Alright, Rachel Lynn Solomon, mayhaps you're an instant read now. I'm not one for Groundhog Day-esque books but I LOVED this we had this loop of a day element without it being too repetitive.

Barrett Bloom has the worst first day of college, between a surprise roommate who hates her, being embarrassed in her physics class and then completely messing up her interview with the college paper (and this isn't even the worst of it), it's safe to say it is Not A Good Day. When she wakes up the next day, the day has restarted, she's back in her dorm, woken up to the yelling of the surprise roommate. The day repeats and repeats and then she finds out she's not the only one stuck in this loop. Enter: Miles. They're both stuck in this repeating loop of a hellish first day and they're trying to figure out how to get out of it.

It's so endearing seeing them work together because Miles has a very "scientific approach" to figuring this out while Barrett has a more magical way of looking at it. Barrett's struggle with the bullying that happened in high school and moving forward through that and Miles' relationship with his older brother were !! my heart hurts. i'm going to wrap them in a bubble and keep them safe.

Despite generally hating time travel and time loop plot lines, I requested an ARC of this book because I absolutely love this author's writing, and I'm so glad I did. Despite its obvious plot influences, like Groundhog Day, See You Yesterday is such a perfectly unique story. Rachel Lynn Solomon quickly got through the "required" parts of the plot, like the main character realizing she's in a time loop, and rather focussed on character driven moments, which allowed the characters arcs to be that much stronger. Overall, the character writing was really incredible (as per usual for this author). This story contains really good diversity and conversations surrounding topical issues, but even on a lighter note I found the characters and their daily struggles to be really relatable, such as Barrett's struggle with loneliness. Lastly, the romance was painfully cute. Really, I can't recommend this book enough!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Pros:
-the heart of this story is a romance and it was really well-written, the two characters complimented each other in a great way
-I loved how different the characters were. There was so much depth of Barrett and Miles and I enjoyed learning more about them
-there were so many cute scenes
Cons:
-the nature of this book (time-loop) led me to being confused at times about events that had already happened and events that were going to happen

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for access to this eARC. Access was given in exchange for my honest review. This fantastic book comes out May 17.

It's the first day of college and almost everything that could go wrong for Barrett Bloom does. When she wakes up the next day, she discovers that she is stuck in a time loop. To make matters worse, it seems Miles, the guy from physics class, is stuck in it too!

My first Rachel Lynn Solomon book was Weather Girl a few months ago, followed by The Ex Talk. In Russell and Dominic, she had created truly wonderful book boyfriends. And now, I'm going to have to add Miles to that list. This author is rapidly taking the role of my adoring Bubbeh (although far too young chronologically!!) in introducing me to all of these wonderful men.

I loved how the purpose behind each day changed for Barrett and Miles. Some days, they used that day to live out wild dreams, sometimes to Ferris Bueller the heck out of it, and sometimes to research what might be going on and how to fix it. I loved how Miles and Barrett began to show each other their real, true selves and how their love story begins. Keep in mind, this is a YA book so yes the vibe is different from her adult books but that, in my opinion, doesn't take away from the greatness of it.

I have to admit Ms Solomon is rapidly becoming an auto-buy for me. 5 stars, no doubt about it. May 17-- Mark it on your calendar!!!

This book was absolutely lovely but I am not surprised because Rachel Lynn Solomon never disappoints. Once more, she’s crafted characters that feel like real people with their own fleshed out lives and emotions. And of course, in this one she did all that while adding the very unrealistic aspect of a time loop. I find that sometimes time loop stories can get a bit boring, but I was never bored with this one. I was compulsively reading. I was originally going to give this one four stars because the couple conflict around 70% annoyed me to no end, but the ending made me super emotional and totally made up for any misgivings I had. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so acutely sad and then very happy over a book in such a small timespan. I highly recommend this one.

This was so cute! I've enjoyed pretty much everything that I've read by Rachel Lynn Solomon before, and See You Yesterday was no exception. This story works so well because of its premise, which has definitely been before, but which I think Solomon does particularly well: the stuck-in-a-time-loop plot. Our two leads, Barrett and Miles, find themselves stuck in a time loop in their first year of college, and on their first day of classes no less. This setup, then, allows for the story to explore and develop a lot of things: the romance, for one, but also a lot of coming-of-age things that the characters are just starting to learn about themselves. And I just really loved seeing the relationship between Miles and Barrett develop over the course of the story--there are some lovely little moments here, and Solomon writes them in a grounded, moving way. Definitely recommend this if you're looking for something quick and cute, regardless of whether you usually read YA or not.

Thanks so much to Simon & Schuster Canada for providing me an e-ARC of this via NetGalley!

I received an e-arc of See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Rachel is probably the only YA Contemporary author I consistently read from after graduating high school. I read YA contemporary less and less now but I always keep up with her new releases, since Today Tonight Tomorrow. I really like how Rachel writes older YA, usually characters who are just graduating high school and making the transition to university. There's also so much representation in her stories, always Jewish main characters, they talk about therapy and mental health.
See You Yesterday was so fun, the story follows Barrett who ends up stuck in a time loop on her first day of college, hijinks ensue and she discovers she might not be the only one stuck when she meets Miles in her physics class.
Barrett was so funny, I found her relatable, and those Veronica Mars references 0.0.
Miles was the sweetest <3. I loved their dynamic and their romance, they had me smiling the whole book.
I didn't really know what to expect going into this, but I had a great time with Barrett and Miles.

Another thoughtful and entertaining coming-of-age story from Solomon, with her trademark blend of heroines with social struggles, themes about the importance of family, rocky but rewarding friendships, and smart, driven heroes who fall head-over-heels in love with the whole messy but delightful package that forms the central voice of each narrative. Here we have the added twist of a time loop, which creates an interdependence of the central duo as they attempt to escape a first day of college they seem to be repeating together. It's a fun method of testing one's characters as they try out new ways to live a life without a guaranteed tomorrow. Be good and save the world? Get revenge on people who've wronged you? Rob a bank? Have as much fun as possible? Eat a ton of junk food? Mend broken relationships? Try something terrifying? Solomon's characters run the gamut as they seek escape and develop an appreciation for the lives they were living before The Universe . . . threw them for a loop. Anyone who started college hoping "this will be different from high school" will relate to Barrett's struggles to leave her past behind and start fresh, only to find that meaningful change takes a heck of a lot more work than stepping onto a college campus and hoping for the best.

As a bit of a side note, I find this a tricky book to classify. While it has a sci-fi setup, readers expecting a sci-fi focus might consider themselves misled. Those looking for a category romance might also get antsy when the emotional connection between the central pair doesn't kick in until about 1/3 of the way through the book. More notably, its college setting and voice felt more adult than YA to me, with a focus on leaving the security of a family home, forging new (hopefully long term) relationships, thinking ahead to a career plan, and otherwise moving forward into adulthood after high school has ended and a new stage of life has begun, However, the market hasn't yet resolved its approach to New Adult as a classification, using it largely to label books with more graphic sex than most commercial YA titles. This book wouldn't fit that category either. I say all of this with the hopes that markets embrace more of these college set books, marketing them not as YA or as NA (if NA continues to be an umbrella term for YA + more sex), but perhaps with a new category heading. It was lovely to read about the stage of life wherein the characters were functioning as independent adults, but still sorting out how to break away from their teen identities and anxieties and conflicts. I'd like to see more titles written specifically for this audience, even if they don't fit tidily into existing shelves like sci-fi, romance, or YA contemporary. Here's hoping the market catches up soon, because this book deserves to find its audience. And its audience deserves more books targeted to their readership.

Rating: 3 stars

I was really excited to read this book when I read the synopsis, and so I’m very grateful to NetGalley for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review!

However, I didn’t really love this book. The idea of repeating the same day over and over again intrigued me because I thought we were going to get into some real mischief and have some crazy adventures. But for about 50% of this book, we are talking about the science of it all and that was a little underwhelming and boring for me. I personally have never been a lover of physics and detest it with everything that I am so that contributed to me not really liking this book. I also felt that we didn’t get a lot of character development and backstory from the characters until the very end of the novel. Again, just a little disappointing. But, I really did enjoy the banter and romance between Barrett and Miles. I felt like whenever they were together, I was more engaged and invested in the story.

Overall, this was an okay novel for me. I would recommend giving it a try just to witness the romance between the two main characters unfold, definitely the highlight of this book for me.

See You Yesterday follows Barrett Bloom who is forced to relive her first day of college over and over again. But she's not alone. Miles is stuck in the same time loop. Barrett and Miles must work together to find a way out as they confront past traumas, try to make sense of their identity post-high school, and navigate their growing feelings for one another.

I loved the time travel/physics aspect of this book! I thought it had the perfect balance between science and magic. However, although I loved how it was a more realistic less glamourized take on college love, I didn't enjoy reading about Miles and Barrett's relationship as much as I wanted to. I felt like there wasn't enough chemistry between them until closer to the end, and I was less invested in the book as a result.

All in all, I'd recommend this book to fans of Again, but Better and Rachel Lynn Solomon's previous work.

i don’t even know how to BEGIN to review this book because there’s just so much i could say but at the same time i am speechless. i usually don’t enjoy any sort of media that is a sci-fi/fantasy/magical etc (i strictly read/watch ya contemporary fiction) but this book? SO SO GOOD. i loved and related to barrett in so many ways, miles is basically like my dream guy, and their relationship was so adorable, and if you like slow burn this is DEFINITELY for you! the biggest thing i could say about this book though? is that it is now the first and only book i have ever cried at, which is a huge deal for me because i don’t cry often at media! but man this book had me SOBBING at parts, but it also had me smiling like an idiot (i read part of it on facetime with a friend and i was like “i just read a really cute part!” and she said “i could tell, i was watching you just smiling while reading the whole time”) i went through every single emotion possible while reading this book and i almost wish i was one of the people who’s day resets at midnight and forgets about it just so i could read this book again for the first time! this is seriously my new favourite book and i can’t wait to 1) scream about it to every single one of my friends and make them read it and 2) buy a physical copy when it comes out so i can annotate the sh!t out of it! EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!!!

4/5 Mazama pocket gophers for See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon.

I really enjoyed this book. I went away to university and lived in a dorm, so it was cool to have a book set in that environment. The book was well written and the characters were well-developed. Barrett has a great sense of humour and I was happy to spend over 400 pages with her and Miles and their ridiculous attempts to break out of their time loop. It was also really nice to see some representation for Jewish characters and a relationship where a bigger girl is dating a skinnier guy.

FYI: The book deals with themes of bullying (both IRL & online) and touches on a family member in drug rehab, so if those are touchy for you then you may want to skip this one.

Overall, I definitely want to check out Rachel's other books, particularly Today Tonight Tomorrow (YA) and The Ex Talk (Romance), and I look forward to her future publications!

My thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for sending me an ARC of this book on NetGalley.

Oh my heart.....Miles and Barratt currently own my heart.

When I read the synopsis for this book I have to say I was very excited! I am a personal fan of time loop movies/trope and this seemed like it would be right up my alley.

Boy oh boy was I correct. This was exactly what I wanted, fun, quirky, romantic and hilarious.

Barrett is amazing, super awkward and the queen of making jokes at the worst time which I relate to way too much.

Miles may be the sweetest soul ever and he must he protected at all costs.

I will say this is a character driven story, Barrett and Miles really keep it going and watching them figure who they truly want to be and what they want out of life. Taking a second to look at the people around them. That is what makes this book so heartwarming to me.

I must say I absolutely loved this book, and reccomend you run out and buy it as soon as it comes out.

--4.5 Stars --

This book was an absolute blast to read! Two university students get stuck in a time loop of the same day, experiencing it over and over and over again. Barrett Bloom is quite the character and her snark is part of the reason why I love her so much. Miles is a quiet guy who loves physics and slowly begins to warm up to Barrett slowly as the story goes on. You can’t help but love the way they begin to interact with each other and also with everyone around them throughout their days stuck in the loop. This story is kind of a slow-burn YA romance and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The way that Barrett and Miles embrace their shared religion of Judaism and the sweet way that Miles explores this with Barrett by his side is super heartwarming. You can’t help but laugh and cry alongside them as they adventure through the same day over and over, just hoping to find a way out. The last few chapters had me absolutely hooked and I stayed up way later than I needed to just to finish it! I hope you enjoy this sweet story as much as I did!

thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc!!

4.5 stars, rounded up to 5!

i loved this so so much! i haven't read much from rachel lynn solomon, but I'll definitely be picking up more of her books in the future.

first off, i absolutely loved the concept of this novel; the whole 'groundhog day' time-loop plot was really great, and the book was super fun and fast-paced. the characters were also really well-written (loved the slow-burn enemies to lovers trope) and realistic. barrett and miles were everything, i loved both of them and their enemies to reluctant friends to friends to lovers arc was perfect!! while the book was very fun, it also tackled some heavier topics (addiction, bullying, SA, and PTSD); these were handled very well by the author, though!

overall, i would definitely recommend this book! i loved it a lot, and the ending was really great :)

I loved this, it was so fun to follow the main characters' stories. How they would get out of this loop, what created it.

The main guy is so adorable.
Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for something entertaining and easy to read.

I have really enjoyed a number of Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books but I have to say that See You Yesterday is not what I was expecting at all. Barrett is excited for her first day of college, when she gets stuck in a Groundhog Day-esque time loop. She discovers another college student who is stuck in the same loop and they must try to figure out how to escape it together.

What I liked: I find Solomon’s love stories to be very sweet, and I would compare this one to her other book Today, Tonight, Tomorrow. I thought Miles and Barrett balanced each other out nicely and I liked how they leaned on each other throughout the story. I also really enjoyed their antics in the middle.

What could be better: I was not expecting physics to play such a big role in this book and it was way more science fiction than I thought it would be. I found those parts to be pretty dry, simply because it is not one of my interests.

Overall I think this book was four out of five stars for me. I read it very quickly because I needed to know how it ended. While this was not the love story that I was expecting to read, but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

"I'm glad you're not dead." I say.
A little tease of a smile in the corner of his mouth. "That might he tue nicest thing you've ever said to me."

I love this so much!! Groundhog day tropes are always so interesting if done right. Barrett and Miles are absolutely adorable and seeing their relationship develop in -thirty plus- one day never failed to be interesting.

Every day relived you learn more about the two as they try and figure out why they are stuck together and what they have to do or not do in that day inorder to move onto the next day with everyone else.

Triggers Warnings:
humiliation of first time having sex (off page), sibling with drug addiction (mentions), fat phobia, major car crash, + more I can't remember, but none of them are very explict only a few comments, one moment, or meantion in passing.

Thank you so much Netgalley, Simon and Schuster, and Rachel Lynn Solomon for the digital arc via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was an excellent and fun read. I was a little worried it would be a rehash of Groundhog Day, but the inclusion of two characters being trapped in the time loop makes it it’s own thing. The main character is very funny and sarcastic. The dialogue is great. I couldn’t put it down!
