Meg's brother Rob is getting married-yay! Meg has to do much of the work for the wedding-boo! So of course she's more than interested when her nephew Kevin asks for her help because his buddy Casey might have been targeted because of their work on a podcast about cold case crimes. There's a lot (a lot) going on in this latest installment in a very (very) long running series but that's ok- and it will be fine as a standalone as long as the new reader is willing to go along for the ride. I love the characters - including the animals- and how they interact with each other. Meg's instincts aren't always the best but she's an ace at solving crime and keeping a sense of humor. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A fun cozy read.

Donna Andrews never fails to entertain and Round Up the Usual Peacocks carries on the tradition of telling an engaging tale of Meg Langslow and her eccentric family. While trying to plan a wedding and keep everyone happy Meg manages to solve cold cases, help her nephew with his podcast problems and still find time to spend with her family. I await every new book with great anticipation and this one didn't disappoint.

This is always such a fun series! I enjoy checking in with Meg, Michael, and her family to see what is happening now. This time Meg chose to investigate three cold cases to avoid helping with the preparation for her brother’s wedding.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Meg Langslow has often gone to her nephew, tech-whiz Kevin, for help with investigations. This time, Kevin has come to her. He and his friend have started a true crime podcast and after his friend nearly gets run over on a darkened street in the middle of the night, Kevin can't help but wonder if the subject of one of their podcasts is trying to shut them up.

This is one of my favorite series and one I have kept up with since I started it a few years ago (after binge-reading it to get caught up). I don't know how the author always manages to keep the series fresh, even after 31 books, but she does. In this book, Meg is asked to investigate several cases that Kevin and his friend used on their true crime podcast to see if one of the cases might be related to a near-miss hit-and-run. Meg passes some of the investigating to the police and does some traveling to follow up on the cases she decides to pursue on her own. All the mysteries end up being solved, though only one of them leads her to a killer.

There was a lot going on in this book but it wasn't hard to follow and though there are dozens of characters they're easy to remember and differentiate (and I'm generally very critical of books I feel have too much going on or too many characters, so that's really saying something!) Another great book in a fantastic series!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

This is one of my absolute favorite series! It's book 31 and it hasn't gotten stale. The series keeps moving on, changing with the times, with good character development and the mysteries are always fresh and new. Round Up the Usual Peacocks is my favorite in the series so far. The addition of a podcast hosted by her nephew and three cold cases moved this one to the top of the list. Bonus points for the feisty peacocks - the funniest part of the story. I just can't get enough of Meg and her family.

Another great addition to Donna Andrews' series. As per the blurb, Meg is busy prepping for her brother's wedding when her nephew Kevin asks for some help with a couple of cold cases that he has featured on his true crime podcast. Round up the Usual Peacocks focuses on Meg and her investigations throughout the community and the university. Recommended.

Meg will do almost anything to get out of assisting her mother with her brother Rob's way over-the-top wedding preparations. So, when her nephew Kevin comes to ask for help, Meg is all-in.

Computer nerd Kevin and his friend Casey have started a true crime podcast. Someone isn't pleased. In fact, Casey was almost hit by a car when he was walking back to campus one evening. The main problem is that the two don't know which of their podcasts stirred someone up.

After some discussion, they decide to focus on three of the more local crimes. The first has to do with a man perhaps wrongly accused of murder in the death of a convenience store clerk. The second has to do with a twenty-six-year-old cheating scandal in the Business Department of the college where Meg's husband teaches. The final case has to do with a disappearance of an up-and-coming young singer who disappeared without a trace two decades ago.

As Meg looks for suspects and witness to these crimes, she's also running errands for her mother. One of the errands includes borrowing some non-molting peacocks to provide ambience at the wedding reception. What she gets is chaos as the peacocks are very aggressive and attack relatives trying to get the yard ready for the festivities. The solution relies on a herding sheep dog who gathers them up and then trains a bunch of Pomeranians to herd.

This was a fun addition to a long-running series. I really like Meg and all of her crazy relatives.

When I started reading this book, I didn’t know it was the 31st book in a series. This made several of the relationships a bit chaotic, but it was a fun read as a standalone. I enjoyed the fact that there were several cold cases going on all at the same time, but figured out the who dunnit fairly early in the book. I also felt that the book was a bit heavy handed at times about technology and over explaining things like podcasts. It wasn’t overly believable that a person in Gen X had never heard of a podcast or would be overly reliant on all things paper. That took me somewhat out of the story. However, I did enjoy the relationships and the fun time of the book.

I really liked this book. I liked that they were working 3 cold cases. It kept things very interesting. This is the 31st book in the series and my first. I had no clue as to who was related and their back stories but I was able to read this as a stand alone. I will definitely be reading more of the series.

Meg’s brother Rob and his fiancée Delaney are getting married. They left all the planning to their mothers and now Meg’s home is filled with family preparing for the elaborate wedding the mothers are planning. So when Meg’s nephew Kevin ask for help when his podcast partner is deliberately almost hit by a car she jumps at the chance to get out of wedding duties and help investigate the three true crime cold cases that Kevin and Casey feel are most likely to be the ones that upset someone enough to try an assault. One involves a 25 year old cheating scandal at the local college, the second a singer who disappeared 20 years ago and the third, more recent, a robbery and murder where the person sent to jail may be innocent. Things get interesting quickly with all three cases and Meg may be on the trail of a murderer.
The Meg Langslow mysteries are always a delight. Even after 31 books they are fresh and amusing. While I had an idea about the solution to the cold cases the book is still an enjoyable and quick read. The scenes with the peacocks had me laughing out loud. There is always some sort of chaos at Meg’s house with a menagerie that ranges from dogs to llamas to peacocks and a large extended family with various, sometimes esoteric, interests. I look forward to each new addition to this series. Highly recommended

Donna Andrews is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. I enjoy the family chaos and with her huge, crazy family there is always plenty. The reader always knows that the next book will be a continuation of this loving and growing family.. In this installment Meg's techie brother is getting married and she is the bridesmaid, assigned to pick up the peacocks that her mother thinks are essential to the ambiance of the wedding. In the meantime her nephew Kevin, who lives in Meg's basement, is working with a friend to produce podcasts about cold cases in the area. Kevin's friend is almost run over and Kevin asks Meg to help them figure out who apparently wants them out of the picture. Meg works to solve the mysteries that stem from the cold cases while trying to do wedding errands and keep her family craziness to a minimum. This is a fun, satisfying mystery with delightful characters and a happy ending. You cannot go wrong with a Donna Andrews book!

This is apparently part of a long going series but I was still able to follow along and enjoy the whole cast of characters. This just made me now want to go start from the beginning!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing this ARC to review. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise. ~

I honestly don't know how Donna Andrews manages to sustain the charm and humor in this series. This is another absolutely entertaining and engaging dip into the series. Meg and her quirky little crew never fail to entertain. Next, please!

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for introducing me to this author and her long-running series. I haven't read any of the earlier books, so there was a huge cast of characters to keep straight. But this light-hearted mystery had me laughing and turning the pages.
When the story opens, Meg's family is plunged into chaos in preparation for her brother's wedding. Then her nephew, Kevin, a computer geek who spends most of his time in the basement, approaches her with a problem. He and his friend have recently started a podcast discussing cold cases, and the night before, someone deliberately tried to run over his friend. They believe the attack might have something to do with one of their podcasts--but they don't know which one.
Meg zeroes in on three most likely cases because they're local, and not so old that some of the affected parties might still be alive. One is the disappearance (and suspected murder) of a promising young singer. Another is a cheating scandal in the business department of the college where Meg's husband teaches. The other involves a wrongful conviction for an armed robbery turned murder.
Meg is a likable, resourceful amateur sleuth, and she has a great relationship with local law enforcement, which is fortunate, because they come to her rescue frequently, just in the nick of time.
Recommended for a fun read.

Another fun hit in a favorite series. Love Meg and her family. Highly recommend this book and author. Hard to put down. Can be read out of order, but more fun to read them all.

One concerning event leads to multiple mysteries for Meg to pursue as she helps determine which cold case commentary prompted a dangerous warning to her nephew Kevin’s podcast partner. While her extended family descends on her farm for her brother Rob’s wedding, Meg masterfully ducks most of the tasks her mother wants to assign as she instead explores three of the cases in depth. As usual, riotous mini-catastrophes ensue. I laughed out loud and enjoyed working along with Meg to solve the cases. I’m not sure how Andrews keeps every entry in this series fresh, but she does so with every single book.

There is so much going on in this book, but I never felt lost or confused by characters, plot lines, or details. I think a reader new to Meg Langslow and her very extended collection of family and friends could be though, so I wouldn’t recommend starting reading this series with this book. Start with Murder With Peacocks, the first entry.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Minotaur Books, Netgalley, and the author for early access to this treasure of a cozy mystery.

Another fantastic return to Meg Langslow, her crazy family, and the Caerphilly crew by Donna Andrews! Fans of the series will love this new mystery. Meg's cousin and a friend have started a true crime podcast, but they seem to have stumbled on something they shouldn't have and nearly end up dead! Meg is on the case, although her mother is most concerned about, how will it impact the impending nuptials of Meg's brother Rob! Add in some riotous peacock humor and you've got the makings of a hilarious, wonderful cozy mystery! I love coming back to Caerphilly with all of its eccentric characters - who are well developed throughout the course of the series! I can't wait for the next book!

Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC through NetGalley, which I recieved in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this latest in the Meg Langslow series. She is trying to stay out of trouble and away from her mother's delegation of chores for Rob's wedding. Has a nice twist at the end. The mystery kept me guessing and it was good to touch base with old friends.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Meg is part of a very large family. Right now the family is in the final arrangements for a very elaborate wedding. Meg’s mother is making life miserable for nearly everyone within 100 miles or so. Would you believe separating confetti because one wrong color was in the bunch?
Meg’s nephew, Kevin, has asked her to investigate a near hit and run accident. Kevin and his partner are doing a regular podcast about cold cases. Evidently one of those cold cases is not so very cold. Which one is hot enough to inspire a murder attempt?
Meg will do anything to get out of wedding duty. So investigating is a perfect escape. There are 3 probable cases which seem the most likely to inspire murderous intent. And investigating them will be interesting as well as freeing from wedding duty.
This story has humor and mystery and many, many characters. This is my first book by Ms Andrews. I enjoyed her plotting and descriptions. The characters were all interesting and added to the forward movement of the story. I did think things became just too precious at times.
I liked Meg and other family members and friends. Although this is the 31st book in a series, I never felt lost or as though I had no idea what was happening. Every character is explained and previous events are described in detail.
I liked this book. I enjoyed the humor and the interactions between characters. This is an author who obviously knows her readers and provides exactly what they desire.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley in the hope I would write a fair and honest review. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are completely my own.

How does she keep doing it? By now I’d expect a series to be stale but I have read EVER. SINGLE. ONE. of these and they’re all better than the last! There is character development and aging of thr characters. They continue to have consistent main characters but bring in new faces and stories to keep it fresh. Another winner in this delightful series.
