Lily Upshire Is Winning was an unusual coming of age novel which started when Lily was 12 and went through to around 20. It followed Lily through some unusual circumstances, including bullying, relationships, online friends and correspondence. After Lily's favourite drink was contaminated she wanted an apology from the company - they were prepared to give anything but...and so started a weird chain of events.

Thank you to Happy Self Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I was not sure what I was getting into when I requested this book but I saw it was a different type of coming of age novel. This novel was a lot of telling and not showing to me. Lily experienced very little character growth to me and it felt like this story was more about how she caused the downfall of a corporation through the unauthorized usage of her name than how she grew as a person. Her being bullied was very graphic and made me think of my youth and was uncomfortable which may have been the point. However, she learned the wrong lesson or maybe it was the true lesson of the world. I was forcing myself to finish this just to see where this would end but I can't say that I enjoyed it.
