This book was what I figured it was going to be - heartwarming, making me cry and laugh, with some romance thrown into the mix. Definitely worth the read.

Really well thought-out book with amazing characters and excellent setting.

Enjoyable, well written story with well rounded characters and a picturesque setting. Whilst we have some interesting twists and turns along the way it is obvious from the outset where we are going to wind up. However that is not a bad thing and if you enjoy fluffy romcoms/chick lit where you know a happy ending is coming, this is the book for you!

The book was very well written and flowed well. The plot was great. Everything I thought it would be from the description

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. The book was filled with miscommunication and wholly unlikeable characters, and I just struggled with the book in general.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Books set in Cornwall make a perfect setting for a summer story, but this popularity means there is a huge amount of choice for readers. I am new to this author so went in open-minded and hopeful for a good read in the sunshine. The story is ok, I think that perhaps, had I not just finished two other books set in Cornwall that were excellent I may have viewed this book in a little more positive light, but, as pointed out previously, the reading choice in this genre is saturated with romances set in Cornwall.
After a time I found myself skimming the pages in the hope that something great would happen to spark my interest & enjoyment, as I really wanted to like this book. This book isn’t bad, it’s just not as good as others. I also found some of the Americanisms annoying (eg purse instead of handbag), and learnt afterwards that the author is from the Canada; however, as the book is set in England, with English characters, I’d expect them to refer to items etc. using English terms.
This book is ok, a bit bland, and in my opinion there are many other books in this genre, also set in Cornwall that are far better. Not for me, sorry.

Starting Over at the Little Cornish Beach House by Nancy Barone

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Aria and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Interior designer Faith Hudson knows better than anyone the value of a home. Growing up as an unwanted kid in foster care, she hangs onto every last treasure, always searching for the place where she belongs. Out of the blue, Gabe York, the musician ex-boyfriend who broke her heart, calls to say he wants a second chance... and asks her to renovate the Cornish beach house they used to share together. It's bittersweet for Faith, but she's nothing if not hopeful...

But it's not long before Gabe is up to his old tricks and Faith's optimism is tested to its limit. It's a good thing the renovation – and sexy kitchen-guy Henry – are keeping her busy... because one thing is becoming clear, turning a house into a home is less about the colour you paint the walls and more about the arms that hold you while you watch it dry...

This was a sweet read but it didn't grab me as much as I thought it would. For me I couldn't see the point of the plot, I kept getting the feeling there wasn't really a plot to follow. There was also a lot of miscommunication between the characters. Looking at the reviews this book is great for some people, it just wasn't the book for me.

Rating 3/5

Growing up in foster care, Faith is determined to find a place where she belongs. When her ex-boyfriend, musician Gabe York, calls to ask for a second chance she moves back into the home they used to share. However, it’s not long before Faith’s heart is broken again. Will she be able to move forward and find the family she longs for?

This was a cute easy read.

A real good feel romance book. I was drawn in right from the beginning.
The story is about Faith, her sister and children, who are her world. Her on off relationship with Gabe her boyfriend, who she finds out has cheated on her. Then she meets Henry and his son Orson and things start to look up. Lots of twists and turns which i love, keeps you interested in the story to the end.
I really enjoyed my first novel by Nancy Barone and love forward to many more.

When Gabe left Faith she lost her relationship and also the home that she loved. But not everything is as it seems and lots of people are keeping secrets, even new friend Henry, so what will happen when Faith learns the truth?

Starting Over at the Little Cornish Beach House by Nancy Barone is a love story with some dark overtones. Faith lives in the most beautiful beach house ever with the man she loves, rock star, Gabe. It had been the house her family had vacationed in before her father left, she realized. It had been redone and then Faith, an interior designer, decorated it. It was perfect. Just what they both wanted. They'd had a fabulous and sexy night and the next morning Gabe dropped a bombshell: he had found someone else. She immediately moved out into a small apartment near her sister. A few months later Gabe called. He was done with his new love. Could she go back and make the beach house look like it had before, and would she come back? Could she love him again? It was everything she wanted to hear. She took her crew to the beach house where they saw the biggest tragedy they had ever seen. There was animal fur carpet on the kitchen floor, for crying gout loud, and much of the rest of the house was RED. It was horrible. As for wanting him back, of course she did.

Poor Faith. She had trouble making up her mind. She loved with her whole heart and didn't see bad in someone she loved. She ended up paying for that. So much happened in this book that I can't begin to replay it. You will have to read it for yourself. There were so many lies and so many misunderstandings that it is mindboggling. Faith is just as her name implies. She has a twin who has two young kids who she loves with all her heart and spends plenty of time with. Her joiner has a young son, too, who he brings to work sometimes and she falls in love with him and with his father. Gabe, of course, lets her down when the girl friend turns up pregnant and he decides to do the "right" thing. It is a roller coaster ride, to be sure, but such fun, most of the time. Good read.

Faith returns to bring a house back to it's former glory. The house holds some painfull memories but hints at a brighter future.
She pours her heart out bringing it back to its tasteful state..
There are relationships to work through, family relationships providing support and the beautiful Cornish views from a stunning house raising itself back to glory.

This book was a fun treat! I loved it! It was a good reset after I read a heavier book. It kept me flipping pages well past my bedtime!!

In Starting Over at the Little Cornish Beach House, Faith Hudson finds herself at loose ends after her longtime boyfriend dumps her and leaves her for her professional (and personal) rival. Just as she is picking up the pieces of her life after their split, her charming musician ex-boyfriend resurfaces, begging for another chance and asking Faith to remodel his beach cottage— her childhood dream home and the place where they had once planned to build a life together. Faith agrees to remodel the home and to consider reconciling with her ex-boyfriend, only to find herself drawn to the kind, single-father carpenter assisting her on the project. As trouble-resurfaces with her ex-boyfriend, Faith must determine which man to trust with her heart and her future.

After reading a few heavier books over the last few weeks, Starting Over at the Little Cornish Beach House was the perfect pick-me-up. The two leads are compelling characters, and I really enjoyed seeing how they both overcame past hurts and began to build a relationship together. I do think that the narrative didn’t need the final miscommunication to break the leads apart— there was enough going on in the story that I think it could have worked without it, but I could see how Faith would react that way after the scars of her past. All in all, this was a fun introduction to Nancy Barone, and I think it will be a big hit with readers looking for a nice summer read. 3.75 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I enjoyed reading this book.

An interior designer, Faith’s ex wants to have another chance, he’s a liar and a cheat.

He wants her to change the interior of the house they shared, Faith agrees to it, after which she will decide whether she wants to be with Gabe. With the help of Henry, the house is redesigned.

But who will Faith choose for her happy ever after ?

Faith is an interior designer who is trying her best to reach the elite in the business but no joy. She is living in the house of her dreams overlooking the Cornish coast, the house holds special childhood memories of her mum. She lives with her fiancé Gabe a rock star who she wants to have a family with. However he has other ideas and tells her he’s in love with no other than her arch enemy in the interior designer world.
Not only does she take Faiths man but proceeds to put her mark on the house.
After six months Gabes single and employs Faith and her team to redo the house so that they can be together again??
This is rubbish as he’s put the house on the market to sell, feeds Faith lots of lies and totally plays with her mind.
Friendships are made with the kitchen fitter and his son Olson which open Faiths eyes to possibilities she had never before thought of.
A lovely rom com book which I personally enjoyed
