Nicholas Sparks is an author I always go to when I see he has a new book release. He has the capability to write a story and weave it in such a way that you are enthralled by it and its characters Dreamland was quite mesmerizing and entertaining. I have seen a few reviewers say this book is not like his others etc but you always need to see the positive in an author’s writing. Of course they need to evolve in their writing just like we do in our daily lives. Stephen King’s writing today is completely different as when he started.

I enjoyed the storyline and characters and hope no one is dissuaded from reading this one. It was very smart and unique in its own and Sparks knows how to grip his readers’ heart and tug until it hurts.

Definite must read and 4 stars for me

Nicholas Sparks has been an autobuy author for me since I was a young teen. After seeing A Walk to Remember, I read it and then inhaled his backlist. While my taste in books has changed drastically, hopping back into a Sparks novel is so nostalgic and comforting to me. Dreamland follows two separate stories - Colby, an aspiring musician who puts his family’s North Carolina farm ahead of his dreams, and Beverly, a woman fleeing an abusive marriage with her small son. Colby, on a rare break from the farm, takes a gig playing a bar in Florida and meets Morgan who has dreams of moving to Nashville now that she is done with school to pursue her dreams of becoming a star. While they navigate the highs and lows of falling in love despite having two entirely different lives, Beverly deals with financial struggles and danger as she is continually looking over her shoulder.

As always, I enjoyed seeing how the two vastly different storylines were going to tie together. I had some suspicions but I was only partially right. Sparks certainly knows his plot twists. I really enjoyed both stories so I was never disappointed when they shifted. The joy of first love and the terror of fleeing really constrasted each other and somehow worked in the same story. The characters were interesting and likable. I always love when music is a big part of a story and it certainly was in this one.

What took me away from the story was the injection of modern times. I know the story was set in today’s world, but Tiktok just felt so out of place and a bit forced. It felt weird in a Nicholas Sparks book. It felt like an attempt at staying relevant and I don’t know if it necessarily fits with his brand. I think I associate his stories with escaping from the hustle and bustle and focusing on simpler small town life. I was also turned off by the constant references to how little Morgan eats and how tiny she is. I thought they were building up to something deeper with her character, but they were not.

Overall, it was enjoyable, I read through it pretty quickly but it was not my favourite Nicholas Sparks novel. If you're a fan of his work, it's worth checking out.

In a classic Nicholas Sparks way, this one followed two separate stories that eventually weave together in the end. The first is Colby, a farmer and singer/songwriter who meets a girl while in Florida performing. The second is Beverly, a young mom escaping her abusive husband with her young son.

While Beverly’s storyline was gripping and heartfelt, the author gave away the ending early on. With only a few possibilities as to how these stories could come together, a small tidbit early on was almost too big of an Easter egg (or maybe I’ve just read too many trauma stories!) Colby’s story was near painful for me as someone who isn’t into instalove and lovebombing. The romance was fast, unbelievable to me, and closed door.

📚Read this if you like:
⁃ Dual stories that weave together

⁃ Mutual Instant love/lovebombing

This was much different than his other books but in a good way! I think it was my favorite book so far. The book follows Morgan, Colby and Beverly. Colby is working on his family farm in NC and he got the chance to play a show in St Pete , FL so he went. While there he meets Morgan who's also on vaca before moving to Nashville to try and start a music career. Beverly escapes an abusive husband and is going through a rough patch trying to find her way . Was not expecting the plot twist!

Told in alternating perspective the story is interwoven between Beverly, Colby, and Morgan. Beverly is on the run, frantic to build a new life. Colby is enjoying some time away and an opportunity to reconnect with his love of music. Morgan is on a girls trip but her hidden talent will set a new life in motion that will intersect with the other two and reveal family secrets, long kept quiet. Can new love sustain long distance? How to choose between being responsible & being loved? How to help in a crisis that has deep roots? These are a few of the question Sparks tackles in his newest novel Dreamland.
Thanks to NetGalley And Random House for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Nicholas Sparks has always been one of my go-to authors. I always read his stories and I always buy his books to add to my home collection. Although I don’t normally tend to read a lot of the romance genre, his books are the exception. I think The Notebook had something to do with that! Dreamland, which is set to release on September 20, 2022, is a really good read, one I enjoyed immensely, but it did seem a little different from some of his other previous works. It’s told in 2 different storylines and it isn’t until almost the end that you realize how these differing stories mesh together. It was interesting how the author did this and throughout my reading I kept wondering how they related to each other. The story centers around Colby, who lives in the country on a farm with his aunt and sister. He loves music, writing songs and playing guitar, so he goes on a working vacation to Florida to play his music where he meets Morgan, a beautiful young girl who also loves music and is headed to Nashville to make her dreams come true. The other part to the story is about Beverly. She and her son Tommie are on the run from her abusive husband Gary. This was interesting how the author linked these 2 storylines. Giving one of the characters a mental illness, being bipolar and explaining how they can have psychotic breaks and become suicidal if without their medication, added a whole new dimension to the story. I found that interesting and that I learned something from reading about it. I’d like to thank Random House Publishing Group for accepting my request and NetGalley for the arc to read and review. I enjoyed this story and recommend others to read it too. I love Nicholas Sparks books and am giving this a 4 star rating!

A cute story about love, heartbreak and mental health.
I enjoy this read, especially the focus on normalizing mental health.
I appreciated the celebrity/farmer relationship between Colby and Morgan.
Overall not my favourite Nicholas Sparks but definitely a good read for those who want to get lost in a dreamland

Colby Mills and Morgan Lee met by chance in St. Pete Beach, Flordia. Their stories intertwined so naturally, so easily, that I fell in love with both characters. Colby's life took a tragic turn when once destined for a career in music, his aspirations were sidelined. Connected by music (Colby performing, and Morgan's musical degree) the two form something others wish to have.

Beverly's story is also running parallel to the young lovers. On the run from her abusive husband, she's constantly fearful for her life and the life of her son, 6, as they try and create a new life. With danger abound, Beverly will do all she can to care for herself and her son; whatever it takes.

Will both pairs lead the lives they wish to have? Pulled in hook, line, and sinker, Nicholas Sparks definitely has another best seller on his hands.

Colby Mills dreamed of a life as a musician ever since his uncle first placed his old guitar in his hands and taught him to play. But fate has a way of changing things and Colby was forced to take over the family farm after his uncle's death. Farm life doesn't leave much free time, but he jumps at the chance when his friend offers him a three week gig in St. Pete's beach, Florida to play and sing, leaving the farm in his aunt's and manager's capable hands. He never expected to meet Morgan Lee and she has a way of making him believe his dreams are still possible.
Beverly is on the run from an abusive husband along with her six-year-old son Tommie. With very little money, no car, no phone, and afraid to trust anyone, she's hoping that this time they'll finally escape, finally be safe. But when Tommie goes missing, she'll make a choice that changes things forever.
I love Nicholas Sparks writing style. He has a way of writing the character's emotions that makes the story so real. Both story lines were so totally different, leaving me wondering until the very end how everything tied together. As always the love story was sweet and inspiring, the two just so perfect together. I loved the parts where they collaborate together to create the perfect music. And Beverly's story was truly heartbreaking, the desperation of a young mother trying to keep her child safe. And when you find out the truth... grab the tissues.

I'm really torn on this one. I enjoyed the love story, and I don't always enjoy love stories. It was written really well, as all of Sparks' books are. However, it employs a plot device that I absolutely hate and which I personally feel is a copout. Thus I cannot give it more than three stars.

I cannot go into the plot device too much without providing spoilers, but this particular device just ends up making me mad. This has great characters and a great story, but I ultimately felt cheated by that particular tactic. Others may not have a problem with it at all.

This was an interesting read and hard to follow because it is two separate stories. One story is of Beverly, a mother with her young son on the run from an abusive husband. The other story is of Colby, a talented musician on vacation in Florida who ends up meeting the love of his life Morgan. Colby returns to his farm, due to family obligations but misses Morgan. Sparks finally intertwines the stories at the end of the book.

I am a sucker for a good Nicholas sparks book but this one kinda fell short for me. While it was two completely different stories I just didn’t feel like I connected with the character as I do with other sparks books. I still think if you are a Nicholas sparks fan you should give his new title a try for yourself.

This title will be released September 20th. Thank you NetGalley and Radom House Publishing for sharing an arc copy with me.

As a young adult reader, Sparks was my go to. I loved all of his work, obviously starting with The Notebook. I decided to revisit Sparks with his latest book, DREAMLAND. I can't say that I loved it.

There are two stories going on simultaneously, one follows Colby who has a deep rooted love of music. While taking a break from his true job as a farmer, he is playing gigs on the beaches when he meets Morgan. Insta-love then pursues. At the same time, we are following the story of Beverly, as she flees from abusive husband with her son in tow. These paths are all connected, but how?

For starters, I enjoyed following the life of Beverly much more than Colby. I am not a fan of the insta-love trope, so it was a bit far fetched and redundant for me. The story of Beverly kept me on my toes and even though I sensed something was off, I never could put my finger on it.

Part love story and part mystery, this one was slow paced for me. If not for my interest in Beverly's story, I probably would not have finished this one :(

Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House for my ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I count on a Nicholas Sparks story to tug at my hear strings and bring me beautiful Carolina scenery. This one I struggled to get into with words like "youngish" and "smallish" being used to describe people and places. While I did enjoy the Florida setting in addition to Carolina ties I needed just a little more to keep me interested.

A 4 1/2 rating.
Dreamland by Nicholas Sparks. This book might not be a favorite of mine by author but it's still very good. His stories never disappoint. I didn't know where the story was going and how he was going to bring the storylines together but wow he sure gave us a surprise at the end.

***BOOK REVIEW***
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Title: Dreamland
Author: Nichols Sparks

Nichols Sparks as been an instant read for me for years because he just has a way with stories. Dreamland is of course the same way.

I loved the characters and their connections with each other. The story is told by two narrators….you know the two stories are connected but I wasn’t sure how until they reveal. Never saw it coming. And I thought it was perfect.

I loved the ending. I couldn’t have wrote it anywhere.

Thanks to Netgalley and Random House for a copy of Dreamland in exchange of an honest review.

I've read a couple of Nicholas Sparks books and honestly, they seem kind of hit or miss for me. Some I really like, some are just eh, and some miss the mark.

I think this one falls in the "miss the mark" category.

This story didn't do it for me. The two separate storylines, which although they came together in the end, the big twist was kind of predictable for me. Granted, I didn't know all of the finer details of the twist, but I guessed the general concept.

The characters? They were kind of flat. I didn't care about any of them. And the love story between Colby and Morgan seemed a little far fetched and unbelievable.

Overall, this didn't do it for me and I don't think I'd recommend it to others. Giving it a 2.5 stars, rounding up to 3.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Disclaimer: I received an advanced copy of Dreamland ebook from NetGalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

It’s been a while since I have read a book by Nicholas Sparks so I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one based on the description. I really liked it! Hasn’t been my typical read lately and I was glad I requested it!

The book is split by two POV that seemingly have nothing to do with each other.

Cody is a young farm owner on a very rare vacation in Florida. While in Florida he reignites his passion for music and plays a few shows at a local beach bar. During one of his shows he meets a beautiful girl named Morgan. During their short vacation together they explore the possibility of a relationship.

Beverly is a young mother on the run with her son. Leaving an abusive husband behind and desperately trying to cover her tracks, Beverly finally finds a small town with a house to rent. As Beverly starts to feel safe and her son gets comfortable in the new school, things start to happen that make her think her husband has found them.

As these two stories converge unexpectedly emotions, family obligations and new love get put to the test.

I would recommend adding this book to your TBR.
