Dreamland follows two different story lines. Colby and Margaret and Beverly and Tommie. There is a romance but also some suspense and mystery in the second storyline. The story is typical Nicholas Sparks and is a page turner.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Dreamland is a mix of two stories. One is about a man who farms with his family. On the side, he plays guitar and sings, sometimes his original songs. He meets a woman while performing. They start a relationship, and he finds out she is an exceptional singer.

The other story tells of a woman and her son who are on the run from her husband. Danger is around every corner.

These stories come together in an unexpected way.

I haven’t read a Nicholas Sparks book that I haven’t enjoyed, and this was no different. I was over the moon when NetGalley approved my request.

All the way through the story, I wondered how the two stories had anything to do with each other. Have no fear as you read it, as the answer is worth the wait!

The characters are your average people, each with their own issues. Family is of utmost importance. Physical and Mental health are brought in as well. It is a well-rounded story and kept my interest throughout the entire book.

I just finished Dreamland and am still in an after-book haze. The way Nicholas brought everything together at the end surprised me and made me think back to many parts of the story, seeing it differently. Spectacular!

If you are unsure of my feelings for Dreamland, it is one you need to pick up ASAP. It won’t be available until September 20, 2022, but it is available for preorder right now.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing this ebook for me to read and review.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced copy of Dreamland.

I've been a fan of Nicholas Sparks books for many, many years. I haven't loved some of his newer releases, but Dreamland was a bit of a redemption in my eyes.
The story bounces back and forth between Colby's story and Beverly's story. While I loved the chapters telling Beverly's story, at times I was bored with Colby. And for a long time, I had no idea what the two different parts had to do with each other.
Although this book didn't make me cry like many of Sparks' early works, it did bring on the feels when the twist was revealed.

Overall, I really enjoyed Dreamland and felt like it was a bit closer to the earlier works of Nicholas Sparks that I've loved in the past.

In “little” Washington, North Carolina, Colby Mills has given up his own dreams of being a professional musician and takes on the family farm with his aunt after his uncle passes away. But he takes a working vacation to play his music at a bar in Florida, meeting the woman who seems perfect for him. Morgan has just finished college at Indiana University’s School of Music and plans to move to Nashville to become a famous musician. Meanwhile, Beverly, fleeing an abusive husband, is desperately trying to keep things together and care for her 6 year old son. When Colby gets a call from the hospital back in North Carolina, he rushes to his aunt’s side in the hospital and then discovers the plight of ‘Beverly,’ another issue for Colby to confront. Verdict: Recommended for fans of Sparks and romance novels.

I absolutely love Nicholas Sparks books and I flew through this one! His romances are always swoon worthy and exciting to read. Dreamland has a budding romance, but its also a mystery. All through the book I kept trying to figure out what the connection was between Colby and Beverly. I loved the alternating stories and how they contrasted (light vs dark, leisurely paced vs frantic paced) moving you through the plot. This is definitely a great read and I would love to see a sequel that continues to follow the lives of these characters.

In Nicholas Sparks' most recent novel, we follow two completely different POV's. First is from the perspective of Colby Mills - a farmer from North Carolina taking a well deserved vacation while also performing at the local pub in his free time. Colby has always had a passion for music, so when he meets Morgan Lee - a recent college graduate with a music degree and aspirations of moving to Nashville to make it big while they are both vacationing in Florida, they immediately hit it off. Then, we have the POV of Beverly - a mother on the run from her abusive husband with her son Tommie. Beverly goes through rigorous precautions from preventing him from finding them and eventually ends up in a small town.

I'm going to be completely honest with you all... I read a lot of romance novels, but have never read one from Nicholas Sparks. I know, I know!! I've seen several movies based on his novels and I even own at least one novel that I have not gotten around to reading yet, but alas this was my first one. Since I have seen some movies based on his novels, I kind of knew what I was getting into. I was expecting something I couldn't put down and definite waterworks. However, that's not really what I got.

Yes, the book was hard to put down, but honestly only for Beverly's chapters. Sure, Colby seemed nice and whatever, but I just couldn't believe the relationship between Colby and Morgan. It felt too shallow and forced, but over all it was too insta-lovey - just because the characters admit that's what it is, doesn't make it good. However, Beverly's chapters were full of grief and anxiety which slowly spirals worse and worse. I couldn't help feeling for her.

The reader doesn't know what ties these characters together until we get to about 80% or so. I had a feeling at about 50% - 60% what was going to happen and while I wasn't exactly right, I was pretty close. Overall, it was fine. Nothing that I would expect from Nicholas Sparks, but it was definitely a quick and easy read.

Rated 3/5 stars

I always look forward to Nicholas Sparks new books and his latest, Dreamland, did not disappoint.

This latest novel by Sparks is a quick read. It does deal with some heavy topics (death and mental illness) so it is not to be considered a fun, beachy read.
However, it is a good book that flows nicely and handles the hard topics well. The characters are a bit on the youngish side so it actually feels more like a young adult novel. The romance scenes are handled tastefully. Fans of Nicholas Sparks will honestly love this one.

I have read every single one of Nicholas Sparks books, and this one was very unique to me.

The book flashes back and forth between two completely different stories. Colby is a 25 year old farmer, who is offered the opportunity to spend several weeks in Florida performing his music at a popular resort. While there he meets Morgan, a recent college graduate with hopes of going to Nashville and making it big.

In seemingly another universe, Beverly is on the run from her abusive husband with her six year old son Tommie in tow. Beverly escapes in the middle of the night, with not much to her name, and struggles to provide for Tommie, while flying under the radar so that her husband cannot find her.

The entire book I was like, these two stories must tie in somewhere, and I could not figure out how. They eventually do, with about 20% of the book left, and I would never have guessed the outcome.

I really loved this book. I feel that it was a different type of creativity that I do not recall seeing from Sparks before. However, this is a 4.5 star read for me. I could not give it a full five stars simply because I did not buy the insta love between Colby and Morgan.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the digital ARC! I have been a Sparks fan for almost 15 years, and getting to read one of his novels before it was released was very exciting.

I enjoy all of his books and I am a huge fan of his work. I found the whole read fast paced, well written and a great love story that had a unique ending twist. Definitely recommend

This is one of the author's best books! It has some romance, of course, and a bit of sadness, but it has a lot more going for it. It is very cleverly written from two points of view - Colby and Beverly. The stories seem very separate and unrelated. Just when I began to be annoyed at the construction of the story, the two threads come together in a surprising, unexpected way. It is so well-done! Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for providing an ARC.

Nicholas Sparks is back and his upcoming book, Dreamland is a must-read!

Colby meets Morgan during his gig in Florida, but while she comes from money and is a bit of a TikTok sensation, Morgan is really a farm boy at heart with a secret he’s not quite ready to share with Morgan.

Meanwhile, we follow the story of a mom named Beverly who is on the run with her son. By the end of the story, we find out how these two different stories are connected.

Just when I thought I knew the direction this unputdownable piece of fiction was heading, Nicholas Sparks surprised me with his well crafted ending! This was a fabulous read from start to finish, and I enjoyed every minute.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!

Dreamland, in true form Nicholas Sparks does not fail. Although it starts slow this is a book that will not disappoint Nicholas Sparks readers. The two stories weave into a surprising ending. This is not Sparks typical novel, but I like the direction he is going.

Two stories are juxtaposed over the course of this touching story. Colby, a North Carolina farmer, is playing a gig in Florida when he meets the love of his life, Morgan. In the meantime, Beverly, is on the run from her abusive husband. I liked both stories, but the story didn't become interesting to me until the plot comes together at the end. Although I liked the characters, separately, the storylines felt a bit shallow to me.

I normally love Nicholas Sparks' books, but this one just wasn't one of my favorites. Thank you NetGalley for an arc of Dreamland in exchange for an honest review.

Being a big Nicholas Sparks fan, I was excited to read this one. It did not disappoint. Dreamland had two storylines. We meet Colby, a musician who was performing in Florida. Back home in North Carolina, he helped his family run a farm. As much as loves music, he felt he needed to be there to help his family. We then meet Beverly, who was running away with her son from her abusive husband.

I knew that there was going to be a connection at some point between these two characters but it was very unexpected and surprising. The last part of the book was so shocking and suspenseful that I could not put it down.

I enjoyed this story and would highly recommend it.

If you read [book:Wish You Were Here|57701764] and found yourself annoyed by the plot twist, chances are this one might not be your favorite Nicholas Sparks novel. I liked the two stories and they didn't come together in the way I expected. I feel like Morgan's character needed more substance and I'm still not quite sure I believed her and Colby's love story. However, it was a quick read and (mostly) nice story and I liked the ending.

Let me start by saying that Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors, but this book was not one of my favorites of his.
The two points of view made the book interesting and kept you hooked the entire time trying to figure out how the two main characters connected. Beverly’s story was intense and suspenseful, and Colby’s was lighthearted and surface level. In the end I had tears in my eyes!

What a beautiful, beautiful story! I’ve waited weeks to review this book because I had to continue to process it. In my classroom, we talk a lot about mental health - most of my students deal with it in one way or another, either personally or second-hand with family members. There are a lot of great YA books that discuss the issues that arise but some of my students, ones who have matured more and quicker than their peers, who would so benefit a more adult perspective. As always, this author writes stories we get sucked into and learn valuable lessons by the end. So excited for it to be released so I can suggest it my teacher book club!

I thought this was a really sweet love story. It also had a twist with mental illness in the family. I haven’t read him in a while and I am really glad I read this story. I highly recommend this book.

Okay, listen! I am not a reader of love story books, like at all. If someone isn't getting murdered, I ain't reading it lol. But I decided to step out of my comfort zone and read the new book by Nicolas Sparks. I've never read any of his other books ( although I've watched The Notebook quite a few times).

I ended up loving this book! It starts out telling 2 different people's stories. Going back and forth between Colby and Beverly. I gotta say, Colby's story was like akkk lol. I hate love stories but by about 75% of the way towards the end, I couldn't put the book down.

I can't say anymore than that because it'll totally give the ending away but I resonated so much with the ending that I almost cried a little.

Definitely giving this one a 5 star rating!
