. Toni needs Cameron to stay in jail so she can take over his businesses, and she and Jamie hatch a plan to ensure that happens whilst dealing with Sharples who has been a thorn in Toni’s side for years. All Jamie wants to do is leave Scotland and be with Allegra for life but will that ever be possible whilst keeping himself and all those he holds dear safe?
I really love this series!! Most of the brilliant characters from books one to three are still there, including my absolute favourite, the psychotic ice-cream man Ephraim with an astounding arsenal of weapons, ferocious pub landlady Deirdre and husband Eric, the superb nunchuck wielding Reverend Valerie Brown who is actually a McVay herself, and of course Jamie’s fiercely protective and loyal mother Jackie with her ever present frying pan. There is masses of thrilling action in this excellent story and I have a great affection for the boys and their families who, with their obvious loyalty and humorous banter, have really grown me. Read the books in order to get the most of out the fast-growing history of the Gallowburn residents. 5*

Blood Pact by Heather Atkinson is a thrilling, brutal story of survival. It kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. Backstabbing and enemies everywhere. What a rush!

I have enjoyed this series so much but I think this one may be my favorite. There was just something so intense about the atmosphere of this plot, I couldn’t put it down! The ending truly caught me off guard and I wasn’t expecting what happened at all.

I highly recommend reading all the books in this series because they are fantastic and because I think you’ll get more out of the story.

Fantastic. Riveting and vivid. I can’t say anything but good about this story. If you like gangland thrillers, check it out!

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources, the author, and the publisher for the free review copy. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

Well Phew what an absolute thrilling read Blood Pact is! I feel battered and bruised, like most of the characters in this book. A brutal story of survival of the fittest. There’s back stabbing aplenty with enemies around every corner. I LOVED IT!

As book 4 in the series I wasn’t sure if Heather could pull it off again but wow she pulled it off and then some. I was enthralled by Book 3 but Book 4 just blew my mind. The intensity shines out from every word and you can’t tear yourself away. The characters have grown superbly well throughout this series and Jamie has come into his own as a strong leader of the Blood Brothers. A loyal team, keeping Gallowburn a safer place to live. My favourite character though quickly became Logan, A quiet yet intelligent Blood Brother who is perhaps being lined up to take over from Jamie in the future. He is a sensitive soul who thinks before he leaps and I just really became drawn to him. The other two Blood Brothers add a brilliant level of humour and had me chuckling away with their banter and ribbing each other. I enjoyed the light and dark dark shade running through the plot and boy does it keep you on it’s toes.

The dazzling end genuinely caught me off guard and unquestionably was the best ending. Fast paced drama through out but it really picks up the pace, if that’s possible, towards the end. Jamie is totally up against it, with enemies trying to finish him off, even from inside prison. Does he really stand a chance?

Blood Brothers is a vivid and violent story of Scottish Gangland, the lives of the people involved are all damaged in one way or another and their strong will and danger radiates from each and every page. Be prepared for the read of your life, its an absolute cracking thriller and now I need a cuppa and some deep breathing.

A strong ending to a gripping series which has earned Heather Atkinson a lot of faithful fans. Born and raised on the streets of Gallowburn, a poverty-stricken housing estate on the outskirts of Glasgow, 'blood brothers' Jamie, Logan, Gary and Digger have always watched out for the interests of the estate residents. Jamie's love story with Allegra Abernathy was absolutely fascinating. Allegra's father Cameron will do everything possible and possible to get out of prison and destroy Jamie and his fiercely loyal friends. Expect lots of action, twists and turns and plenty of colourful characters in this final instament.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the review copy, provided in exchange for an honest opinion.

I have loved this blood brothers series. Over the series the characters have grown and developed. Greed and power are definitely what makes for some compelling storylines in this great series. Jamie just wants to be free to go and live a happy life with Allegra his one true love, but unfortunately he’s not going to get his happy ending if Cameron gets his way. Fuming for being sent to prison for her murder Cameron is out for revenge and he doesn’t care what it costs or who he has to bribe to get results. A real gripping page turner with so much action and twists and turns galore. A well deserved five star read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
