For an amateur book, this turned out to be really insightful. It makes me confident I can write my own book some day.

For me, any of these All-Time greatest books are really up to the person who is writing them. Most people are going to agree on some and disagree on others. As for myself this book was written by a young man who is 29 and explained that he watched a lot of videos from either past games or players I am sure this is true but like everything, the players from the 50s, 60s, and 70s really paved the way for today’s stars. I am in my sixties and I remember going to a game and seeing George Gervin in The “Iceman” play seeing him in person was very different than on T.V. what he could do on the court was effortless, at least that was the way he made it look. I also would have put Dr. J higher on his list for when the author said he was doing what Jordan was doing was wrong. Dr. J was doing the high-flying dunks many years before Jordan, of course, he was in the ABA but it was still a thing of beauty, not saying he was better than Jordan just the high-flying dunks I remember Dr, J doing those In the ABA for I was able to see those. Overall good book.

Serious disappointment. But not too bad for an amateur doing an amateurish job. Not nearly as rational or logical as he thinks. Most of the things he got partially right were as much because they were so right that one would have to create a way to intentionally subvert reality. I don't buy his premises, I don't buy his strategy and approach, and I don't recommend buying this book. I'm also not going to share this negative review beyond here because I don't want to bring additional attention to it nor do I want my readers to associate me with such a low level attempt at applying statistics to reality.

This is a huge read! If you are a basketball fan, there is so much to enjoy here. I'd like to have seen the prose broken up with a few images as it is quite a heavey read without them, but is well written and researched. The book is structured into sections: 50 Greatest Teams,50 Greatest Playoff Runs, 50 Greatest Playoff Moments, and 100 Greatest Players.

Of course, you may not agree with the order of some of these rankings, but you cannot deny that this author has left nothing out!

In the last few years I have become obsessed with the NBA - creating fantasy teams, scouting NCAA games, going over effectiveness of trades; real, total NBA nerd stuff. This book is a great companion piece for seasoned NBA fans as well as fans looking to deep dive into the last 75 years of the sport.

It's a little too stats heavy for me, but it helped justify the players and teams placement on the lists and helped me better understand what makes a player truly great at this sport. This will be my go to gift for basketball fans.

A lot of time and effort was put into making this book feel objective and unbiased when ranking historical NBA players and teams..Any diehard fan will enjoy this but it may be a bit long and some of the stats may go over the heads of the average fan. As someone who lives and dies with the NBA, I enjoyed the idea and the execution

The All Time Greatest NBA Book” by Christian Meyers is full of stats and more stats. The book breaks down, from the author’s, standpoint the greatest teams, players, runs by a player and the greatest playoff moments. The author is 29 so his personal viewing of the actual games and players is limited. I am 65, a former season ticket holder for the Golden State Warriors and in grade school a group of us played basketball during half time at the Forum. None of that makes me an expert by any stretch of the imagination.
Back when I was watching as a kid the only statistics they had was win/loss, score and individual player score. It was a different game back then and it would continue to change every 10 years or so. This makes it difficult to prove much of anything beyond a season or two during a specific time frame.
So the only way to try and do any type of comparison is to use statistics and dig deep into articles from sports writers and quotes from players and coaches which is what we have with “The All Time Greatest”. If you have watched basketball for years you be interested in where your picks are compared to the author. It is like the debate at the barbershop as to who would beat who between the The Showtime Lakers and the Jordan’s Bulls. Who knows?
Is this book worth getting? I would say yes if you are very vested in Basketball, you love statistics and you won’t get put off if your favorite team or player is not rated as high as you think they should be.
Personally, I did not agree with many of the rankings, I also felt that there are factors that can not be put on a spreadsheet (and the author does try to take some of those into consideration) and finally I feel we do not give some of the players from the 50’s, 60’s or 70’s as much credit as they deserve.
