Thank you Netgalley for my free copy!

I'm not usually into short story. I would rather get deep into a story and into character's lives. I did however enjoy these snippets from seemingly ordinary lives. Each and every one of the stories had a unique set of circumstances and very punchy and sometimes shocking. If you enjoy short stories, then this book is for you!

Each story brought something to the table. Was amazing from start to finish. Will definitely recommend this story to others.

I was delighted to be offered this book as an ARC via NetGalley. The short stories in this book are great, certainly not cheery, but like petit fours each is delicious and memorable in it's own way. The protagonists are not necessarily people you want to meet however they are nuanced and I would quite happily read these all over again (and probably will to analyse them for my short story course ;) ).

A collection of short stories which usually I do not care for however this book of stories was quite intriguing, I will say the story are a little dark for my taste yet really held my interest! I really did enjoy it so yes; I would recommend it to friends!

I'm not usually keen on short stories but loved these ones. They were each perfectly formed with enough content to keep you thinking about each one once you had finished reading. Will read these all again at a later date.

mmmm how I love a good short story collection.

A Recycled Marriage is a collection of stories that seemingly follow everyday people doing everyday things, till it takes a turn. The stories were short and intriguing exploring many different topics.

My only issue is how some things were written. In one of the stories, we follow a man who stammers, a disability that is not accurately depicted in the story. And in other stories, the main character will have an accent, and the spelling of the words reflects that, making it a little hard to read. I also wished the stories had a bit more diversity in them since they did get repetitive.

Overall, for a debut novel, it was good.

Thank you to Netgalley for sending me a copy.

This is a very dark set of stories, a little more than I imagined going in. They’re very short on the whole so it’s easy to get through a lot in one sitting but I personally found the cumulative effect a little depressing and some of the plots were a little unsophisticated for my taste. There’s some very vivid imagery though and many of the stories lingered on my mind - someone with a higher tolerance than me for the macabre would probably enjoy this a lot. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This collection of short stories leaves many things unresolved, but that is part of their appeal. The writer does a wonderful job changing the voice of the narrator from an elderly man, to a teenage girl, to an adult in their prime. Each story recounts some kind of trauma or hurt that the narrator describes through loss, betrayal, or indifference.
The varied writing styles for each story held a lot of appeal for me, though at times, as a Canadian, it was difficult to determine what was being said unless I read it aloud.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and I look forward to other collections from the author.

I absolutely love the short story format and this collection did not disappoint. This is a collection of beautiful insights into human nature that leaves you thinking. Some are dark, emotional or tragic and some are amusing but all are very human. They are so well done, I will revisit this collection again and again.

I enjoyed these stories. Some more than others, but they were all good. Look forward to more by this author. Each one told a story of a hard life and ways we cope.

I was really excited to read this collection of short stories! The description sold me. But as it turns out I have to give this book 2 stars. I think the author tried really hard to write suspenseful and intriguing stories and they fail to do that. Most of the stories have an unclear timeline (which I think what the author was going for but it didn’t work) and confusing writing that it seems like it just went over my head. Also, the plot twists weren’t developed well enough which is a bummer because some of the stories have potentials to be really good.

Thank you NetGalley for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.
