What a lovely showcase of all that is Florida! A bounty of big, colorful photos show off both the natural and man-made beauty of the state. There is a great variety between the expected sights (South Beach, Disney World, Key West, etc.) and more hidden gems like small towns, monuments, and off-the-beaten path nature preserves. The whole state is well represented and this will inspire wanderlust for any eager traveler! This would make an excellent coffee table book or souvenir to remember a great adventures.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

Florida is a volume in the Visual Explorer Guide series, this volume curated and written by John Crippen. Due out 14th June 2022 from Amber Books, it's 224 pages and will be available in flexibound format.

This is an attractive and well written guidebook to Florida. The entries are arranged roughly geographically: Miami and the East Coast, Miami and the East Coast, Everglades and the Florida Keys, and Orlando and Around. Each chapter is further divided into specific attractions. Each of the entries contains location info with a short bio of the place. Additional information such as webURLs, maps, times to visit, etc, are not included, but the info will be easy to locate with an internet search.

The photography is abundant and clear. The photos are nearly all stock photos; all photo credits are included in the back of the book.

Four stars. It's a competently curated look at one of the planet's major tourist destinations in the USA and it's full of really well presented photos of iconic locations. It would make a good choice for public or school library acquisition as well as for home use in the early planning stages for a holiday. It's not really a guidebook, per se.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Great photos, the perfect book for an armchair traveller. It made me wish I could travel to Florida.
I loved it and it was a good way to learn about this place.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Florida is a photography book with information about places to see, things to do and information about Florida itself. There's historical information mixed in between sightseeing, locations and lots more. The photos were great but hard to see via pdf view as I couldn't zoom in on them without the pixilation going out of focus. This would make a great book for researching up on florida or to read before holidaying/visiting there or even as a suvineer after going there. Some of the photos looked quite dated which was a little disappointing but other than that a great coffee table photography and information read.

Amber Books continues with it’s photo book series this time featuring Florida. This is the type of book that you would purchase to remind you of your travels to Florida or give you some ideas of places to see and visit. I also like to look at these type of books for best angles when shooting my own photos. This series of books have different authors and for some of the photos the wording is very British as opposed to American. The meaning is clear but I didn’t notice that in the previous photo books I’ve read from the publisher. A large section focuses on Orlando and the amusement parks. DisneyWorld has several photos but only one from the Epcot theme park and none from the Animal Kingdom. The newest attraction is noted as being from 2019. Some places are iconic and never age but other photos look dated. I think this is still a worthy book if you’re looking for a photo book of Florida. Thank you to NetGalley and Amber Books Ltd. for a temporary eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Having previously visited Florida, I felt like I had seen a lot of what it had to offer, but boy was I wrong!
This book opened my eyes to the variety of places in Florida that foster some vastly different styles of living. It was so interesting to see the differences between the Florida Keys and Orlando and the difference between both of those and Miami. It’s hard to believe that they are in the same state.
Fabulous, colourful photos can’t fail to catch your eye in this book. It’s good to look through and to read.
My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review.

This is a book of photographs with short captions that shows the diverse regions of Florida, from the Emerald Coast to central Florida and the land of theme parks to the beauty of the nature coast and the glitz and glamour of Miami. The photos are beautiful but appear a little dated and blurry in the ARC, but that may be corrected in the final edit

_Florida_ is another excellent installment in the Visual Explorer Guide series published by Amber Books!

More evidently written by a Brit than its counterpart California, this came through in various turns of phrase and punctuation--which I might have noticed less if I weren't in the midst of an editing certificate, ha!

As ever, the photography particularly stands out here. St. Augustine looks beautiful, and its history compelling; Amelia Island brought back fond memories of a destination wedding I attended in 2019. (Ah...pre-covid travel. #bliss)

I'm sure I could get used to the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, pandemic or no! (And maybe I could do some shopping along Worth Avenue while I'm at it? Givency and Valentino are calling my name!)--or perhaps the Don Cesar Hotel, in St. Petersburg. Equally beautiful, it also hosted F. Scott Fitzgerald (among others); I've read The Great Gatsby several times and recently picked up a _very_ cool hardback edition.

Speaking of books, another appealing destination would be the Ca' d'Zan, in Sarasota. I read a book set there earlier this year and would love to see the real thing! And, Tarpon Springs sounds intriguing--most notably due to its Greek heritage and the corresponding restaurants. ("I'm only here for the food." #everafter) :)

Engagingly written, and focused more on the nature components than _California_ was. I enjoyed learning more about the state, and am ready to visit once again.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Loved this book. Florida is one of my favourite places in the world and this book has brought back so many happy memories and I can’t wait to get back there this year now lockdown is over. My only comment is that there is a photo of pleasure island with comments of downtown Disney on page 165 which no longer exist and this isn’t clear but makes no difference to the enjoyment of the book. I’m desperate to get on a plane now.

This book "Florida" is a lovely collection of photographs accompanied by info tidbits and captions. The book is broken up into sections: Miami & East Coast, Panhandle and West Coast, Everglades and Florida Keys, and Orlando and Around. I enjoyed the images contained in this book, especially the images of the Everglades and Florida Keys (which is on my bucket list to visit). This is a nice "coffee table" book to share with friends or maybe in a waiting area of an office. I would definitely recommend this collection of beautiful photographs of Florida.
