Oh wow, that was a roller-coaster of a ride, brilliant read and even better writing, so much so, it's put me off ever travelling to Alaska. Definitely a excellent page turner, once you get into it, you can't put it down,.

In the remote northern town of Deadhorse, Deputy US Marshal Arliss Cutter escorts four very dangerous handcuffed prisoners onto a small bush plane. He’s expecting a routine mission and a nonstop flight… But everything goes wrong. When the plane goes down in the wilderness, all hell breaks loose. The prisoners murder the pilot and a guard and torch the plane. But the nightmare is only just beginning. Back in Anchorage, deputy Lola Teariki has traced the dismembered foot to a missing girl--and the serial psychopath who slaughtered her. I can’t recommend this book enough!!!! Packed with tension and suspense… Had me sat on the edge of my seat.

A roller coaster of a story, and a cold one at that. A dismembered foot leads to a serial killer in Anchorage, Alaska. One of the departmental police is up north in Deadhorse tasked with bringing back prisoners, one of whom turns out to be said serial killer - the plane diverts unofficially for the pilot to check up on his missing girlfriend and the prisoners just happen to make an attempt at freedom causing said plane to come down in the wilderness, well away from their flight planned route. Most of the book details the serious trials and tribulations to survive in an hostile winter with hungry bears. Exciting at one level yes, but too much Boy's Own excitement to keep me especially engaged. Descriptions of Alaska wonderful though. Police characters an engaging mix although I still remains baffled as to the various US "types" of police department. Thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I have just discovered Marc Cameron so was delighted when Netgalley let me have a review copy of Cold Snap.

Arliss Cutter is a deputy Marshall, who is called out for prisoner escort to Frozen Horse in Alaska. What he finds there puts him in the wilderness in a blinding snowstorm trying to survive. The book is just as good as Stone Cross, his prior novel, and the writing is both believable and descriptive. You feel as if you were there with him. I don't want to post any spoilers but I really enjoyed the book.

Great book from someone who has clearly actually been there. For anyone who likes a tense thriller, and stories about the snowy wasteland.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.

This is my first read by Marc Cameron and it definitely won’t be my last. I really, really enjoyed this book. I don’t think I’ve read many books set in Alaska and for me the setting, the description of the scenes and surroundings was just part of why I liked this book. This is the fourth book in the series and it can be read on it’s own. There are references to previous events which just make me want to go back to the first one, Open Carry and read the series in the correct order. I really liked the main character, Arliss Cutter and his work partner Lola who investigate the finding of a dismembered foot and believe they are looking for a serial killer. Cutter is tasked with the transportation of prisoners by air and what should be a simple operation goes horrifically wrong and becomes a matter of survival. I loved all the separate story threads here and enjoyed following the original investigation in Anchorage. I thought the second half of the book really picked up pace and became a very tense, suspenseful and atmospheric read. This book is so well written, engaging and flowed really well. I was immersed in the story and rooting for Cutter from the first page to the last and think the author connects with his readers in a great way through his characters. The book came to a satisfying ending and sets up the next book very nicely. I will be definitely looking to read the previous three books to catch up and would recommend this if you like books with a thriller and suspense element.
