I had a hard time finishing this book - while the concept is interesting and just playing the game felt like a major accomplishment, I just couldn't enjoy it that much with all the drama between the players and other people. It almost felt like a YA book - and maybe it was and I am coming across as a "get off my lawn" type of old grouch - but I just didn't find this book all that engaging. I do want to thank you for the copy, however and letting me express my honest feelings on this publication, I wish you success in marketing the book as there are readers who will enjoy it - just not me.

*Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for supplying a copy of this e-book in return for an honest review.*
Unfortunately felt a little underwhelmed by this book. In theory, it provided what I like: football, an underdog story, and little-known history. But the story, which reads like Young Adult Fiction, feels light in its depth, with a disproportionate amount of text given over to play-plays of the game itself. Even as a football fan I found this a bit boring and wished I was watching it instead. In particular, the RSJ players were hard to sympathise with. Fleshing out their backstories further may have helped in this regard. I would recommend this book to people interested in US soccer history.
